  1. I'm with Frisky, I think this looks awesome! The Tacoma looks much more "truck-like" to me. If I had the money for one of these I'd love to drive one every day.
  2. I think all of them in their premium trims are basically dipped in chrome. Bumper, grille, mirrors, steps, handles, bigger larger badges, wheels...
  3. Okay, that makes sense. I wasn't sure if it was a standard feature on the 2SS or a stand alone option. But if we're talking about competing with the Shelby it would probably need the brake package as well bringing it up to 42k(while the Shelby with its track pack is like 55k). Still at 42k it is a "bargain" performer. I suppose the upgraded 6 piston brakes would help longevity at the track, but keep in mind during MT's testing the 4 piston standard brembos on the SS stopped shorter than the 6 piston upgraded brakes on the GT performance pkg during a comparo, and only 2 feet shy of the GT350 track pack they tested at another time. But that's all a moot point (not sure if you were implying this with the end of your comment) because a base GT350 lacks magnetic ride, some handling equipment (under hood bracing, springs), and all the track cooling systems. I think a lot of the benefit of the upgraded brakes would be the repeat-ability. Yes, they will stop harder and better but packages like that tend to be "track packages" and I would assume they are all steel braided brake lines, better cooling, better heat dissipating materials. Yeah that was what I was getting at in my last point. While adding the brakes and MRC to the SS may bring it to 42k and the base GT350 is 49k, or something like that, you need the track package the brings it to 55k anyway. so it isn't just a 7k difference.. it's basically the difference between a base SS and base GT350.. 37-49 again or 42-55. Close enough. I put "bargain" performer because in my eyes 42k is a lot of money on something I couldn't drive every day but at the same time for 42k and all OEM it does some kick ass things.
  4. I REALLY wanted the XD to be a badass truck and put it to the half ton D3s but the last review I read it just didn't seem any more capable than any other f150/1500 with the top engine and tow package. I don't know why I wanted to like it because I pretty much hate everything else Nissan makes but I wanted to like this truck but it just doesn't seem up to the challenge called the Detroit3. I think I just wanted to see what the D3 would do to answer the XD but the XD never really upped anything. 12,300lbs towing, F150 can do that, Silverado can do that, Ram can tow 10,650lbs so I guess it tops the Ram a little. I also am assuming that the D3's half tons that are doing this are all doing to be single cab, long bed, 2WD and I do'nt know what the 12,300lbs for the XD are in. I didn't think it even came in a single cab.
  5. Full Size Trucks are just not fit to be someone's only car with so many variables... What if I, on a lark, decide to take my Full Size Truck to a craft beer sampling, Saturday night in the city. I'd never find parking and miss half the event, while the guy in the Tesla Model S finds free electric parking and gets to the event in time! Compact Cars are just not fit to be someone's only car with so many variables... What if I, on a lark, help my friend move from one condo to another. I'd never fit his Laz-E Boy into the car, while the guy in the Tesla Model X fits tonnes of stuff just fine! Coupes are just not fit to be someone's only car with so many variables... What if I, on a lark, decide to take my Coupe to my child's field trip function. I'd never fit more than one kid into the car, while the people who don't make dumbass, rhetorical statements haul several kids in their vans/SUV's/trucks/sedans. While I usually don't agree with ocnblu and his anti-EV thing it makes more sense than your three scenarios. A Tesla model X I still do not see fitting a Laz-E-Boy and if it did you should be comparing similar size vehicles to an EV not a compact to an SUV. We're talking fuel sources and not the capability of the vehicle itself. A Compact, full size truck, and a coupe can all be filled up withing a few miles of home with a range of 300+ miles. Odd are, if you're taking children on a field trip the are young enough that you cannot legally have your child in the front seat to begin with(stupid laws, but they exist) I think the drag strip was an extreme example and not really practical but the point(I think) is the charge time and accessibly at this stage of the game.
  6. Hmmmm a few things that I don't like when reading that.. You're losing A LOT of range with that driving style. Let's say we have a 200mile range battery. only charge to 80% = 160miles Don't allow under 25% = 110miles I don't like how those numbers are adding up. You only have 55% of the battery to actually use in that scenario.
  7. That's also assuming you left home with a full charge and didn't drive it at all up to that point(for a full charge). As for as I know(which isn't very well) there aren't any charging stations between me and my closest drag strip( ~30 miles). There has to be one somewhere in that stretch because there are some heavily populated areas on the way. Edit: Nope. Just looked at a map and there are only a few on the way to STL but a lot on the MO side of the river. This is also some o my ignorance showing but do all manufacturers use the same plug in?
  8. This one is for Suav. I know you're an active cyclist. https://www.yahoo.com/autos/pro-cyclist-hid-motor-her-193632266.html Crazy somebody has so little self respect to use during competition.
  9. I am actually curious about the cold weather ability of full EV cars. Batteries already don't last as long in the cold so what will that trim the range down to? That's one of my biggest concerns with full EV cars is the range when it's 20 degrees outside(like today). Then I would be limited(even more) and less places to "fill up" at. At least until there more charging stations. That is a valid point and my own reading has led me to see that the newest 48V 400Ah Lithium batteries seem to handle the below freezing much better. In this I wonder what the actual battery pack is in the BOLT. The specifics will be telling on how far GM and LG pushed their use of the latest battery versions for maximum efficiency. That's good to know they are improving on that because that was a major factor to my dad when they were looking at cars(and will be the next go around as well). He doesn't want to get a hybrid or EV that is greatly reduced in the winter months with our "fill-up station" availability here. Does 225mile range become 200? 175? 150? 125? Because in the winter it's just harder on everything trying to warm up everything. Now I doubt it would drop to 125 miles but my point is the unknown factor of it.
  10. Pride and cost were no object, I'd be in a BR-Z or Miata or 99-04 gen Mustang(Terminator preferred - or Cobra R). This is STRICTLY because I'm more comfortable in smaller vehicles, especially if I'm "gettin' after it". The sight lines completely kill the Camaro to me when it comes to sitting in it. That is still the one gripe I have about the Camaro. Aesthetically, everybody has different opinions on the car, that's whatever. But id I can't see out of the dang thing it doesn't matter how good or bad it looks I can't comfortably drive it. Hahaha and I don't even care. It's one badass car. Do you have an extra place to put a 3rd car?
  11. Yeah, they're pretty good size. My dad had an Envoy. Definitely larger than my Escape(Equinox competitor) by a decent margin.
  12. Completely agree, you nailed it! I also think if they had broken the hood up some how with a heat extractor(which I'm surprised they didn't to at least eliminate the under hood lift) I think it would have looked better as well. There's just something about the all black hood that doesn't mesh with the rest of the car to me. Gloss black everything else...matte black hood.

