  2. You should make e-assist to your weights when you workout. I am sure that will make you better.

  5. I get it...I did a lot of mountain biking at 6000-8000ft in the Colorado Springs area in my late 20s and early 30s. Rocky dirt trails with lots of up and down hills. Had a 21 speed Specialized. 20 years later, I don't think I could do that now. Not remotely...my knees ache just living in a split level house with stairs. And I'm carrying around an extra 50 pounds than then. I could see an E-Bike working for me.

  6. Yeah. Got my Stereo set back up, listening to a ton of new music and re discovering a bunch of old stuff. Friend gave me an Onkyo TX-NR 808 AV reciever for my living room system. Moved a sofa for them, seemed like a fair trade. Shame to just use it for two channel use, but it pushes two speakers as well as it pushes 11. Looking at a couple of Magnepan LRS speakers for my family room system, would need to upgrade my Carver Amp to something that would run 4 Ohms of Impedance. Would love to find an old Adcom 555 or the like. Pre AMp is Emotiva, they and outlaw audio build some nice amps. I like buying from smaller comanies. While this seems to be getting away from cars, here is a link to the LRS I am auditioning Saturday morning. Why can't everyday cars have this level of design coolness? https://www.magnepan.com/model_lrs

  9. There is a reason I have largely given up on modern cars and switched to tools, trains, woodworking equipment, 4WD trucks, audio equipment and the like. Some funk for you to listen to when you are cruising in the Jeep.

  11. ^ Lol... regarding the Bolt and this concept, if I ever post on here that I've traded my Jeep on one of these or another generic appliance CUV, you will know it's not really me--that I've been lobotomized and am now a zombie.

  12. Other than the Civic Type R, and to a lesser extent the Civic SI, everything they build is inspired by a carboard box viewed through the viewpoint of a meth addict in a Vinton county Ohio Trailer park. And that is being generous. More generic than the plastic container I dipped hummus out of last night for dinner. Please don't become so desperate in your automotive tastes that you will give extra credit to an effort that deserves a "32" on a scale of 1 to 100. A mid 70's Cutty or Big Plymouth Fury awaits your love. This deserves your dog giving a golden shower in a Walmart parking lot. The Bolt is so ugly it's kinda cute, like a bulldog. Honda design is kinda lame, honestly.

  13. Like those of us with horrible knees that still enjoy riding a bike. Yeah, those 3 bangers are something to behold for sure. ?

  14. They're both full-on 'meh'. Add to that tho- the Honda is a concept, so brace yourself for the dumbing down.

  15. Tho there was a consolette for the Toro, I believe they were all column-shift. Pics of cars with consoles seem to pnly show that configuration. ‘Horseshoe’ shifter was found in the Riviera in this era.

  16. Fixed. The Cherokee Trailhawk and certain equipped levels of Forester and Outback are certainly more off-road capable.

  17. EQS is heavily dated, it's the offspring of a '99 Chrysler 300 and a fat slug.

  18. It goes on sale this summer, so EQS is not vaporware. S-class doesn't look boring, especially in Maybach trim with the 2-tone paint. But they on purpose use a conservative design because it ages better than bold, outrageous designs that look dated really fast. If you look at Cadillac, the Gen 1 CTS has aged the best because it had the most simple design, it still looks better today than the Gen 2 or 3 CTS or something ungainly like the XTS. The downside to the EV revolution is weight, hopefully they can find a way to make these EV's lighter over time.

  19. The largest battery in any current EV and the most aerodynamic production car ever. It will have the longest range, the WLTP cycle may be optimistic, but it it should still do 400 miles per charge easily. Although I think EV range is over rated, people aren't driving 300-400 miles per day 5-7 days a week, which would be 100,000 miles a year. 95% of people would be fine everyday with a 100 mile range.

  20. I am not a fan of the EQS styling, too much tear drop in the name of aerodynamics. The S-class is a much better looking car, and a more expensive looking car, I think Mercedes should stick with their 3-box design look and sacrifice .03 cD in the name of styling. The EQS has an amazing interior though, and the range is the best there is, and their battery can do multiple acceleration runs without over heating, unlike Tesla. I am hoping EQE and the SUVs look better because the battery/motor combo is strong.

  22. You clearly have never had: A.)-Bad knees since you were 19 (thanks football) and B.)-Biked in a place like Prescott, AZ which 5500 ft above sea level and full of hills And this is from a former avid bike rider who loved his 21 speed Trek but those hills were murder on my knees when I lived in Prescott, even in the "easiest" gear. Literally wrong on all fronts. I've riden E-Bikes (in Arizona) and find them quite helpful while providing that good cardio. Do not assume someones condition based off of their need for an E-Bike.

