  1. I've only heard it as Gee-Trag. But then again, it might end up as the EEE-ko-tek versus ECHO-tek
  2. And Hail Mary for it. I believe Chrysler would make it on its own. They've pulled themselves out of so many other messes. And even though the 5-speed automatics (and other equipment) are Mercedes-Benz sourced and designed, they are built under license the Kokomo plant. So Chrysler wouldn't be without parts, and they could soon develop their own. And, did you know that real Chrysler engineers breathed life into the R-Class? Also, it's funny isn't it? How they are so quick for the want to eliminate Chrysler during a stutter-step and never question Mercedes-Benz when it was hurting itself?
  3. Even if Ma Mopar were in charge, I doubt they would screw it up as badly as you guys are claiming. I'm sure Chrysler learned from the "Ultradrive" four speed automatics of the early `90's. Allpar claims that with the development of the 6-speed version of the current (and vastly improved) 4-speed automatic, Chrysler hopes to rekindle memories of the durable 3-speed TorqueFlite unit.
  4. Because retro is retro and it's rather pointless. How is one able to go forward with it?
  5. Sounds good. I'd get a C4.
  6. Um, don't "No" me. I wasn't talking about the fortwo at all. Even though the next forfour has been cancelled, if it were still in production around the time the concept (and it is) Chrysler could use that platform. All that would be needed would be the Federalisation of the architecture. The structure is still technically new enough (and completely new for the U.S., period) that it could be adapted for the Hornet. Thank you.
  7. Like the Volvo S40. It's manufactured in Belgium, isn't it?
  8. Technically, what with Chrysler's long standing partnership with Mitsubishi, they could do something with Mitsubishi. The Three Diamond company did practically engineer the smart forfour for Daimler-Benz. Also, the new Mitsubishi i (although larger) has its engine and basic layout very similar to the fortwo's. The Hornet could be based on a new forfour if the model proceeds to a new generation.
  9. No it isn't. Chrysler doesn't have enough models and variations to penetrate the market as well as others. Plymouth would be great for this. Shame on you.
  10. Oddly enough, the start of this thread reminds me of this little issue I am having with someone. If you want some laughs and puzzled looks, I'll explain it. It's pretty good, but certain details shall be spared.
  11. Saw a Saturn OUTLOOK on north bound Interstate 69 the other day. I was talking with my friend Janel, and I just stopped short and sputtered about it not having been released quite yet. Hehe.
  12. My point is that perception is different from fact. LX cars have nicer materials if a worse overall design... inside or out. I do like the Lucerne, but its interior should be made up of things more like the DTS's (or a 300C).
  13. Checked out the new Aveo in Colon, MI. A very nice car. My main complaint is that the door armrests are rock hard.
  14. Excuse me. But the LX car interiors have more (and beter) soft touch surfaces than any Buick Lucerne.
  15. I agree too. Chrysler is known for taking risks. And it didn't. That's a mistake. They really ought to have made a rear-drive/all-drive midsizer to stand out. But, as it stands, the 2.4L should have a manual tranny standard, 5-speed automatic optional, with a 5-speed standard with the 2.7L V6, and maybe have a 6-speed amnual optional on something like a GTC model with the 3.5L V6.
  16. Ugh. It needs more distinctive exterior styling or at least a better grille, and an all-new interior. Chrysler used to be a styling leader... but not anymore apparently. Look at the hashed together Sebring.
  17. Chrysler should restructure. It will help them out tremendously. I heard the UAW wouldn't grant any health care cuts to Chrysler because they aren't in SERIOUS trouble... YET.
  18. At the open campus I went to in February (2006), they looked over my portfolio, told me what to work on, what they liked, and what they didn't like. They gave me suggestions. They also told me they only accepted something like 25 out of 150 applicants a year. Then, after applying early August, I took back my slightly revised portfolio, ACT scores, and High School Transcripts. The whole interview, portfolio review, and acceptance only took like, 15 minuetes, I swear. It seemed so much easier than what I had imagined. So, for me, it was easy to enter. I was so excited, and they told me that they appreciated seeing enthusiastic students. ~No hard plastics~ Oh, definitely. As long as I can convince the bean counters. Looks like I mgiht just have to control everything from start to finish :AH-HA_wink: . And, if I work for Chrysler like I want, I will take away this current, awkward, and heavy handed styling.
  19. I'd listen to Pink/Jewel before Nickleback and whoever else was listed, but, Nickleback sounds all the same, and that is to say, like crap. Um, yeah, try a little harder on that song, that's really what it needs... more effort.

    camry craze

The Camry is absolutely hideous. The only, and I mean the ONLY good thing about it aesthetically is the interior. Some old bat comes through McD's every morning in a "Granny Grey" one, and it has "granny Grey" interior too, but the interior does look nice. I'd never drive one.
  21. Yes! This is what I mentioned in some other thread, and is good news, and should be spread. I can't wait!
  22. Sorry, it's been ahwile since I've been on... But thank you all. I am so excited about this. I leave the second week of January to start classes. I just love art. I took art courses all 4 years of high school, and always enjoyed it through elementary. I don't know about socially inept, I'm just not the biggest people person, lol. I am definitely "weird", but very likeable in most instances. Some are unable to swallow my personality/quirks, but, that's okay. Everyone has their own opinions and views. Also, I was thinking... maybe after my career launches in the next, oh, what... ~4.5 years, I was considering the possibilty of being schooled for business management. I would like to run a company, it'd be so stressful and hectic! Sure would keep me busy. Some of my ideas are: start my own design firm (like the firms of Europe), coax investors into me starting my own automotive corportation (American or Canadian based) which would be exceptionally difficult and probably not worth the time, or just eventually "take over" an existing company for which I have a passion for. Of course, I would love to style AND engineer a whole automobile... sigh, so many ideas, so much passion, so little time, so little money.
  23. Well, reports indicate a new V8 diesel from GM that will fit into the engine bays with the same dimensions that its small block will fit into, and it is reportedly very advanced... DOHC, 4 valves/cylinder, benchmarked against the best diesels of Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW, and aimed to have sound/NVH qualities like those of a good gasoline engine. Clicky Click!
  24. Ahh, it IS a looker... Motor Trend states that the Aura's interior is a match for the Japanese competition, "which itself has all but caught up to the VW norm".
  25. Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know I have been accepted and will attend the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. I will enter into Transportation Design. I guarantee someone will be driving my design(s) one day. I so excited.
