  2. Not sure which Alternative or Regular segment this should be in due to Renault not saying what will power it other than alternative forms of Powertrain which means it could be ICE, Hybrid or EV. Renault seems to want to take on Jeep in Europe and possibly Ford as they showed off their brand new Bigster Concept SUV. While not much is known other than them showing it off and saying it will take you to places that most auto's including the competition cannot take you. Clearly a little X-Terra, Wrangler, Bronco, etc. can be found in the SUV. Dacia introduces Bigster concept | Autoblog

  6. Mach-E has a better ride, Apple/Android car play, more amenities and much better quality for a much cheaper price. Ford is the better buy vs. the Model Y.

  9. The weekend, hmmm.....what toys could we go play with over the weekend...? Building an entertainment denter tomorrow with a friend for his stereo equipment in his workshop. Finishing a few other things. So tomorrow will be s shop day. About 6 or 7 tommorrow I will take a shower and read. Right now reading "On The Plain of Snakes" by Paul Theroux. Tonight going hiking with my wife along the river front, Columbus has some cool paved trails. Will finish tonight by finishing my laundry and reading. Sunday Buckeye Trail and Ash Cave hikes down in hocking hills with my wife, followed by some more reaing, I think.

  11. Thank you. I love the Montreal Botanical Garden ... the whole city and area, actually. Easily my favorite city in Canada. Even before it became cool and the hipsters and counterculture idiots descended on the Plateau neighborhood. I have only seen the botanical garden in the fall. They indicate with signage that the visitor's experience will differ depending on the month and season in which they are visiting. I'm sure that spring and summer might have more ideal conditions in the botanical garden while, in fall, there's a tradeoff because you get peak autumn color instead. That's one of the nicer things about the Seattle area. It gets dusted infrequently, lightly, and it melts quickly but, while it lasts, it's downright glorious. The best view is driving across the floating bridges westward into the city and seeing the snow capped Olympics in the distance on a cold, clear day.

  12. Uhh, DeLorean Motor Company (Humble TX) is an existing company that owns the brand/rights, the car, parts, etc, etc, and has been working toward getting their vehicle back into production again. There's not going to be any Euro- rip off version without an immediate cease & desist / lawsuit.

  19. Fixed that for you, Balthazar. I can easily upvote this. the Buick is genuinely nice. I ahve a korean built Chevy, its flawless and runs great. I plan to drive it to Mexico when Covid clears, maybe down further into Central America. While I like the Gm products here, I don't think they are ultiamtely competitive with the other Korean products, the Hyundai and Kia vehicles that seem to sell so well in the CUV/SUV segment.

  20. Crazy is as Crazy does. Seems Jeep will launch their 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid in Europe first. As such, they have a web site for people to register so that they can reserve/order one first. No time line for the US has been announced, but prices are a bit shocking. Quote: Black, Granite Crystal, and Bright White are the only options on the First Edition palette. Jeep points out they're the three colors that European customers prefer. LED headlights, Granite Crystal accents, 18-inch wheels, and a hard cover for the spare tire are also found on the list of standard features. Inside, the launch model offers an 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation, smartphone connectivity, and an information screen in the instrument cluster. Jeep made no mechanical changes to the First Edition, so it's powered by a gasoline-electric plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission. The system's total output checks in at 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. It weighs nearly 5,000 pounds, yet it posts a six-second sprint from zero to 60 mph. Significantly, the electronics (including the 17-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack) are fully protected from the elements. Like the non-hybrid Wrangler, the 4xe is capable of driving through up to 30 inches of water. Cost: France - Starts at $87,300 Germany - Starts at $92,500 Switzerland - Starts at $96,000 Clearly a luxury auto in Europe. 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe First Edition detailed for the European market | Autoblog

  21. Let's not forget he has his mom in a Kia on top of those two auto's he posted are not built in America last time I checked by Korea. Porsche has their less than $80,000 Taycan with the current battery pack, so prices are coming down. Mercedes's has the Cost of Diesel gate hitting the bottom line and as such has been cutting back everywhere both ICE and EV. Will be interesting to see how they do as right now they are more focused on China and Europe with additional delays in the US.

  23. Because you’re so cerebral right? Not because you’re still on a thread about an EV, where you always offer such an objective comment in regards to them lol. So over the last few months, that wasn’t you touting Hyundais, Kias, and little three banger cars like the Escape while mocking the performance of much faster EVs? My mistake. Must have been some other pitiful hypocrite.