  23. Sounds really weird, but I understand why; my dealer now has my actual, specifc truck advertised on their website, and the ‘start buying process’ button is still there/ active.

  24. I agree that there are many lazy people who will only see e-assist as a way to minimize them having to work out. Yet for those that have medical issues with their joints, tendons, muscles, cardiovascular or heart disease, e-assist will allow them to have more freedom and get out, they still have to pedal, just not as hard. I see it as some exercise is better than no exercise and getting fresh air is better than living in a box never moving much. For me, I never see the need for e-assist for exercise, I want to feel the discomfort of knowing I am pushing my muscles to the maximum. Deeper breathing to stretch and work the lungs, better firmer muscles to know that I have core strength. In regards to the Hyundai Santa Cruz Life Style Pickup, I expect it to sell very well. Far more people are getting into mountain biking, gardening and active life style where a pickup like this that allows them to go do fun things with friends and family makes perfect sense and Hyundai has had a good track record of marketing success. I think this truck will succeed and I can clearly see an e-assist hybrid model as well as a full on EV model. Course with Toyota USA announcement that they will also have BEV trucks by 2023 for the market, makes me think Hybrids will be ignored in favor of going pure electric.

  25. I have to agree. There are plenty of level, paved or packed gravel bike trails where even a person with bad knees or other health issues can do fine, especially considering that most modern bikes have at least 7 to 12 gears, even cruisers. I do understand if someone is using e-bike simply as efficient commuter. That probably is great in a city and prevents a person to come to work all sweaty. But we somehow got derailed from the main article. Will be interesting to see when Santa Cruz goes on sale how many they will actually sell.

  26. e-assist for bicycles is for people who think they want to workout but will only do so a couple random weeks per year. They will NEVER get into any decent kind of shape with a bike like that and a mindset that goes along with them.

  30. All of them. Definitely love the Toro in the middle - trestle shifter and scrolling speedometer. Also, come to think of it, Olds did a nice job with the "split grille" treatment and slightly protruding front fender wraparound treatment on both the full size and that Cutlass. It rode a very short and shallow crest of popularity, most likely because opera windowed stuff sold like hotcakes. For a while, some people thought they were clever to have bought one. Beyond the Cordoba's few initial years, it really started to sputter when they began messing with new, overwrought grilles, different geometries in opera windows, and scabbing other Dodge/Plymouth nameplates onto this chassis and body style. It is downright hilarious that, in the commercial, it is referred to as a "small Chrysler."

  31. yes, in HP/Liter.... if you're spinning them to 7,000 rpm... they are the highest HP/Liter they've ever been.... But all of the manufacturers putting these sub-1.5liter I3 and I4s in things that really need more displacement is what I think @Davidis referencing. My Encore was an overall great vehicle hampered by the 1.4T... and now they've made a bigger version powered by a smaller displacement motor. eAssist couldn't hurt.

  32. Daimler never builds any of their concept cars. But yes; it's especially dumpy. Serious question : what, in your opinion, of the last 20 years, has been 'earth shattering'? - - - - - - I'm impressed on 2 dimensions of the Lyriq: wheelbase is way up there at 122" (1 inch short of my B-59 and an inch longer than an Escalade), and the width at nearly 78". It has no overhangs tho, so the 197" OL is relatively short.

  33. They are just marketing BS. Unfortunately, we have a whole new class of people now who look fit but have next to zero cardio stamina. Covid has caused permanent lung damage in many of those who caught it. Good friends of mine who are(were?) arguably more athletic than I am, now get winded climbing the steps to their second floor apartment and they had Covid over a year ago. One of them was a wrestler. It's not always about what the legs can do but what the heart and lungs can do.

  34. ^^^ I guess you are right. But I still think its counter productive. If you aint fit to bike ride (too long), than maybe e-assist may work out for you, but what better way to get INTO shape than to NOT use e-assist and use your sheer will power and determination and motivation to use your LEG muscles to POWER YOUR way through and BECOME fit. I dont know. Maybe the slogans: 'Just Do it!' and 'No pain, No gain' are just marketing BS...

  35. Not everyone is as fit as everyone else. The E-Bikes allow for an assist for those who need it.

  36. I think the styling looks good in the front half, that rear end and around that D pillar is way too busy and just a mess. $60k is a good price this model, most SUV buyers will expect all wheel drive though, so I wonder what the price jump will be to the dual motor and what that horsepower jump is, because 325 hp is fine, but that isn't going to excite anyone. The interior doesn't seem anything special, I'd have to see that in person, too hard to tell the quality by the photos. They need more than Silver and Black as the only interior and exterior colors. Need more choices than that, it is a luxury product, have to offer customization, such as multiple types of wood, metal, carbon fiber interior trim, etc.