  14. Count me in on that thought as well. Money be damned on this level. CCAP and maybe even you have said this before... The 5.2 liter flat plane crank V8 is worth more than the price of admission for this car. Oh...Hellcat Challenger too...I would take over the Camaro... And he Hellcat is a beast on wheels. Not a light ballerina like the Camaro... Oh...and DAT straight line speed, the Hellcat just kills it! Personally, I completely agree on the 5.2 front. It's a special engine and most likely it'll go down as a "classic" because I doubt it will be used long term. To me, there's nothing special about a regular Corvette. Great car? Absolutely. Special? Not unless it is a Z06. Hellcat is one NASTY freakin' car.. but that's been rehashed a few times. Everybody already knows that. lol

  16. lol if you can make them paint the hood body color or something like that mustang, or any mach 1 of the past, or ANY kind of striping that GM has done in the past. Again, that picture has body color all around the black and a pinstripe around it as well.. Still not the same. I see what you are saying CCAP...but the Hellcat does the same thing here...plus it has all kinds boy racer vents...sure functional, but very ricer... So...like I said, I UNDERSTAND what it is you are saying... The BIG question here is...could one actually say that the ORIGINAL ricer cars be the muscle cars? Big Wings... All show and no go decals... Wings again... Scoops? Muscle cars got plenty of those... All show and no go scoops in this muscle car...2 of them... At first I was super surprised I never noticed the black hood on the Hellcats then the more I looked into it I don't think that's factory. I think the one you showed me was painted aftermarket. I tried to build a Hellcat and didn't see any black hood option. I guess it isn't "ricer" because they said the purpose of it(reduce glare). To me, something that is to simulate performance without any actual gains is rice. Like the ricer crowd originally painted their hoods to fake a carbon fiber hood.

  18. That's not the same.. That's painted in the middle almost as a thick stripe There's red hood in front, and on both sides of that Mach 1(and all '69 Mach 1's and even less black on later models) and it's pin striped around it..not just dipped in black.. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE black accented things and especially in a matte black just not an entire hood. It looks like the neighbors honda with a fart can and R stickers all over it.
  19. Enzo, that's actually a good comparison for its general size and shape. Long, wide, super low. Yeah I didn't expect a great finish either. Growing pains... Brand new car gets thrown into a 24hr race as its first race..that's a lot for a new car to handle.
  20. Thank god. The Trax looked so old when it first arrived here. This update makes it look so much better. Looks like it should actually be class competitive now.
  21. I'm all about matte black and accenting things in black as opposed to chrome or silver but that hood..? To "reduce glare". I'm not a fan of the hood but other than that, it's going to be a fantastic car.
  22. Well there's information on the 1LE. http://www.motortrend.com/news/2017-chevrolet-camaro-1le-first-look-review/
  23. 37k does not get you the super duper magnet shocks in an SS. I believe that starts at 42k, with the 2SS? Either way, it is not 37k for a car that "comes close" to a GT350 and even then it is lacking about 75hp. LOL at your salesman assumption as if that means anything. Yeah, they had no issues with the additional NVH of the GT350. They liked it because it made the car what it is, a driver's car. "And it is glorious. True, it doesn’t really come alive and pull in earnest until 4000 rpm. But even then, it’s barely halfway through the tachometer. Its 526 horsepower arrives at 7500 rpm, and by the time you get there, you’re also at peak titillation—your nerve endings buzzing in concert with the engine’s zing. It’s not a pretty-sounding thing. Instead, its blare is of a machine that seems to care only about the beauty of power. Its creators think burbling exhaust notes are, at best, cute. Owing to its crankshaft design and lack of balance shafts, this is not the smoothest V-8. It is, in fact, one of the least smooth. Shoot through to the far side of the tach and the engine sends a mighty vibration through the pedals and the dash and your seat bottom. Perhaps this is why Quiroga described the GT350 as a “Sybian.” We wouldn’t know. But we do know that, in this case, the vibration is exhilarating, even if the instrument-panel pieces might not like it in the long run." Nice to see the "what if/wait till" excuse on the "it's a generation behind". Ya know the only people that use that excuse..? Fanboys.
