Industry News: Pedestrian Deaths in Car Crashes Are Rising
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
In downtown STL it's actually illegal to ride a bike on the sidewalk. They have to ride on the streets and obey all traffic laws. It is not the same in my small town of 10,000 people ? -

Yes. I think we all know that part of it. If those were the only people getting killed this would be an easy discussion because it would be 100% of the cars' faults. -
Industry News: Pedestrian Deaths in Car Crashes Are Rising
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Isn't it dependent on the situation? A pedestrian can't sprint across any road at any time and expect to be able to go after the driver who hits them. If there is a crosswalk light and you walk through while it is red that is a ticket for the pedestrian and I would assume if they got hit they couldn't go after the driver(unless it was something weird where it was clearly intentional and no effort to stop or avoid). -
If you're trying to excite me, you're doing it. Cadillac hatchback = ?

Industry News: Pedestrian Deaths in Car Crashes Are Rising
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
I think that is so dependent on the scenario you can't say it's all drivers' fault or all pedestrians' faults. For instance, that autonomous Uber driver(or whatever company) that hit a lady.. The lady apparently came out of nowhere where there wasn't time to react even if an aware human was behind the wheel could have done anything. Then in Drew's case, the driver wasn't paying attention at all. I don't know what the split is but I feel like it's 95% because of phones for both parties. -
Yeah isn't there supposed to be like a CT5 that will cover the CTS and ATS? Aren't they kind of going back to the tweener size like the original CTS?

That's intriguing. That's the only thing I'm not a fan of on that truck. The Colorado looks too soft for me while the Canyon looks great with its more squared off front end. Where'd you read this at?

Lincoln News: Lincoln: We're Still Committed to Cars
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
Yeah stop and go traffic, 50 mile commute and $4.20/gal add up pretty quick.. Yeah I don't mind people swearing them off. Everybody does it with their own least favorite brands anyway. Explain what this means. Give me a definition of a Honda hybrid not performing the way it is supposed to, please.- 43 replies

Lincoln News: Lincoln: We're Still Committed to Cars

The Volt is ~4 inches shorter than a Cruze. My parents don't want a compact car let along one smaller than a compact car. Like I said, "near sub compact car". 1 vote only goes so far. You do the rest with your voting dollars which means more to politicians than anything else anyway. And there's nothing wrong with having an opinion on a given situation. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean he should "get over the history". He doesn't like how it was all handled so they won't get his money again. Pretty simple. He's not on any auto forums preaching to people what they should or shouldn't do.- 43 replies

My dad also refuses to by any GM vehicle at this point. He's stuck in the bailout situation and will not contribute to them ever again. What're you driving that costs you $10 for 50 miles?- 43 replies

They don't want a near sub compact car at all. What's wrong with the Clarity to refer to it as a "nightmare"?- 43 replies

I'm intrigued with how it drives. My dad is very interested in it(function over form) as both him and my mom's work commutes are very short so the whole plug-in would be great for them.- 43 replies

I like that idea as well but what do they do with things that already have the same engine, which is pretty much everything else?

What do you do with T.O.s'? "Turn-overs" at dealerships; not Toronto
ccap41 replied to trinacriabob's topic in The Lounge
I test drove a Hyundai Elantra GT a couple months ago as Hyundai was giving $40 amazon gift cards away with any test drive and the guy I dealt with was really cool and we just BS'd the whole time but I get a call 2-3 times a week since then from their manager or whoever asking me about it.. It's always while I'm working so I never answer but good lord.. They have to have called me no less than 10 times at this point. Edit: Probably more like a month and a half ago.. -

Jeep Grand Commander is a Three-Row SUV for China : Comments
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Beijing Motor Show
Why would they want that when they're trying to keep Jeep a more premium brand? The vehicle in this article isn't going to be made for this market so I'm kind of confused on all of the hoopla over it in general. The Grand Wagoneer is what we will get and that'll be a big 7 seater.- 23 replies

FWD platforms but not necessarily "car" platforms. The Grand Cherokee and Wrangler are on RWD platforms... if that's what they do now, why change? ?- 23 replies

Yeah it's a hard pass on full EVs for awhile yet. And this is an infrastructure in CALIFORNIA which probably has the most EVs on their roads! -
Why EVs Have a Long Road Ahead

Exactly! There just seem to be way more sacrifices than there should be in a $40,000 vehicle.
