Too bad you won't fit in any of them! Maybe if you rip out the front seat and sit in the back seat to drive like Hightower in Police Academy3 points

There are traditionally 8 markers for a recession, but most are still solidly positive (such as unemployment, housing, etc). Stock market levels alone do not determine economic recessions, and even within the market, the indicators are that the recent dip is headline-driven, not fundamentals-driven. Sorry Mr Felt, can’t celebrate yet! ?3 points

You have a severe problem comparing apples to apples. By your logic, no one will ever buy a $300K overdressed S Class, I mean Maybach. Oh wait. They didn’t buy it. Oh and the Escalade routinely sells for around $100K and routinely outsells the competition. See how your logic falls flat on its face? There is a tendency to do that when it doesn’t suit whatever weak ass argument one is trying to serve up.2 points

The XT6 is DEAD? It has only been out for less than a year. The XTS is dead and deservedly so. FWD Cadillac sedans deserve their grave. Give me a CT6 any day of the week rather than the XTS.2 points

All well and good, but Tesla needs a cheap model if they really want volume and market share. And I mean $15K to start, not $40K to start.2 points

The Bronco is looking good. https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/a31399894/2021-ford-bronco-spy-shots-leaked/?utm_medium=social-media&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=socialflowR%26T&fbclid=IwAR3iaYg9EnR9brW7RBWQyznLI1BCCQeuh831WAFkDUjWOCbj4H3deyrzTIw2 points

Sure they would. They never detuned the Camaro ZL1 from the Z06. The only reason the CTS-V has a slight drop in power is packaging. I don't think they'd have any issue with a Cadillac branded vehicle being quicker, especially because we're talking straight-line only and a Vette would still walk it in corners and braking where the EV's weight would kill it. That's going to happen when you make a mirror image of a 3 Series...2 points

You would, but a lot of Americans disagree. Unfortunately, the market has spoken a great deal about sales of new wagons.2 points

1 million cars built, 5.7 BILLION dollars lost (since 2013). Tesla loses 6 grand on every vehicle sold. Given that their vehicles have 'so many less' parts with minimalist interiors and middle of the road quality inspection, AND their cars sell for $50K to $120K - that's saying something!2 points

2 recent bits of progress. Everyone lists the wrong sway bar bushing for my car (every B-59 that has a bar uses the same one). I know because I ordered it locally and tried fitting it to my car's sway bar bracket. Loose tooth city, (as Garfield would say). But this is the number all over the internet; Moog K5227. It's wrong. Here's that bushing on the B-59 of an internet 59er : ^ This is a recently replaced bushing- look at it gap not only around the bar but inside the bracket. Not working very hard. - - - - - It took another local parts store who was willing to test fit bushings off the shelf in my bracket, which resulted in this. Now, I had to put a spacer around the bar, as the bore int he new bushing was 3/32-in larger. I used... a length of garden hose. But the bar is very snug (I compressed the assembly in a vise to mimic it being installed- the gaps close up almost completely). And by eliminating the lower bracket, I don't even have to modify the bushing. Success.1 point

Mistake! "New sealed beam headlamps increased the distance of lighting on the roadway in front of a vehicle and were introduced in 1955 as the new standard..." Ford debuted sealed beam headlights across the board in 1940. I should know- I own one (and have read this dozens of times).1 point

I agree with you on that about CPO's, sadly we seem to have two camps on this, ones that are all about the badge and will buy CPO and those that want new from the start, but really cannot afford it due to the debt load they are carrying from College. Crazy that college students think they have to live the same life parents provided at home growing up or feel they have to go to some private, big name college and get a no demand education at 6 figures. Had some interviews for job openings here in Seattle where the candidates talked up how high and mighty their Masters in European art was and ignored how it would benefit them for the actual job they were applying for. Seems that many young college students with no technical skill, thinks just because it is a masters degree, they are a shoo in for a job. Passed on all candidates as none would really grasp the technical needs of the job we have.1 point

Wish there was as I think this is the market of Fresh out of College that is being ignored right now by the auto industry.1 point

Easy, tight interior room, poor interior layout. Only hard core Tesla fans buy the X and pay the crazy price. Northwest has a vary tall population. You will find most men at 6' or taller and with the Tesla X as to why I never bought is that once I was in the front, you had maybe 2" of space between the back of the front seat and the rear bottom seat pad. No one can sit behind a tall person. Tesla in this regards has made an ERROR in sizing the interior seats for an average 5' 8" tall even though their beloved CEO is 6'2" tall, no one can sit behind him. Plus price along with quality is the other point.1 point

True, and the full size SUVs are new, as is the Corvette. The rest of their US product line is just forgettable FWD appliances.1 point

Driving in Italy is definitely an adventure...I enjoyed my vacations there back in the mid 00s...driving a diesel manual Mercedes A140 from Rome to Pompeii and Salerno (along the Amalfi coast) and back was an adventure. And driving from Milan to the lakes up north in a Vectra diesel was fun. I remember the fast food at Spizzico's in the Autogrill rest areas to be tasty.1 point

That too, then why would they waste so much time and resources to make all these pressers about niche products like a 200,000 dollar sedan that no one will buy? That's the part where i said earlier that GM still needs to provide full resources to redesign and introduce and keep their current vehicle lines fresh.1 point

GM won't be dependent on a proprietary charging network, though? I assume they are building product to use the standard charging stations..1 point

