Chicago Auto Show Reveal: 2016 Honda Pilot: Comments
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chicago Auto Show (CAS)
I will have to give them credit it is a much better looking interior and exterior than their last version. Thought I clearly see the Minivan shape look. Maybe a bit to jelly bean. But nice auto none the less. Far better than their car line. -
It's an expense that the general public doesn't need. Plugging in 2 ipads in the back doesn't put that big a load on the electrical system. But when you add stereo stuff and other things like if you add an alarm or remote start due to the auto not having it, I have found in the past that if not done right by a person with attention to details it can come back and bite you in the arse! that is a question of installer competence, not electrical system capability We'll I did find one place that I wished I had a beefier electrical system. On my 94 GMC Suburban. I had purchased new current headlights for them and they caused the wire harness to burn out. So had to buy a new wire harness for the engine bay that could support the head lights. Other than that, you are correct installation competence is an important part in success with 3rd party products being added. It is amazing the quality of wire used for beefy stereo systems too.

BMW News: Rumorpile: BMW Working On Model S Competitor
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
OK, but the motor is more a take on BMW realizing they need to sell against the VOLT than Tesla. Tesla is pure electric no motor as a generator. I believe in my heart that politics aside, GM could easily build a superior Tesla type auto under the Cadillac logo.- 6 replies

Holden Announces New Chairman, 24 Vehicle Launches By 2020
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Heritage Marques
Interesting, so then to say 36 powertrains, we must divide by 4 to realize that they will have 4 core engine lines that with different tuning and accessories will end up with 9 engine variances of the 4 main lines. 3 petrol and 1 diesel.- 2 replies

Volvo News: The Volvo S60 Cross Country Will Be A Rare Bird
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volvo
This should be interesting to see how it does and what people think of the auto. -
Conversely, many don't realize that these companies tend to very well overall when you consider total global sales. Suzuki, for example, outsells PSA (Peugeot, Citroen), Renault, BMW, Daimler AG (Mercedes) in total global units and have been generally profitable. This just goes to show how hard it is to overcome a bad reputation in a single country thanks to some $h!ty Daewoos. Mazda is doing pretty well for itself after its break-up with Ford. It has a ways to go, but is increasing its global sales and overall profits were up 77% as of the most recent quarter. Considering the constant praise its vehicles are managing, they're likely on track for continued success. Mitsubishi, on the other hand, is a fairly mixed bag. Globally, it produces about the same quantity as Mazda, but its latest profits were down 10% (but not in the negative). Does that include Suzuki motorcycles, marine products, etc or just truly auto's? Amazing to hear that Suzuki outsells those other brands.
