One main thing here though, the Hummer is real and if that wasn't 100% production ready(that was shown) it is very close. The Cybertruck was miles from being street legal when it was showed so we don't even know what a Cybertruck really is yet.4 points

So... a week ago stop at the dealer and the guy tells me the order was logged on 12/24, but that GM factories are closed down from X-mas thru the end of Jan, and they have no confirmation. Strangely, the UAW national calendar for 2020/2021 shows them going back to work on 1/3. Anyway, my order won't get placed until more like Feb 1. ... which pushes delivery back to maybe last week of April / 1st wk of May. -SIGH- So I've gone back to the GMClocator. Found the right configuration, sans spray-in bedliner, in central PA about 99 miles from me. My dealer told me I'd pay somewhere between MSRP and dealer invoice ($55K - $53K, so let's say $52K)... and this PA truck is $48K. Thinking about cancelling the order, getting my deposit back and buying off-lot. Downsides??4 points

A feasible rendering of the Z06 version of the C8 which the rendering mimics the C8R to a tee as reference. (it IS the C8R. The C7 and C6 Z06s do really mimic their respective 'R' versions) The rest are high priced toys. Functional toys. In the same spirit as that poster. I search a 250 mile radius from my zip. 2021 Sierra 1500 count: 2200 trucks. Put it crew cab / 6.5’ bed Elevation 3.0L Duramax and it drops to 8. I’ll flex on color other than black & white are out.3 points

yes What fault is it of the engineering of FoMoCo and its Mach E if the infrastructure is not well kept? It becomes a PROBLEM for EVs if the infrastructure sucks, but its NOT an inherent EV problem. I found out though, that EV haterz will use ANYTHING to detract the use of EVs ANY which way they can to SLUR EVs... PS: Tesla was smart to build its OWN infrastructure though as to NOT have ANY 3rd party phoque ups wrecking the image of EVs... such as this...3 points

Yes, software engineering/IT remains a strong field...plenty going on in NE Ohio, and with everyone looking for 100% remote currently, my 3 1/2 years of full time remote experience works in my favor. 'Office Space' felt like a documentary to me..it reminded me a lot of corporate IT in the 90s. A more recent one was the show 'Silicon Valley' which was a brilliant satire of startup company culture.3 points

None. If you see something you like, especially at a better price, go get it without hesitation. I learned when I was looking for my car, good deals don't last very long.3 points

Yes! In today's Bizarro world of multiple (lazy) ways of making income, higher income definitely over higher education. I was referencing a late 1980s poster theme. I like this theme so much that I tend to (over)use it still today! With that being said tho...isnt hair brained schemes trying to make fast money THE quintessential American Dream? FINALLY, after all these decades, the internet comes through for the lazy, no good rascal to make some dough. His time has come!2 points

This is NOT a Conspiracy Theory, the Diesel exhaust have been known to leak into the school buses. Children are not dropping dead, but they are breathing fumes that are pretty high levels and is not healthy. Plenty of studies that show the dangers on School buses from colleges and other science sources. You can believe what you want, but the way school buses are built, cheap and very uninsulated and loose, we now have the science that proves how toxic they are to our kids. 04.04.2005 - More exhaust inhaled by kids inside school buses than by others in the area, says study (berkeley.edu) School Bus Fumes - Science Updates - Science NetLinks More Exhaust Inhaled By Kids Inside School Buses Than By Others In The Area, Says Study -- ScienceDaily Study from 2001 that has been pounding on the importance to move away form diesel school buses due to the toxic nature. I observed it differently. Saw quite a bit of Hummer coverage; yes- not as much as the cybertruck... but I think the Hummer significantly eclipses the cybertruck in actuality. We’ll see once the production & price of both happens- I think the Hummer is excellently positioned to pull off another ‘Escalade event’.2 points

Well.... certainly ‘higher income’ (not necessarily ‘higher education’; there’s youtube flakes making millions off of nothingness).2 points

LOL I was thinking the SAME thing last night to post. I was just too tired (lazy) to do it. So I just posted the Corvette C8 video and went to bed. Enema and the next word would be: EMINEM (the only song I truly know and like from him...only because the sample of the song was a hit for me in da clubs back in the day)2 points

