Glad to know that I'm not as crazy as I sometimes think I am for the things I like, hehe. No, I haven't gotten to drive one, I'm just going from my firsthand encounter, a walk-around, and sitting in one while having everything adjusted. But I sure would like to. That way I could see how everything functions while in motion, how the Red Line feels while in motion, and of course, the eyebrow raising acceleration.

Bad drivers tend to own... Honda? Toyota? VW?
MyerShift replied to Sixty8panther's topic in The Lounge
Other. Why? Duh, its usually the SUV drivers (and especially those with Hummers) that are the worst and most ignorant all around. -
Very odd as Volkswagen AG as a company seems to prefer and push the diesel powerplant.
-
I highly doubt that would ever happen. The Phaeton is too heavy (steel chassis), too cumbersome, and its engine is hanging off the front of the car, so I don't see it as being desirable to Porsche for a larger sports car like the Panamera. Not sure what it is based on other than a unique architecture. I'm sure Porsche would try to make the weight and balancing as ideal as possible.

The refreshed Durango does look much better than when it was origianlly introduced. Perhaps Chrysler will be wise, and quickly refresh their other, um, "inspired" designs.

This is how Porsche will ensure its future. The Cayenne will be guaranteed, and the Panamera or whatever it will be called will have pletny of funding. In the most recent edition of Automobile magazine, Wiedeking is said to have told the board of Volkswagen AG that their "costly sandbox exercises" needed to end. That could mean no future for Bugatti... again. He allegedly made the statement in front of Piech himself, mastermind of VW's collection of exotic marques through the 1990's.

Neat! Reminds me of SAAB's Lime Yellow featured on the 9-3 Cabriolet, but I prefer the SAAB's colour. Wouldn't want to be seen in that colour SubLime or whatever in a car that ugly. At Team Hillsdale Chrysler where I get my car serviced, I was looking over a 300C in the showroom, and a lady asked me what I thought of it and then mentioned the Charger. She seemed shocked that I much preferred the 300 over the Dodge. I suppose that may be due to my age, but I have taste, thank you very much.

We are aware that the EPA is changing its ratings system for fuel efficiency (first time since 1985) that will reduce the optimism of economy in all cars, and especially hybrids? Besides, the label is just a suggestion. Real world driving will vary and yield different results.

So even though it isn't good to be considered a "fleet car", there must be plenty of attributes (aside from blandish styling) to the car to make it useful and poplular enough to give to anyone. Hmm, give. Literally worthy to give the car out? Lol. Just a silly musing there.

GM introduces vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) system
MyerShift replied to SoCalCTS's topic in General Motors
Bah, just another nanny for people that shouldn't be out in automobiles. Like most of America for instance. -
Awesome! Alright GM, Go Saturn. Like Always (good basic product) Like Never Before (great looks, great packaging, great all around).

Lousy!? For shame. The hatches are infinitely more interesting, characterful, and is some cases practical than the sedan. And judging from the rear of the new Opel Astra sedan, those taillamps look the same as some iterations of the Cadillac Catera, which itself is an Opel. I would like to see the TwinTop here as well. Best bet would be to introduce ALL of the Astra's iterations to the U.S.

Hard to tell what it is due to the camo, so I'll wait to "brand" it until later, at which point I will give my opinion as well.
-
Ooh, that is handsome and appealing. I still wouldn't get one because I'm not an SUV/CUV person, but it is aesthetically pleasing and just plain old handsome. What could be better?
-
Ya, I gotcha on all those counts. I mean, that ridiculous Maybach is nothing more than a tarted-up S-Class that appears to have had its exterior design penned by plagiarizing Koreans/Chinese/Japanese/Rest of Asia & etc.
-
Exactly! Almost as if they don't care about anything else anymore.

I have to say it, as odd as it is for me to admit this, but I really do like the Saturn ION. But, in Red Line Quad Coupe form only. When I went to Ft. Wayne to the Saturn dealership and gave them my number to contact me for when the Astra arrives, I sat in one. Know what? I loved the center mounted gauge cluster and the wonderful Recaro bucket seats up front. The interior plastics don't feel harsh and cheap now, and have nice graining. The dash plastics in the ION feel better than those in the Cobalt. They don't sound hollow, and feel semirubberized. The steering wheel could be adjusted for any position and not block the guages, and, of course, I loved the amber illumination of the interior as it reminds me of my Breeze and because it is different, and not as distracting on the eyes at night. I can make this statement because I had a factory cassette/CD player installed in my Breeze so that I may enjoy my own music when nothing is on the radio, and all that they make anymore is the blue-green display. That sort of ticked me off. They didn't even ask me if it would have been okay, as I specifically requested a unit with AMBER background illumination. But anyway, this blue-gren display really pulls my attention down to the stereo even with with it only occupying my peripheral vision. It actually discomforts me a bit. Back to the ION. I would like it because it is different. A plastic car that is quick. Something to resist dents and corrosion. Plus that cool center gauge cluster!!! Even though I would like to have the ION Red Line, the Astra is coming, and I would much prefer that. I've loved the Astra since I've known about it in 2004. This message was brought to you by Steve. Who couldn't hide his begrudged appreciation of the ION any longer. Thank you!

I probably would have stopped and helped if my $h! heap did damage to another's vehicle because of something falling off. And, on a side note, I saw the new or something Ford Escape in Detroit today when I went to schedule my courses in person. It only had camo on the doors. everything else looked production ready. It had a big-ass chrome grille liket he Explorer and what not, and had Escape embossed on the front bumper (in the chrome). It seemed MUCH bigger than the current Escape, but was still of course smaller than the Explorer by an obvious amount. One highlight of my day exploring around Detroit was observing the GM Headquarters Building. It was beautiful.

I guess I don't understand, why pry on the damn car anyway? If metal is stresses repeatedly in the same location, duh, it's going to snap. What happened to the car in the first place, and why whack on it?
-
What a no brainer. Chrysler just needs to put as much into its other products as it did into the LX cars. Is that so hard for them (or for Daimler to allow) to figure out?
-
Ya, it's the Maybach Excelero Concept developed in cooperation with Fulda (a tire maker) to test high-speed tires, or something like that. It's quite hideous in overall appearance.
-
Ugh. The outline of the headlamps should have stayed closer to the concept. This thing looks like far too much of a mish-mash of mostly Volvo and Lexus IS. If they would have taken the design of the concept Evo X, stripped it of the Gee-Whiz! AWD, interior, and got rid of the inverted black Audi front grille fascia, then this wouldn't look bad. Looks to me like Mitsubishi has another So What? car on its hands, aside from a Ralliart and the inevitable Evolution model. Why can't the basic elements of an attractive concept ever make it to production? Does it have to be uglified and chintzied up for the common model? And kids, this is what the Japanese brother of the Caliber, Sebring, Avenger, Compass, and Patriot (am I missing any?) looks like!
