Then you don’t look very hard. One quick search on “Mercedes Benz C Class cheap plastics” yields plenty of results.2 points

Epic failure - going to make the downslide of the ATS look good....unless they want to really push cheap leases here.... Benchmarking is unimportant here....they need models that wow like the Caddies of old...I have no doubt you have many good examples..... ?1 point

People act the same with Cadillac, Chevy, Ford, Toyota, etc..1 point

Well full size is pretty much gone for anything but trucks.. For personal coupes you have Challenger or a fair number of luxury options starting with the A5. I guess there is not enough money to be made on the ones based on mass market family cars with two less doors any more.1 point

I don't see Civic or Accord going away. 300k units in just the US is still a lot of units... and they still sell them in EU, Japan, and China. This really feels more like a One Ford strategy where they reduce the number of platforms they use and the number of alacart options available. Get ready for LX, EX, and Touring being the only choices. Right now they have Base, LX, EX, Touring, Sport, EX with Navigation, Touring with Navigation, Si, etc. There will also probably be a reduction in the number of powertrain variants offered. Expect a lot more CVTs where possible.1 point

All the fake grilles are FAR more egregious, IMO, because you can clearly see the portions that are functional and those that are fake on the same car. No one is every going to try and see out OR in that tiny CT5 portal if it were glass and not half obscured by internal structure & seating material. False drama.1 point

Quality is only one small piece of the puzzle. Lots of things get a car to sell. I think for CT5 exterior styling, interior and price will matter a lot. Engine probably doesn’t matter as much because it is class competitive power especially vs an ES350 or TLX or the MKZ while it is still here. The complaint was brought up about the 2.0 being too weak, but they could make the Blackwing V8 standard in the CT5 and the C-class would still outsell it. So horsepower isn’t the issue.1 point

Even the E-Class is squeaky plastic mercedes. Where is the World Class Quality or nothing at all?1 point

Absolutely! I think that is where Lincoln is kind of carving out their own little niche in just trying to be Lincoln instead of trying to directly compete with other vehicles.1 point

I’m not worried about that anyways, as I’m betting the CT5 will be an epic failure as a car with no direction, like the division that it is in. I’ll simply say it over and over again- Caddy needs to stop trying to benchmark the other boys and do it’s own thing. Whether it be floaters, hot rods, or designs of artwork on wheels, let it be something. Heck, even Lincoln got their stuff together......1 point

Explains why they weren’t in a big hurry to get rid of models like cars in the first place. The one thing I can see Honda doing (as already mentioned) is that they will at least have hybrids in the lineup to make sure there is still a supply of ICE models. They realize why even going more global that not everyone is going to want to be totally EV based (ie the US, 3rd and developing countries) Though I do see the death of one of their biggest name plates, either the Accord or Civic.1 point

We already know how the low quality C-class sells against the leader 3/4-Series from BMW.1 point

Looks claustrophobic to be inside, but I like the visual, esp the clear roof. I like short hood/long deck cars; they're different. I whipped these 2 up a while back- I especially love the B-59 4-door coupe. Keep the rear doors functional and give it a 8-foot deckled (no open pickup beds!) and I'd drive it every day :1 point

A-class comes with a paltry 188 HP 2.0T. That's more comparable to a 1.4T Cruze with 153 HP. ...why is the a-class 2.0 tuned down so much on horsepower???1 point

I don't know where all the hard plastics are on a Mercedes unless you are talking about a Sprinter or the wheel cladding on some SUVs, which isn't even on all of them, because most SUVs have body color fender guards. But the E-class does compare very well to a Camry, just as the GLS compares very well to a Tahoe, so compare away, Mercedes wins those all day.1 point

Hello all... Been lurking for a while for many reasons, some really stupid and others really scary. I also face an existential crisis here. Car is benched. Have lost interest in driving. Moving cities, changing career, moving away from all family and friends in a couple months. Reflecting on my interest in autos... I just like the pictures. There’s nothing about sporty or good looking or well made cars that make me want to open my wallet for ‘em. Have lost any loyalty to any brand completely. Anyways I might post in other threads but for now feel kinda lame. Be back whenever...0 points

All cars have plastic in them. The C and E class in most comparison tests and reviews are said to have the best interiors in their class. The A6 is nice too, that is on par with the E-class.-1 points
