  1. Cool, I get it, Land Rover loves the Jeep Trailhawk edition and wants a version of that on their own, so red accent marks, a few tweaks here and there plus a winch and they have the Land Rover Trailhawk edition aka SVX. America builds it and they will come. The English wants what America has.
  2. The only F1 that I find interesting is the EV F1 racing where every team has 2 identical auto's and they truly have to race on driver skill. Otherwise the F1 ICE racing is so boring. Nascar is more entertaining, Hell just going to the local dirt racing track is a better night out than watching F1 on TV.
  3. You can say this about any auto out there. Perfect example is I am still suprised by the amount of rusty parts on the top of the line Mustang's. I love the Mustang as much as the Camaro and yet the Mustang for the money on their top of the line versions has rusty parts that should never be found and yet Ford does this over and over. Same with MB and BMW, I am always surprised to find short cut corners from the interior to the exterior and I can do the same with GM. Way to many places you can nitpick about an auto. In this case, SMK clearly has not been in a current corvette for say the last 30 years of his life if ever.
  4. Your WACK and Have Clearly NO IDEA of the current Corvettes. Yes in the 80's the Interiors were average to less than and no longer. They are right there with the best. Pull yourself out of the MB Coolaid and Go Test Drive the current crop of Auto's, take a go pro and record your test drive and review of the auto so we can really see these poor interiors your talking of.
  5. Agreed, the amount of lumber shipping to the south has really picked up here recently in the pacific northwest. I have to question the local governments allowing people to bring in new trailers and cheap building of homes of what was there. Time to rethink how they build and how strong the buildings are. Local gov and Feds should require homes in flood zones to be on stilts and be made of cement or steel strong enough to withstand storms like this plus have built in storm doors that roll down over windows and secure the place against the storm, looters, etc. Time to think long term as we are putting so much garbage in the ground due to a lack of recycling and building for long term life of the building.
  6. I am sure they will sell them all. Nice interior dash, lots to like about this car. I will never own one as I am sure I will not fit in it just like I love the corvette but do not fit. Wish they had upped the HP and Torque and kept the AWD. Would have been an awesome force to deal with.
  7. I agree that there are many questions to ask and until they release the full report we just do not know. I for one am interested in seeing the testing used and how they match it all up. I can say on the auto's I have driven with a turbo motor, I have never gotten the MPG that was stated. I love my NA motors and see no need for a turbo.
  8. Interesting, but I remember all the fan fare made of Mazda when they built the world's smallest V6 at 1.8 L and now we have a car with a 1.6L V6. So did MB just use Mazda's small motor and shrink it down? Course not, MB builds everything themselves. Wonder how efficient this Turbo V6 really is if it did not have all the electric motors and other electronic devices? Gotta Love Mid-Engines Corvettes and the future EV versions! AND the Corvette will do it at a fraction of the cost. It always has and yet MB has not been able to deliver a car that competes with the Corvette yet.
  9. Very Cool for a Street Legal race car that has a XBox type steering wheel, game console interface. Wonder how fast one of these will be totaled by the ubber rich 1/10th of 1% crowd?
  10. @Drew Dowdell This I find very interesting and tends to prove your own statements about Turbo small engines versus naturally aspirated bigger engines.
  11. Hope many of the people have replacement insurance, the few extra dollars a month make this so worth making sure you have an auto with minimal out of pocket cost.
  12. Agree, no reason to not have both! in regards to Detroit. Never seen a city so in need of an Enima!
  13. Over all I really like what I see and HOpe VW keeps true to this concept as it would sell and sell well I suspect. Sadly VW has a bad habit of producing awesome concepts and then going ultra conservative to the point of falling asleep and not delivering what people got excited about. Wait and See,
  14. I am thinking people will see reduced rebates towards the end of this year. If Tesla Delivers on how many model 3 they build, it will hit based on S & X sales staying the same late Nov or early Dec and that will reduce down how much people will get to write off.
  15. Talk about an interesting comparison. Leaf 2.0 is far better looking than Leaf 1.0 but I still like the Bolt look far better.
  16. My friend check out this story on a review between the BOLT and the GTI. Crazy crosshop but so real and the BOLT does well against the GTI. https://electrek.co/2017/09/05/chevy-bolt-ev-autocross-event/ Video of the autocross in the BOLT.
  17. 2013 to Today, Engines under 3 Liters and Turbocharged have gone backwards on MPG and Emissions in Real World Driving Technology today is proving to be more effective in controlled testing than in real world driving. A U.K. based company that does emission testing has been in the US running a long term testing of over 500 auto's testing real world versus testing for MPG, greenhouse gas creation and overall improvements and the end result is that with all the new technologies from Turbocharging, start-stop, lightweight materials and eco-drive settings that the top 4 things have shown up to Quote the story: Vehicles with engines smaller than 2 liters have essentially posted no change in fuel economy. Meanwhile, the fuel economy of engines between 2 and 3 liters, the most common, dropped by 8 percent, and fuel economy rose by 8 percent in engines of 3 liters or larger. The drop in economy for the most common engine class is problematic for overall CO² emissions in an era of cheap gasoline, when Americans are commuting longer distances but small-car sales are lagging. While the EPA's five-cycle test procedure tracks pretty closely with EA's real-world tests, automakers may be relying too heavily on "off cycle" credits given by the EPA for technologies like engine stop-start systems and "eco" driving modes that cut fuel consumption. Those systems aren't accounted for in the driving tests. That said, it's only logical that a car sitting at idle gets zero miles per gallon, while one that's turned off by a stop-start system is by definition economical. Turbocharged engines show large gaps between lab and real-world use, delivering big fuel savings when under low stress but becoming far less efficient once the turbos are engaged. In other words, these systems are driven with a light during testing, but real-world drivers engage the turbocharger far more often. Regular hybrids, which have gotten lost in the hype over plug-in hybrids and pure EVs, are among the best technologies in delivering fuel economy and cutting greenhouse gases. What I found interesting is a very true point stated at the end, how economically we drive is negated as the technology cannot make up for a lead foot. So having a NON Turbo V6 or V8 is better than a smaller Turbo engine it would seem! autoblog story
  18. Let's add in their auto's destroyed by Irma and Jose. Should help to update the average age of Auto's in the US.
  19. Expect us all who are in our 40's to 50's and younger to see a major change in the auto industry in our lifetime. Course to quote the ZEV mandate which is helping to push forward the EV tech: It’s a direct result of the country’s ZEV mandate, which requires automakers to have zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) represent 8% of new car sales as soon as 2018 and quickly ramp up to 12% by 2020.
  20. BOLT and VOLT power trains in both cars and CUV's just makes sense and I do agree, after Gen 2 Volt came out, they should have then also introduced the powertrain in the Trax. Based on China, France and UK news, I say we are going to see this happen in our lifetime.
  21. One Item I forgot to mention and maybe this is where @balthazar is thinking is the california rebate too. Fed is $7,500 rebate on taxes. California is $2,500 cash for purchase of a BOLT. Full list of all auto's and Bikes that qualify for cash rebates. https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/eng/eligible-vehicles This would tend to make the Bolt a $20,000 auto then or if a Premier edition about $30,000.
  22. Agreed, Hope they put the BOLT powertrain into the Cruze and with a bigger battery into a mid size auto as well.
  23. ON TOPIC: My hope this season is we see at least 2-3 VOLT Powertrain auto's in CUV form. I also am hoping we see the BOLT Powertrain used in a few auto's as well. All told, I would love to see 6 to 7 Hybrid / EV's shown at the auto show circuit this year.
