Good morning, We apologize strongly with regards to the Spam message you received overnight. We were attacked by Spam bots and they have been dealt with. In addition to addressing the bot that attacked us yesterday, we've implemented the following changes. Manual approval of all new accounts, any new user is approved by me personally before they are allowed to post anything or send Private Messages. New Users cannot PM more than 2 members until they've made 10 approved posts in our forums. New users cannot edit their About Me until 10 approved posts, this limits potential for profile link Spam. New Anti-Spam software subscription that bans messages sent from certain countries (all of the non-English speaking world) and also bans messages that contain commonly used Spam keywords. We feel that these measures we've taken will eliminate this issue from ever happening again. We are currently in process of cleaning up all 4,000+ private messages the Spam bots sent. We have been an active automotive forum for nearly 20 years and will be celebrating our 20th in August of this year. Warmest Regards, Drew Dowdell Editor in Chief CheersandGears.com4 points

GTFO with that. The folks that you back have been taking part in cancel culture for decades. NFL kneeling? Cancel them? Gay couples on tv? Cancel them? Gays adopting? Cancel that too. We go even farther with conservatives going after music in the 80s (PMRC anyone?) and religious groups trying to cancel things like Dungeons and Dragons. Let’s not forget the rampant censuring taking place amongst the GOP ranks, all because they are mad at other GOP members voting country over party. Just shut the entire F up with your hypocritical nonsense already. No one is buying it. Please though, tell us how YOU don’t stereotype folks here. You’ve done it to me and you’ve done it to there’s here so tell us why its different for you but not for us. You do a really nice job of stereotyping China so....4 points

Nine ways to deal with a Narcissist. NO It is ok to say no if you do not feel comfortable with someone Stay on Topic and Do not change the subject A narcissist will use any argument to make it about themselves, and about some mistake or hurt in the past that you have inflicted on them, whether real or perceived. I will believe it when I see it Narcissists have a bad habit of over-promising and under-delivering. I'm not overly emotional. I am assertive, strong willed and impassioned. Do not let someone else define your emotional state unless they are a licensed medical professional. I have learned from and move on from my mistakes Learning from mistakes is the key to being successful in work and in life. I refuse to be afraid Fear can be a powerful tool of manipulation, and a narcissist will wield it like a sword. Slow down there speedy Narcissists and other manipulators want to rush you into a bad decision that benefits them. I am not the bad guy here Narcissists will try to flip any argument or disagreement into why you are the bad guy and they are the sad little victim. The world does not revolve around you and your needs. Narcissists are the center of their own universe, but they are not the center of yours.3 points

The funny thing is some of the biggest 'cancelers' are the phony-ass 'Christian' right wing idiots with their constant calling of boycotts of anything and everything that 'offends' their delicate sensibilities...the mindless sheep that follow Faux News, etc.3 points

This, too, got a down vote from the resident man child?!? It's a time worn expression. It means that, for everything and everyone out there, there's a "buyer" or kindred soul. Or maybe he has never been to Atlanta ... The Confederate carving on Stone Mountain, about 15 to 20 miles east of downtown Atlanta: One can see downtown Atlanta's skyscrapers in the distance from atop Stone Mountain: One can take a cable sky ride up to the top ... and walk down ... or walk in both directions: This is Midtown - not even downtown: This is Perimeter - not even downtown: This is the soon to open Delta museum, where one of their retired 747-400s will be available to tour: In short, it's a very cosmopolitan metro area and full of people who know the score. Only $50 or so each way when on sale from many Northeastern airports. Highly recommended to broaden one's horizons.3 points

Nope not goofing, the bulk of trucks ARE NOT used for commercial or job type work like @balthazar Bulk of trucks are personal owned and used for various lite work loads. According to the GMC web site the Tailgate is 32" so for the Hummer at 5ft, you add the 32" when the tailgate is down and you have almost 8ft, more than enough for hauling all kinds of stuff. Same with Rivian, the tailgate down makes it more than long enough for most people hauling long stuff.2 points

Let me make it clear that despite our many philosophical differences, I do wish for a speedy recovery from that. I get it from time to time and it is absolutely no fun. I will say to look into the diet and exercise option because most meds for that condition come with a host of nasty side effects. It has helped me.2 points

Guess you’re just doing what narcissists do. Don’t ever accept your role in anything that you call out on others. Enjoy your recovery.2 points

Per Rivians website about the R1-T ”For maximum length, we developed the tailgate with a gooseneck hinge system, extending the bed floor to 83.8 inches with the tailgate down. With the tailgate up, the bed length measures 54 inches, making it easier to get around and park every day.”2 points

@ocnblu Down vote for your Useless comment about Rivian. You have NO EVIDENCE that a 4 1/2 ft bed will be useless nor will the truck either. Maybe check your hatred at the door in regards to EVs.1 point

Trucks have long wheelbases [mine is 153" and it's not the longest]. That, in & of itself, is not a problem. Where the problem comes in is in 2 areas- off-roading & heavy bed loads. Both can deflect the body with some negative consequences. Ford tried a 'unibody' pickup '61-63, but there were customer issues when trucks had heavy loads- the doors sometimes would wedge shut/not close if loaded when open. Off-roading puts tremendous stress on a truck, and an independent bed allows for a flex point between the two, alleviating damage. Recall when toyoter was having so many issues on the FJ- people were taking them off-road and the body sheet metal was cracking/ripping. No; don't recall? 'Journalism'. Technically one could build a chassis/frame/skateboard strong enough to resist damage, but how frickin’ heavy are we going to go? A BE F-150 is going to weigh 8000 lbs as it is. I also believe it's cheaper to build the bodies & bed separate when you have a lot of body configurations (unlike Rivian will have). It also allows a huge aftermarket partnership- flatbeds, custom bodies, etc. You have to ask what a full-size truck with an integral bed/body offers the consumer, other that greatly-reduced choice. Because I don't know what that might be.1 point

I wish I had a dollar for every time I'd had the bad dream that I've either missed a test or was late getting to one ... only to wake up and find out that everything is peachy and it's a new day. Dream analysts seem to ascribe meaning to all sorts of bullsh!t ... and their analyses are probably just that.1 point

Guy I've talked to occasionally over the last 12-13 years (his sister is a customer of mine) had a S-10 long bed still, circa 2010. By that time it was extremely rotted out, but standing by it I too was like 'this is a decent-size bed!'. The trucks overall are tiny, relative to now, but the beds were logically-sized to haul.1 point

I joined a genealogy site for a bit, and guess what; you can search all their archives for people named 'Pontiac Sales' and 'Cadillac Pontiac' and the like. Brings up (among other sources) high school yearbook ads of dealerships, sometimes with photos. Goodie for my Pontiac list! The site automatically colorizes the old B&W pics, tho you can click a button to go back to B&W. Many of the colorized ones are awful- the software depends on a clear original and 'inetprets / guesses', but if the photo is too dark in areas it makes a mess of it. Great opportunity to compare the original with a guesswork version. I'll see if I can post a comparison...1 point

Life is definitely not fair. There are so many examples of this but one that really disturbs me is that a person who survived the 9/11 WTC attack died 2 months later when that flight between JFK Airport in NYC and somewhere in Latin America crashed in the borough of Queens. Clearly, horrible for everyone in both events, but you want to cheer on a person who survived 9/11 to embrace life going forward after such trauma. On a better note, it is very cool to open the mailbox and have a $6.99 Great Clips coupon staring at you right about when you are thinking of getting a haircut.1 point