That tidbit of news is bitter sweet. Backlogged with regular Stingray orders just shows how popular the C8 is and will continue to be. But...the Z06 halo car is eagerly awaited by most enthusiasts (even enthusiasts that are not Corvette people) JUST to see what the car can do. What is mental with the C8 is that with ONLY (less than) 500 horsepower, the performance times are those of vehicles that have 50-60-70% MORE power. Electric or gasoline... The track performances of the regular Z51 Stingray is so close to sports cars that are dedicated track cars. Patience is a virtue as they say.2 points

In your line of work, things don't appear to be that cyclical ... or maybe I'm wrong about that. STEM is typically a good route, if you're cut out to do that type of work. Good luck with your selecting an offer that works for you. I'm thinking you lived "Office Space" at one time or another. That movie never stops being funny. And, for me, the icing on the comic cake is the wound up Middle Eastern/South Asian character with the great accent.2 points

Can't wait to see the hardcore Prius owners heads explode from overthinking the Hummer name and EV together as one. ?? Like I previously stated, GM (and other manf's) will still build the high profit vehicles that sell really well in North America for decades to come...fullsize ICE BOF pickup trucks and SUV's, but will start to offer a BEV truck based on this HummerEV as well.1 point

Elon knows how to throw a party. And when he does, the world invites itself to the festivities. GM had that after the war and well into the '60s. GM still has it, but for certain vehicles only. But I do agree that the Cybertruck is a clown show. I do think it will look like that as Tesla has many deposits for that exact Cybertruck. He cant go back on it now. Tesla will lose too much credibility if they change up the looks of it now. If When the initial sales dwindle to nothing, Elon WILL change it. He said so. The HUMMER promises to be an EXCELLENT EV. What GM has been giving out as info over their EV tech, it promises to be on par or greater than what Tesla has got going on. The only thing is that Tesla's tech is improving too so when the HUMMER and the Lyriq come out, Tesla wont be where they are at now. But I think GM knows this as GM has been in this type of "warfare" for over 100 years. GM EV R&D has been 100% full throttle for 3 years now. People tend to forget that. INCLUDING Sandy Munro. But that just proves ME right when I say shyte like if it aint a Tesla EV...1 point

I see ‘it’s not a Tesla’ falling away rapidly as more BE’s come online. Tesla WILL lose market share. Hummer just seems to blow away the silly cybertruck and the Rivian, right off the bat. Looking forward to real world reviews.1 point

Now...let's hope that the EV public will accept it. There are several things that are against it and it isnt even out yet. 1. Its NOT a Tesla 2. Because its a GM product and NOT a Tesla 3. Its name is HUMMER. 20 years ago, It quickly went from a stud to a dud BECAUSE green people shunned it for being a gas guzzling SUV. We do not know if GM/GMC and/or HUMMER shook that stigma off, even if it IS 20 years ago in the past... 4. We already know that there are some ICE people that will hate on EVs no matter what...so this EV HUMMER cant even rely on the macho-ness of the big, brutish V8 SUV crowd... Like you have implied with Cadillac going all in with EVs but Chevy will continue on selling V8s and ICEs... The big brutish SUV crowd will just ignore this and go on and buy Yukons, Tahoes and TRX's from Dodge...1 point

Excellent news. I still think about a few cars I didn't buy, a 68 GTO and a 57 Ford Ranchero in particular. Curious to see what you do in the vehicle department. Cactus Grey ranger to go with my black one wight be really nice in the C and G fleet. Although i am not going to be able to afford the special bespoke sand color (Sand Dune). They had a sand dune Zr2 at my local chevy dealer, it didn't hang round long before it was sold. Although for fifty large, I could really see myself buying a Chevy Trail Boss. That's a healthy discount. No downsides other than the time you spend taking pics so the rest of us can see it.1 point

You want a Dark Sky Elevation Crew Cab Standard (6.5') Box Duramax, right? I punched into GMC's locator and searched 250 miles from my zip, I saw zero trucks in that combo, I did see one for $48k with the short (5.5') box though (maybe I am wrong on your favored combo, or I skipped over it in the locator). I know it is a pain waiting for a factory-ordered vehicle, I've been there. I'd be doing the same thing you're doing. If you can find the right one, snatch it up!1 point

