What duplication? While there is definitely some overlap one is a GT car and one is a sports car. At least that is how I view them.

Maybe if Jeep offered a Wrangler for 15-18k(where the Roxor is priced at) they'd have me on their side but the cheapest Wrangler is 28k. I think I remembered reading yesterday that the Roxor has a 62hp/140tq engine matted to a 5spd manual only. Seems like it would be the perfect ranch vehicle.

They've never been produced at the same time, have they? If they did it had to have been leftovers of the SL selling while the AMG GT was being produced.

So what? The models that compete with the "luxury only" Cadillac are still superior vehicles in most ways. Then their low appliance-like cars are still offered with a gnarly AMG variant. They don't have duplications anywhere. Where do they have two of the same cars offered? The closest things would be the GLE and the GLE Coupe(and GLC). The only two vehicles that come off in any possible way as appliances are the CLA and GLA. Everything else is very premium for their respective classes.

As consumers, we should be welcoming a brand that is giving us this many options. Yes, I personally, could care less about any convertibles but if you are in the market for a convertible MB has like 6 different vehicles available in convertibles and all three GM brands has two and one is pretty crappy in the Buick Cascada. They're not wasting yours or my money so I see zero issue with them having this many options. Cadillac has never had this many options across their brand.

That is the absolute best part about Mercedes, they make a gnarly version of everything they make. I think every manufacturer wishes they had the diverse lineup Mercedes has while still making money. I hate their coupe SUVs but everything else is about what you'd want and expect from a premier luxury automaker.

Exactly... RS used to mean sporty trim and now it's just an appearance package.

I bet if you asked those same people if they were okay with a 5-10% more expensive car they would also say they don't want that.. higher fuel economy numbers cost money.

That's a pretty good looking car. I really like the rear end of it compared to last gen.

The bigger brakes, closer ratio transmission, and wider wheels/tires would be of the main selling points to the GS for me. I wouldn't care quite as much about the Z's body work. Personally, I see that on both sides of the coin. 1: A more spartan interior makes it more of a driver-oriented experience and less focus on the soft-touch materials and overall quietness and refined interior. Just drive to drive. 2: why wouldn't I want a nicer interior?

Oh I definitely agree that we will almost never extract 100% performance from any of the above three cars but there are things that I would prefer over the base model in the GS like: "(spring rates, closer ratio manual transmission gearing and shorter axle ratio on the automatic), and Z06 bits (front and rear fascias, hood, anti-roll bars, brake rotors and calipers, wider tires and the bodywork to cover them). The dry-sump oiling system from the Z06 and ZR1 is also fitted to manual Grand Sports, which means these special motors will now be hand assembled alongside their big-brother stablemates, the LS7 and LS9 engines, in Wixom Michigan, each by a single technician who will sign his or her work. The only major parts they had to tool up were the front fenders, which feature double-gill cove styling and are made of RIM plastic like the base car's, the rear quarter panels, unique new wheels, and the actual springs and dampers, which are tailored to the GS's unique weight and characteristics (they ride almost exactly like the old Z51's)." A Grand Sport would be a great all around sports car and it's "only" 436hp/428tq.

Yeah but is it that much to cut up an ATS and/or CTS for a premium selling price? These are luxury vehicles and a convertible option is definitely a luxury that all of their competitors offer. I don't expect them to have a bunch of convertibles offered in all of their coupe offerings but it's still odd that they don't have even one. I don't always think it is about the sale of the vehicle itself as much as it is getting somebody to the dealers' lots. If somebody drives by a lot and sees an ATS convertible and goes and checks it out but ends up in a coupe or sedan.. yeah they didn't sell a convertible but they got somebody to stop and look at their products.

There are definitely 2010-2013 Grand Sports available under 50k miles and 08-09 Z06's available with under 50k miles as well. '08 Z06 '13 Grand Sport These are just quick finds but there are both that can be found with either more miles and 30k or less miles and over 35k but there are plenty under 35k available. Both seem like hella performance for the dollar.
