  1. ^ Clouded judgment. I would think a permitted/allowed business in a commercial zone would have a solid case to sue the city- far lesser claims have overturned a knee-jerk municipal ordinance before. Electric car sales in CA have fallen every 6 month period since the first half of 2015 (thru the first half of 2020). Electric trucks have risen, but they peaked in the first half of 2019 (they were down slightly in the 2nd half of '19, so pre-COVID). CA has 256 thousand BE vehicles registered (USDoE), and 15 MILLION registered total. Build charging stations- that's fine. But stop 'oppressing' IC consumers.

  2. SAD and unnecessary. NO need to BAN new gas stations if the demand for EVs rises over time. This knee-jerk reaction is rather stupid.

  7. ^ I guess the restorer put those louvered inserts on; the VentiPorts are open & functional in ‘49.

  8. Dealer told me a few weeks ago that GM was scheduled to build a run of Duramax 1500s starting 2/25... first a batch of Denalis and AT4s, then the rest of the trims. I have no idea how long time-wise they'll build the upper trims; there's 3 plants, and the next interval would be around beginning of June. I have no ida of the speed GM builds these, or how many shifts. I hope it's no longer than 2 weeks on the upper trims.

  9. Name: 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Duramax Category: Vehicles Date Added: 2021-01-06 Submitter: balthazar 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Duramax Dealer today said still waiting for order acceptance. States my timing was perfect; GM builds the trucks in runs (proper term: 'allocations') of a particular engine. GM is going to do a run of the 3.0L Duramax next. If I had missed that allocation, it might be 2-3 months longer wait for the next batch. Should get an update in a week or so that order was accepted.

  10. Will stop posting car pics as I ahve to go home, finish my laundry, and deal with some repairs and issues around the house. But I really like the pre 55 post war GM cars...this is damn near perfect.

  11. ^ They clearly went in with a preconceived notion. If it didn't have a Sport/manual shift mode, they would've lamented the absence. But it has it and they dub the inclusion as "odd"... I'll go ahead and assume 'because it's a Buick'.

  15. Feels relevant here... "Buick's new second-gen Envision is attractive and less expensive than other compact luxury SUVs, but it's more of a premium pretender than actually premium. It's not that the completely redesigned, second-generation Envision isn't visually appealing or packed with popular features. That's true on both counts. But beyond those basic prerequisites, the Envision lacks the driving joy and truly upscale traits that might help it transcend its position as a compact luxury SUV poseur." https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a35606676/2021-buick-envision-by-the-numbers/

  16. Chain convenience stores around here seem to be co-sited with name brand gas stations around here...Shell, BP, Sunoco w/ branded convenience stores seem to be common. Looks like I only bought gas for my Jeep 3 times in 2020. Was a strange year.

  17. Here the growth area is chain convenience stores wanting to put in gas pumps, also. We have Wawa thru a number of east coast states, and they closed/tore down a store because the township wouldn't allow them to put in pumps, then built new stores (with pumps) in adjacent townships to the north & south of the old site. QuickChek is another chain- just built 2 new stores within the last 12-24 months in my immediate area, both with pumps but none with chargers.

  18. Meh, plenty of gas stations the way it is..is there any need to add more? The places I've lived the last 20 years, I'm more used to seeing gas stations being closed, not opened. About the only areas I've seen getting new stations are new suburban developments..

  19. The Motley Fool is reporting today that Fisker has dropped plans to use solid state batteries, despite claiming they had achieved a "break-through" in the system when they announced it in 2017. The claim then was a possible 500 mile range and recharging in as low as 1 minute, but today Henrik Fiskar stated the technology was far more difficult than they initially figured. As an aside, QuantumScape -the company working on the same system for VW- sued Fisker for theft of trade secrets... and Fisker settled for $750K.

  20. EVERY review said that. But even looking at it, it is clear. RDX has more powerful engine: 272hp/280ft-lbs vs 230hp/258hp. It has much better AWD system: SH-AWD is significantly better than FWD based system Buick has. RDX has more cargo space. Dynamically reading reviews for both it is definitely superior than the Envision. I can say that Buick has only one thing that is better - the exterior looks. My wife's previous car was MDX that we drove for 100k miles, no issues. My wife's current car is MDX Hybrid - year and a half, 20k no issues. My parents own 2016 CR-V - no issues, my mother in law owns 2013 CR-V (almost 100k miles) - no issues.

  30. Dfelt, please do not wish for a matte finish paint. They are a complete PITA to keep. You cannot polish them, you have to be careful washing them, etc. etc. The Ironman Kona has matte gray paint... it is not friendly in the least. My Ioniq 5 will be the teal color, inside and out.

  32. UPDATE : Apprently GM closes down completely for a month starting at Christmas. So my order placed 12/23 isn't, actually, "placed" yet. That means: order in in beginning of Feb, then add 8-12 weeks. Suddenly, March has become May. Sadness. On the other hand, this gives me the rest of January to stalk gmclocator.com, and possibly find an on lot version I can make a better deal on. It's grotesquely unlikely, because anytime I search within a 250 radius, there's like 4 trucks that match my baseline. And 3.75 of them are either white or black.

  33. Petaluma City California in 2019 put a moratorium on new gas stations. Now in 2021, the city has now made it permanent, a ban on all new gas stations. The focus is on Charging stations and moving to an EV auto city. Petaluma City Council moves to ban new gas stations (petaluma360.com)