More Tesla News - Seems Tesla is looking at Central USA for building their CyberTruck and Semi. https://electrek.co/2020/03/10/tesla-build-cybertruck-central-usa-possibly-texas/ Even with Covad19 virus, Tesla is moving forward with expansion to meet demand and add Semi truck and cybertruck building to the Shanghai plant on top of added battery production capacity along with all power plant production and more. https://electrek.co/2020/03/11/tesla-gigafactory-shanghai-drone-video-massive-new-building/#more-125964 Seems that Motorcycle companies are getting into the electric bike business where they are reasonable in price, averaging $1,688 per bike. They can go 20 mph on throttle alone or 25 mph with pedal assist. Have to say, they are pretty cool bikes. https://electrek.co/2020/03/11/csc-ft750-electric-bicycle-review-csc-motorcycles/ First Mustang Mach e review https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/ford-mustang-mach-e-awd-suv-electric-ev-ridealong/ Have to say after reading this, I am more excited to see one in person and test drive it. I am really liking the looks of this EV! Seems 6 out of 10 buyers for the first year are conquest buyers from other EVs.1 point

Interesting, one local burger chain, yes their burgers are very yummy is asking for people to use plastic rather than cash over concerns that covad19 could be on the money. https://www.seattletimes.com/business/local-business/dicks-drive-in-urges-customers-to-avoid-paying-with-cash-to-slow-spread-of-coronavirus/ This does make me think we could see a bigger push to go digital currency like Sweden has done with less than 5% of transactions cash now compared to plastic. Canada just surpassed Sweden in the use of cashless transactions. https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/which-are-the-world-s-most-cashless-countries.html1 point

Good read for those interested in the covad19, my local hospital is leading the efforts. Not a single patient to patient transfer nor has a single employee gotten sick. Very good practices at this outstanding hospital. https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/health/how-a-team-of-seattle-area-doctors-discovered-the-nations-first-major-outbreak-of-coronavirus/ For those that like Engineering projects, the worlds longest pedestrain bridge is being built at SeaTac airport to connect the international arrival terminal to the main airport rather than have everything under ground. Pretty impressive on the web site. https://www.portseattle.org/blog/five-fast-facts-about-iaf-pedestrian-walkway The pictures and video are very cool to see the big planes taxing underneath it. To be completed and opened this coming fall. Interesting note is that Covad19 is not slowing down international travel as much as I would have thought here.1 point

It is going to be interesting the next few years to watch the new GM EVs and see how they are received in the market and how they sell...1 point

Well, since it is BOF, it has truck DNA.. definitely not a CUV. People still refer to truck-based SUVs like Tahoes, etc as trucks. Yes, and those bags often leak. But I have a Weathertech mat and a liner in the back of my Jeep. I haul many bags of molch, grass seed, pottering soil, small trees, shrubs, etc during planting season.1 point

If SUV still had the rear opening glass as a common feature, I don't think there would be any need for these but virtually none of them do and you can still throw lumber in the bed of a min truck that you can't really do in most SUVs.1 point
-
I also dont see the value of a two seat unibody mini truck here other than potentially a very bargain price. If you don't have room to park a midsize truxk, wouldn't you be better served by something that can hold some passengers too on occasion? Pretty easy to rent a BOF truck on those days or hours you might need one.1 point

Well, the good news there is that the automakers are going to keep building the upcoming EVs as they planned. As long as the cost to charge are quite affordable- I think they will continue to grow- just a little slower than planned. Think there will be a good mix of both EV and ICE for a while....1 point

I agree, A little truck is pretty much a wagon without the roof, but wagon 100 times m ore useful. But people want to be "cool" I would rather have this Over this1 point

No EV does crazy volume, Model 3 does pretty well though. But Ford is built on the F150, Explorer and Escape, GM on Silverado, Equinox, Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade, Toyota the Corolla, Camry, RAv4, etc. These brands do most of the business on a few core models. EV's are vanity projects that sell 20k units a year for most brands. What someone (other than Tesla) needs is an EV that is one of their big sellers. Whoever can get an EV that is selling 300k units a year is going to gain massive advantage. That is what I'd like to see GM crack the code with the Chevy SUV, can they make an electric SUV that sells in Equinox volume.1 point

1000 lbs is 12 bags of concrete mix. Put a driver in the vehicle and drop that to 10. Oh; you don't need to buy 10 bags of Sakrete? Fine, make it 10 cases of Coronavirus supplies/water. Just put a trunklid on it. God- even SUVs with steel roofs & tinted rear glass get cargo covers - and you're not carrying lumber in either one. I mean- just buy an SUV/CUV and have some versatility.1 point

Cadillac aims for the exact same demographic as mercedes, which is how the 2 brand's ABA are only about 4 years apart.1 point
-
Those lil teeny mini pick-ups are pointless - it's a compact car missing a trunk lid. Just put a frickin trunk lid on it already; give the 5-lb bag of potting soil some weather protection and security. Why cheap out??1 point

Glad you made it there and back and no bugs that you know of came home with you then? I hear all of Italy is under lock n key now till the coronavirus is over. So basic transportation, so was the interior just all hard plastics and basic cloth seats then?1 point

Wow, all the Bronco news today has me stoked! I love the senior version, but the Sport would make much more sense as a daily. Both look great, imo. And Ford showed their new mini truck to dealers today, positive reviews on that as well, but no photos of course. A regular cab Ford mini truck with AWD would be awesome!1 point
