  1. For DFelt-sized people they need to offer extended roof options.. Yeah, I'm 6'0" and found I can't easily reach into the bed of a typical 2wd full size truck today..they sit very high even in 2wd form.

  3. I wish I could say diehard GM people.. ? We also looked at the baby Jeep, Ford Ecosport, and the Kia Soul. The Renegade was nice too, but the insurance was nuts-and there were no deals at all. The EcoSport handled well, and was also in the running. (Though the higher trims had cool stuff. ? ) The Soul offered quite a bit too, and the wife liked that too. The killer for the Soul was she struggled to see out the back-a big no no in our neighborhood. The EcoSport offered some good deals too- but the Trax won her over.....

  5. This thought struck me today~ The proponents/religious zealots of autonomous driving cars frequently claim that 'the vast majority of driver's aren't very skilled, and this would help reduce accidents'. There seems to be a huge cross-over where these same proponents also fully support electric vehicles (not yet or neccessarily in the same vehicle). Many of the EVs (and near future EVs) go 0-60 around 3.0 secs. ?

  6. Please no XT3 or XT4. I'm begging here.

  7. I don't think so, the XT4 is built on E2XX (Epsilon 2 updated). Trailblazer I believe is VSS-F.. maybe VSS-S (S for SUV). Future smaller XT2 or 3 could use the same.

  10. If we are going to do this sexist thing and call white males dumb. We might as well do it right: Dumb white males and their muscle cars/exotic cars with their scantily clad bimbos!!! ? Dont forget the rock-n-roll!

  11. Today saw the Lexus UX 200 F-Sport being swapped for this 2020 Volvo S60 T5 Momentum. This base model comes very well equipped with a LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, 10-way power seats12.3-inch display for the instrument cluster, and a 9-inch infotainment system. But this particular vehicle is loaded with over $9,000 in options including metallic paint, 19-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, Harman/Kardon audio system, and power trunk lid. This brings the price to $46,240 with destination - base being $36,050. Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder with 250 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. I'll be updating this piece later in the day with some first drive impressions and I only briefly drove it around my work's parking lot to grab some pictures. In the meantime, start dropping off your questions. UPDATE: As promised (albeit slightly late), some more first impressions of the S60. The T5 engine is a surprisingly punchy engine, providing rapid power when driving on the freeway or exiting a turn. But the downside is noticeable turbo lag when leaving a stop - something I noted in my XC40 review. Volvo Sensus and my iPhone 7 Plus aren't seeming getting along at the moment. When I first plugged my phone in, the system recognized it and brought up the button to launch Apple CarPlay. But I couldn't bring up the CarPlay interface as the button did nothing. I had to unplug and plug the phone back in before it worked. One more issue concerning CarPlay. Some apps only bring up a blank screen when first opened. I would close them and relaunch to bring them to back to regular status. I can't explain whether this is due to me still running an older version of the OS or something with the car. To answer @regfootball comment on the space, this feels slightly larger than the outgoing S60. In the back, I have slightly more legroom than the previous models I have driven. Headroom is still tight, partly due to the optional panoramic sunroof. Volvo still hasn't solved getting in and out of the back as it still feels like a tight squeeze, even though the rear doors do have a wider opening.

  17. While not a car fan, I will say I like the interior dash on this.
    1 point
  18. Yeah, I was looking on my phone, in a larger photo the use becomes clear. I don't think the Denali dash is any higher than the ATS--the gauge pod appears the same height, it's just the height extends further across on the Denali. I prefer high mounted vents, rather than ones down low. My 5'3" sister may not like it though...

  19. Oh dang, unfortunately that instantly becomes unattractive. The efficiency of the vehicle makes $166/month w/ $2200 down very attractive but more than doubling the monthly payment makes it not so pretty. Oh, and another $400 down...

  20. Or a "not-a-giant-owner" package for anybody under @dfelt's height. ??

  21. I honestly think it is so you know without look which is D and which is R as you can fit your fingers I bet into those HDMI looking spots. I can totally understand this as I think a persons Height has something to do with how one would feel about the dashes. Being so tall, a tall dash never bothers me, but my Wife is 5'8" tall and you bring up a valid point. I wonder if she would find it too tall to look over. ? Love that GM is getting Unique dashes to various trim levels.

  22. It's very interesting that they would change that much within the same vehicle. I have no issue with either in their respective ways.

  23. For that little money, I would absolutely jump on this if I had a garage and it was wired for a charger. Shet, that's a good deal. I can't click that link but if for me to do that, it would also have to be 12,000-15,000 miles/yr. Those low-mile leases of 8,000-10,000 miles wouldn't cut it.

