No, a compression test will not void a warranty. Expanded on the magnet/oil pan idea, you can often find an aftermarket magnetic oil pan plug (a quick google tells me that GM initially installed magnetic drain plugs on corvettes but then stopped producing the part)

Didn't Ford have a similar issue with the ecoboost? -

I hadn't seen that about transistor count, but the number of transistors doesn't matter if isn't reflected in the performance numbers. My car has twice the number of cylinders as a Buick Regal GS... but guess which car is faster.

don't post it publicly just yet

A 36k sticker is pretty close to base on the Genesis sedan. You're not going to get most of those features on any model that bases at that price.

When is that letter dated and would you mind scanning me a copy?

You missed Tata... I expect as they finish digesting Jaguar/Land Rover (and that seems to be going rather well) they'll set their sites on a "regular" brand or 3. I could see them going after Isuzu for trucks and Mitsubishi for mainstream cars.... and then there are still the struggling French brands out there as well.

Sales: Electric Vehicle Sales In 2013 Jump 84 Percent
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in 2013 Sales Archive
Good point, having my son and daughter out of college and on their own, I forget about growing families that could see their needs change in 1-3 years. And in such a way, it's a good way to address those interim needs. The in-law's Charger, while reliable, has weird electrical gremlins like power door locks that won't unlock randomly and windshield wipers that stop working. The dad doesn't want the teenage daughter to be stuck somewhere with a car that does those things, but also knows that in two years, the needs will change again when she is away at school. Leasing a Leaf for 2 years is good solution for them and it avoids a big depreciation penalty. The car will also be under warranty, and most likely reliable for at least the 2 years they have it. Plus... no longer fueling up a Hemi for a teenage girl to drive.- 12 replies

It's also sometimes a good interim step. It's why I leased the Encore instead of buying it.... I'm fairly certain our needs will be different in 24 months.- 12 replies

I can't imagine the typical buyer wanting this much power in that size of a package.