The C8 Corvette will have limited availability outside of the U.S., I believe AUS with a right hand drive model coming and parts of EMEIA because it's so sought after. It will definitely have different powertrain layouts overseas as it will here as well with the Z06 possibly having a Hybrid drivetrain option and Zora being a 1,000 hp Hybrid-Hypercar. What I'm saying is GM understands that one reason people buy a Corvette is for the sound of the engine and exhaust, just like your AMG models. It's never going to take away from the fact that the Model S is more of a hog at 5,000 lbs. than even the porky Dodge Challenger Hellcat at 4,300 lbs. You talk about the Model S Performance version, but everybody knows it's not a track car in any way and it will never corner like the 3,400 lb. C8 Corvette. Performance version for Tesla just means more weight with dual and now triple motors and more battery packs to keep a palatable range with the extra motors. I've sat in the Model S and Model 3 and I'm just not impressed, materials are cheap and the fit and finish are horrid for $60-$140k cars. Their QC suffers in order to get units out the door. They are constantly behind and I believe still lose money on every car, which sucks. We need them to be a competitive U.S. company and stick around as competition is a good thing. I really think Cadillac BEV's are going to show Tesla a thing or two about fit and finish in the next few years as they roll out. I'm hearing the same thing, that they're still backlogged with 2020 base C8 orders. 18 mo. wait if you ordered one today. Thanks Ronavirus you b@stard...1 point

This sounds like a wackadoodle conspiracy theory. The exhaust is not pumped into the interiors of the bus / children are not dropping dead from riding a school bus.1 point

No, c'mon; it's both statistically irrelevant and from a compromised source. Not admissible.1 point

THAT seems HIGHLY inefficient... WHY? Well...Paris' (France)subway system, which Montreal and Athens, Greece use, IS an electric powered subway. Our newer Azure trains Athens Metro anyway... 1. the subway system does NOT need to be recharged as there is a continual stream of electricity flowing through the middle rail... And at least in Montreal...its hydro-electric power. Dont know about France and Greece. (Dont really care either right about now...) 2. even as back as the 1980s, the system was autonomous. Actually, I think even NYC's old school subway is autonomous...also back in the '80s... and the next one is where Elon's idea might be shyte... 3. THESE are TRAINS... HUNDREDS OF TOURISTS AND REGULAR CITIZENS USE THE SUBWAY AT ONE TIME...rather than a shytty taxi service... And dont kid yourself...these trains are fast. 4. Some other countries use MAG LEVS that are even faster than Elon's cars... 5. Montreal will also get an electric train ABOVE ground in 2023...to operate alongside taxis, ubers, public buses, metros and the shytty old school train system we got...1 point

Some days I feel like getting a "boulevardier" as a second car just because ... I often search for such cars on line. I'm thinking a '94 to '96 Caprice Classic with the small V8, an early 2000s Grand Marquis with the 4.6L V8, a mid '80s GM full size with the 4.3 V6, or something like that that an elderly person - or any other type of person - stashed in their garage and took really good care of.1 point

Love the (could it be candy apple?) red paint job on that pick-up. I could tolerate the cream bumpers and grille and the cream coloured wheels. I HATE the style of wheels though spoiling the whole look of the pick-up for me. The wheels make it look too much of a toy for me. About the all white '55: LOVE the all white motif. I dont mind the white wheels. But again, the style chosen ruins it for me negating everything that I love about it. Had the Chevy was wearin' big white wall tires on 15 inch Cragar SS-es, I would have lusted over it.1 point

No... These are just EXCUSES from people closing their eyes and shutting theirs ears. Take example #1: Same as air inside as the outside. So...diesels emit a certain emission and when a diesel bus drives along a certain path, the air is the same inside the bus as it is outside IMMEDIATELY where it passes... Does THAT mean there is NO pollution? Like at all? The POLLUTUED air outside is the same inside the bus so THAT makes it OK to continue to pollute? Of course there is pollution! LAST link recommendations: Well...MY critical thinking tells ME: MONEY is the SOLE reason as to why NOTHING is BEING made for change... We are ALWAYS putting MONEY in front of HEALTH. MONEY is the SOLE driver... Dirty dirty money. And we IGNORE how dirty dirty dirty diesel is... Even when DAMNING reports are THERE...we CAREFULLY word things that its "safer" to 'NOT use passenger cars for transport because accidents' and 'MAINTAIN diesel buses to reduce...' NOTHING to do with how harmful diesels are and how we should avoid using diesels but DEFLECTING the issues by mentioning traffic accidents that have NOTHING to do with diesel emissions and maintenance as as somehow maintenance is the KEY to reducing harmful emissions. ALL maintenance does is NOT increase the emissions due to broken down mechanicals but the harmful emissions are STILL present with perfectly fine mechanicals... But yeah...critical thinking...0 points
