  1. You guys were on this like flies on sh*t. I had edited it out quickly. My God. Next Monday, August 17, is National Vanilla Custard Day. If you have a Culver's near you, things with vanilla custard are half off. Check. And, raise your custard treat as a "cheers" to Robert DeNiro's birthday. I think it's on the 17th. I have a friend, a "paesano," with a b-day on the 18th who told me that.

  10. You listed 'XTS' twice, so your list would be '6'. The ATS and CTS are still right there in the catalog, they just have new generations with altered names, so your list drops to '4'. SRX was replaced with a new generation product with an altered name... so your list drops to '3'. Now add back in the brand new models XT4 and XT6. That's a net cut of ONE. Don't you need to be decent at math to work in a loan department? Those would be "failures" by your definition. You mean one of the most brutal & acclaimed performance sports sedans of all time? The one that burst into the German segment, up-ended their comfort levels and stole their market share? That 'strategy'?

  11. This sled has existed for a while but, today, I saw it on line for the very first time. I was trying to figure out if Mercedes or Bentley built it for the Chinese president and other VIPs. Turns out it's made by an expensive niche Chinese auto manufacturer and these cars cost about $ 1 M (US equivalent) each. It looks more like a butt ugly and expensive cross between an early '60s Rambler and a late '60s Toyota on steroids.

  12. Well, in South Korea, they do not buy non-Korean products if they can help it. Here in the USA, Ioniq MAY have a chance. I hope Elon Musk is ready to see a lot of Tesla orders disappear over there.

What I presented is based off of your own words and complaints. Call it whatever you want. I call it being a hypocritical whiny little troll.

  19. No you weren’t. Your only gripe was with the subject matter at the time. Others were actually discussing it while you whined like a five year old because it’s supposedly not a random thought. Maybe you should try somewhere else on which to peddle your lies and non-stop whining about any subject matter that does not appeal to you. It would be a welcome change of pace for you “foo”.

Then, in sheer irony of it all, goes to that thread and trolls and complains there as well. But hey, “I've never taken it so phoquing personal”

  25. ^ Really? What was Cadillac's high performance sports sedan market share prior to the appearance of the CTS-V? When you have a brand that's never offered their own interpretation of such a vehicle, then -once it arrives and had been around for going on 20 years now- garners instant cred and even eclipses the established players... that's the OPPOSITE of 'failed'. Mercedes / BMW have to not only acknowledge, but keep pace with the Cadillac V-series. That's the very definition of 'success'.

  26. FYI, I gave it a confused look as the auto is confused and does not know what the hell it wants to be. Talk about just one of the weirdest auto's out there. But then what do you expect from a Dictatorship country where freedom of expression is so limited.

  27. Still better than you sharing an opinion of an EV and him whining and crying about it...

  28. Cadillac tried that strategy 15 years ago and it failed and they keep going for it and kept failing. I want a Nurburgring carving auto, but most people don't buy cars like that. And Porsche, BMW and Mercedes already have that market covered. Cadillac needs to forge a new path. Cadillac spent 15 years trying to be German, failed at it, time to try being American. And interestingly enough the only successful product they made in the past 15 years is the most American and most like an old school Cadillac. With an aging population (and an overweight America) I think cars/SUVs that are easy to get in and out of (proper ride height) that are roomy and glide over bumps in our deteriorating roads and have good torque for smooth acceleration would do well. EV's give you torque, roomy and quiet interior, so going al EV gets them half way there, if they can put together the other half and get the marketing. Because not only has it been a long time since I rock and rolled, it has been a long time since Cadillac made a good ad.

  29. Musk also thinks that aliens built the Pyramids... The more he smokes the ganja, the more he is married to that dumb wife of his, the more his business decisions willbe questioned. I predict they kick him out soon. Just like Apple did with Steve Jobs. There is a difference. Jobs KNEW what techy products to dream up and to sell through Apple...a TECH company. One could call Tesla a tech company...but its automotive branch is an AUTOMOTIVE company no matter how we slice it... And the more Musk gets ridiculous, the more his AUTOMOTIVE competitors will catch up and eventually beat him in his own game... I dunno what he is thinking about his end game with Tesla the automotive branch. Is he satisfied that all automakers will be producing EVs and THAT was his end game to begin with, or if he is completely down with dominating the automotive world, but Ford and GM are 1 step closer to replicate the tech that Tesla vehicles employ. The Mustang Mach-E is very very on par with Tesla performance. And Tesla performance includes ALL criteria. To 0-60 times. To quarter mile times. To charging times. To range. (So Ford says, granted) To even pre-orders. The Corvette C8 just got its 1st recall. And the recall could be made over-the-air. And the C8 aint even an EV... And you would be wrong to think that the Corvette does not have Tesla beating branding. Because it does... THAT would the one General Motors car that Tesla has NO answer for... And please, dont bring up the Roadster 2.0. It has nothing on the Vette. Any Vette. Even an emissions crippled 305, crappy styled '82.