  24. I'm 5'8". Stood next to a 2020 2500HD on the dealer lot last night- bed sides are chin-height on me. Can only reach 50% into the depth of the bed- but I can touch the bed floor on my '04 2500HD. If I buy a new truck, even a 1500, I'm going to have to seriously look into a lowering kit. I use my bed all the time.

  25. Ahhh I keep forgetting about that vehicle! It looks sharp. That would be high on the sub-compact list along with the CX-30. They must be pretty different in size because "sub-20k" for the Trailblazer vs $21,800 for the CX-30. I would absolutely have to have the 1.3 w/ AWD and the 9-spd though, in the Trailblazer.

  26. I had a loaner EcoSport and while it had some nice things it felt cheap as hell, overall. It just didn't feel like a 28k vehicle(that was the sticker on a pretty loaded SEL). I could not imagine spending that kind of money on that vehicle. It easily had the feel of a sub-20k vehicle. I haven't spent any time in the other sub-compact SUVs but the new Mazda CX-30 would be the first place I would look if I was in the market for a new sub-compact SUV. I doubt there are any discounts on those though as they're brand new and there probably aren't many or any on lots yet. I was not a fan of the overall ride of the EcoSport. It wasn't like any one thing was bad or anything like that but the thing that stood out to me was when driving on the interstate, it felt twitchy. I have to assume that's a short wheelbase thing but I didn't like that. That was really the only glaring handling thing that I didn't like. That makes sense to me from my non-scientific eyes. I see waaaay more crew cabs with short beds than anything else.

  27. As I captain my 6.3 sec 0-60 V6 Colorado, I still have a soft spot for the 2.0L 4WD Ecosport, especially now when competitive pressure is driving the transaction prices way down. All the reviewers are saying the little Ford has a good ride and handling, and without the impediment of an artificially high selling price, it becomes much friendlier of a proposition. Same with the Trax, which is selling with excellent discounts. Known for a smooth ride and good handling. I keep checking for Chevy's Build&Price function to come online for the 2021 Trailblazer, too.

  28. We do too. I used to be diehard GM ( have family/friends at GM) but my tastes have changed over the years. I looked at quite a bit of different stuff before my Equiniox. Timing helped the Equinox, and my wife’s taste (and the deal) won over the wife for the Trax. I will say the Trax is starting to grow on me quick.... ?

  29. Some final thoughts before the UX 200 F-Sport returns home tomorrow. Someone asked about road noise in the UX (forgot who it was) and I'm slightly disappointed. There is a fair amount that comes inside when driving on the freeway. Some of this can be drowned out by the radio, but I have to wonder if switching the tires would help dampen some of the noise. Getting cargo into the rear can be troublesome due to the tall lift-over Fuel economy is ok, currently sitting at 28.4 MPG with a 60/40 mix of highway/city Surprisingly good in the corners with body motions decently controlled and steering providing decent response.

  30. I like the Denali interior better, because of the brown dash, the higher center vents, and the integrated screen.

  31. Congrats... my sister has a 2015 Trax and has been happy with it overall..has over 20k now after driving to Florida a couple weeks ago. The floor filled with water during heavy rain driving on the way down there, had to spend a few days at a dealer last week...not sure what the problem was, but water was coming in somewhere through the HVAC system. She said the dealer blamed it on squirrels..

  32. ^ Got in the truck to do a late-night job and the DIC flashes me 'battery not charging'. Must be the alternator. Can't really complain that the original went 196,000 miles. Will replace it & the serpentine tomm.

  34. ^^^ I had the same thought when I read DFELT's post. A picture is said to be worth a thousand words. But...art could also be translated a thousand ways. A photograph is most certainly art. If one person wants to interpret that photogragh as a sexist one, than that person is sick in the head. Those women, are free to work, make money and buy anything they want to buy. They dont need a "man" to support them. What I see also, in that pic, is that a man is reliant on a woman, MANY women, to get his car on the road because it seems he is incompetent to do it on his own. WAIT A MINUTE???!!! You are correct, it IS sexist. It shows that older white males are dumb and stupid and cant pump their own gas and need women to survive. I call BEE ESSSSSS on that!!!

  36. This is what 12 years of LaCrosse looks like . . . . Incredible salad bar (clockwise) bacon wrapped chicken, flank steak, parmesan crusted chicken drumettes, and top sirloin (picanha); why bore you with car photos? I'm figuring that, if I've gotten another year of reasonably hassle free service, I can head over this chain Brazilian steakhouse on the day(s) they feature their lunch menu. (I get taken here for my birthday, as it is!) BTW, the car sits at slightly over 95,000 miles. Have a great day.

  37. Ya, VSS-F, same as the Encore GX. I'd think they would do an XT3 on that, and there's room for an XT2 on the Trax/Encore platform also... Since we are in a CUV-driven market, GM should add as many as they can while the market is hot...