  27. Moved on to off road, camping, getting ready to take the motorcycle safety class, woodworking, reading, watching good movies, hiking, square dancing (before the pandemic) my wood turning club, tool collecting, tool restoration, drinking good wine, drinking craft beer, visiting various cities in the midwest, planning on some international travel after covid, rebuilding old friendships, growing and finding new friendships, studying architecture, studying classical art, listening to classical music, Pizza, Greek food, Thai Food, Indian Food, helping my friend rebuild a hundred year old victorian house, and attempting to get 8 hours of sleep a night. Did I mention good craft Beer? Rather sadly, a young woman who is a friend of a friend just passed away in a terrible automobile accident in Indiana. Karley was 27 and leaves behind small children and a husband. Carpe diem, live each day to the fullest!

  28. I really really loved this song in back in 1987. As time marched forward and unto the 1990s, I had forgotten about it. About a decade ago, I came across this song again. And since then, I keep on coming back to it from time to time. Makes me warm and fuzzy inside. Something about it just makes me remember Montreal summers in the 1980s more than any other song of that time period. I have no idea why other than I really really loved that song in 1987... It wasnt even my favorite song. I just enjoyed it...a lot. And now...I enjoy it even more.

  31. The Model Y is faster and cheaper although I prefer the Mach-E’s interior with an actual center screen. The Model Y has more range too. They are comparable, but the Tesla seems like the better buy. But I don’t think the iD4 or Bolt compare well to the Model Y and the iD4 isn’t even on sale yet. Talk about aiming too low. Also brand image matters a lot, Tesla brand image is Mercedes/BMW level and maybe better. Ford/VW are a far cry from that. I imagine all things being equal, people would pay $5k more for a Tesla than a VW or Ford.

  34. OUCH Ford, Recalling 2006 to 2012 auto's for Airbag issues. $610 Million charge. 36. What is embarrassing is no one else makes an EV as good as Tesla. The Taycan is fast, but doesn't have the range of a Model S and it costs more. Taycan interior looks nicer, but the Model S is old. And after seeing the EQA, I am thinking Mercedes is putting not enough motor and too much price into their EV's.

  37. I was just going to put up this song because it reminded me of a discussion I had with someone within the last few months. The song is a TRIBUTE to outgoing FLOTUS Melania Trump. Evidently, Melania met The Donald at a nightclub or party for A-list Manhattanites. He needed to trade up to an even younger spouse and Melania must have fit the bill. They exchanged phone numbers and the rest is history. The person I was having the discussion with agreed that, yes, she was digging for gold, given the age difference and the fact that she was running on fumes and her allowed time in the U.S. might have come to an end. So, we understood why she would marry The Donald. However, she most likely envisioned being a successful businessman and developer's wife, and all the typical duties that tend to go with that role ... with "typical" being the operative word. I think she's slightly cool for her being European, having that accent, and teaching her kid to speak Slovenian. She seems to have done a good job as a mom and seems very proud of that part of her life. I don't think that she would have ever envisioned as much scrutiny and attention she was subjected to, including having to get up and speak at national conventions, pitch her husband, and be thrust into politics. She had to do WAY more than what anyone agreeing to marry someone very wealthy would have had to do. With that in mind:

  41. Considering the XT6 starts at $52,695, Aviator starts at $51,100, give me the Aviator all day. 3.0TT over that mediocre 3.6. The Grand Cherokee L supposedly is going to start right around 40k, which seems low but we also only have seen high end models. I certainly want to see this color, Wilder Metallic, on a vehicle and not just the "build and price". I can't seem to find a "real" picture of one.

  42. The last 30 years did seem to go by fast. I just finished being a teen in 1991, became an adult exactly in 1991 (18 years old) . Although I was and still am a teen at heart LOL. Experienced what young adults experience at the fullest. Started a business. Met a wonderfully smart and beautiful young lady. Got married to her. 2 kids that are teens themselves right about now. Bruce knew what he was talking about even though he was in his 30s when he released this song Although I aint done livin' by a looooong shot. I got a helluva lot more to accomplish, I may have to start thinkin' I aint no teenager no more. It may be embarrassing for my kids and wife... NAH! Boys will always be boys! THAT is how I will live longer. YOUNG at heart!!! Besides...there are even more glory days to come! And I cant wait to experience them! One day at a time!