  30. I know. I KNOW!!! Its sad when I have to resort to insulting my great neighbor to the south. Not gunna get into politics...but..its mighty hard not hatin' on a certain American political climate going on right about now. Wrap that up with politicized rhetoric on PPEs and faux freedom talk while the nation goes down the drain in many many....many...many facets in everyday American life...JUST to keep the nation continually divided all for political control and THAT certainly spills over into MY country...and you folk will definitely see a snide side from me. Sorry, eh. And hence the phoquing red ink downvotes whenever I sees anything that is regarding EVs in a negative way... NOT that Im into EVs...Well I am...to a degree... But PHOQUE ALL MIGHTY!!!! WE PHOQUING GET IT!!! YOU PHOQUING HATE EVs!!! GREAT! NOW GTFO WITH YOUR SHYTE OPINION ON THEM! IGNORE THE EV COMMENT AND MOVE THE PHOQUE ON!!! BECAUSE ITS THAT PHOQUING BRAIN DEAD DIVISIVE SHYTE THAT I CANT STAND ANY LONGER FROM MY NEIGHBORS TO THE SOUTH!!!

  31. Disagree, This makes sense to have Ioniq as the EV subbrand of Hyundai. As ICE dwindles, eventually Hyundai will retire and Ioniq will be the bread and butter.
    1 point
  32. Too many brands. In 20 years every car will be electric, so making an EV only brand makes no sense, because then when Hyundai is EV only, Kia is EV only, and Genesis is EV only and Ioniq is EV only, you just have overlap. The other big issue is cost. They have to market an entirely new brand that people won't know, which will cost a ton of money because they aren't Tesla. Look at how much money has been spent on Genesis to get about 10% the volume of some competitors. It think it will cost double what Genesis cost to get going, because you are launched a new brand and trying to overcome EV vs gas also. The billions they will spend in marketing could have gone into product.

  37. Hi Drew, I know most of the smart head units now have theme that allows you to choose the background image. Reading the owners guide for my head unit which I have never changed the default theme, it would seem that you can do this. I will test it it on my system this week and let ya know. My habit is to remote start the auto, unlock, get in and plug in my phone and the first thing I see is the Android screen, so I honestly have not looked to see what it does when you manually start the auto. I will test this and let you know.

  39. 19:25 in the video. I don't see anything in that segment that proves it's all CGI. - - - - - Legally, a 2023 model can go on sale Jan 1, 2022. Cadillac did that sort of thing with the first CTS.

  41. @ocnblu Got it. 3G is the first two digits of the VIN. 3 is country code Mexico and G is for GM. So it was a Mexican built GM and there were only two of those on the list, the Avalanche and the EXT. While I wouldn't have said no to an EXT, an Avalanche popped up that I couldn't NOT buy. So, I have bought what is likely the lowest mileage 2013 Avalanche in the country. All the paperwork and loan has been finalized, I just have to pick it up on Wednesday. It's a Blue Topaz 2013 LTZ Black Diamond with only 12,800 miles on the clock. I paid $32,990 and Carvana gave me $8,100 for the Cruze. It checks all my boxes for heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, remote start. The only thing is doesn't have that I would have liked is a sunroof, but for such a museum piece, I will survive without it.

  42. They don’t have shit until its certified. Remember that other German co that said their EV would get 390 miles on range, but testing barely returned 300?

  43. A-aaaaand they said the original Seville would start at $8K, and when it came out it was $12K. The Lyriq is too far from the showroom floor to pin it down now. Yet no one buys it. Seeing as how the base Corvette already is doing 2.8 secs, there’s plenty of room. Doesn’t really matter obviously; no one buys the 2.6 sec SUV as it is. Perhaps you don’t understand the consumer demographic like you think you do.

  45. This was designed as an EV, so that's not going to happen...and we are talking about GM..it would have had a transverse 2.0 4 had it been an ICE product.. I'd love to have seen GM build a powerful V8 CUV to compete w/ the Cayenne, but that window of opportunity is past...GM's future is electric as they have stated. GM is committed to the EV future...whether they will be successful or not only time will tell...
