Lincoln News: 2017 Lincoln Continental To Begin At $45,485
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
They are targeted at two different clientele though. One who wants a sporty car and one who wants a plush car. Do we know the interior measurements yet? I wouldn't doubt at all if the Lincoln being FWD based has a more spacious interior. Just two different cars targeted at two different buyers. -
"IIHS says it comes down to four protective steel bars that Ford installed on the SuperCrew that are left off the SuperCab. The tubular bars, welded to the frame and placed in the front wheel wells, also are missing from regular cab F-150s." So the correction was to do the same thing they did to the SuperCrew. They must have thought the smaller configurations would weigh enough less that they wouldn't be necessary. That's why they have these tests. Good thing they corrected it and brought the safety of not just the SCrew but of the smaller cabs up to a high standard. exactly. people keep crowing about how strong the aluminum Ford is, when really steel came to the rescue. what exactly IS military grade, anyhow? "By now, you have undoubtedly heard that the 2015 Ford F-150 is constructed with a high-strength steel frame and military grade aluminum alloy body, but what is military grade aluminum exactly? Well, aluminum on its own is not the strongest of metals so it has to be combined with other metals to produce an alloy. The new F-150 is primarily built from 6,000 series aluminum alloy, the strength of which is increased by heat-treating after it is formed. By using different alloy mixtures and heat treating them, the Ford engineers have made actually the aluminum even stronger than the steel that it is replacing" http://www.muziford.com/2015-F-150/why-the-aluminum-f150-is-better-than-its-steel-counterpart.htm

$37,570. Base car w/ just DSG. The thing is awesome. All the people who say it's not worth the stretch over the GTI, I don't get it. I think it is. I didn't expect there to be as big of a difference as there was. It's night and day. It's like a GTI turned up to 11.5. Better in every way. As it stands, it is hands down the #1 contender to replace my GTI. Now you need to find a way to get behind the wheel of an RS. Your reviews are solid and seen very unbiased so I know it would be a fair write up. Do that, find an RS to get behind. Lol

Dang, I'd love to just be able to get behind the wheel of one of them! Luuuuucky! What was the sticker on it?
-
If this is going to be my second vehicle and therefore more of a toy... Mustang GT, not premium, with the PP and I think that might have been all that I added. Oh, I think I added the cloth Recaros as well. If this were to replace my daily.. it would easily be between one of these two: Golf R and Focus RS. It would really just depend on the test drive because I love them both. The looks leans towards the Focus, interior Golf, performance, both are plenty quick even if they are 2-3 tenths of a second apart in whatever the race is. I couldn't get the blue that I wanted as it was a premium price. I wanted those wheels regardless so I went back to white. But honestly, any of the 4 colors available look great.
-
^ That was exactly why I asked because a Golf R or Focus RS would suit me much better as a real daily driver.

Guard green is the BEST! Nice freakin choice! Would a hot hatch fit this..?

Glorious victory: How the Camaro takes it to Bavaria's finest

Not exactly helping your argument ccap. The Camaro and Mustang are direct competitors and the Mustang was referenced in that article. Just saying. Doesn't make his comment any less out of left field, for the sake of a Camaro plug(over mustang). Ya know, like he dooooooeeeessssss! Oops, my bad. Mucho mejor. Jeez these littler emoji-like things are the best! -
I think this would be a terrible, terrible idea. Nothing says you're not a real luxury brand like having to offer a sub-line of vehicles to get a really nice interior. Not only that, but I think it'd fail anyway. Simply put, Cadillac needs to stop playing the price card and build a car that's on the same level as the cars they are gunning for. Making a car that's almost as nice, but a little cheaper isn't cutting it. I don't think they should downgrade what they have now to make a premium interior above it but keep what they have and then make a super luxurious one on top. I do see what you mean, having to pay extra for a super nice interior on a near 100k car already..
-
This is pretty tough because I think I'd rather not a sports car for nearly 40k(I'd rather a brand new daily) but if i has to be sporty...gimme a bit...

About the interior of the CT6 compared to the S class.. Do you guys think Cadillac should go the route similar to Lincoln ONLY in the sense of offering a "black label" like interior? And with it being Cadillac I assume it would be over the top(compared to the Lincoln). I thought about that the other day when it came up. Do you think they should keep the pricing and very good interiors and have a second high end line? Do you think it would sell? or work? Completely agree with the dealership thing. I've said that way back a MT that they need to separate themselves more and it all starts with their dealerships not being physically connected to a Chevy dealership.

No but if they drop in their 650/650 beast it'll be scared in the performance world at least. The S65 crowd will have the slower of the luxo barges. HA. Better package/luxury/interior/whatever could still be up for discussion but it would be awesome to see the American hog out gun the biggest baddest Benz. ..with a little engine that's even in Camaros!

I love the car, love the wheels.. but think they could both be matched better with different wheels and car.. just my opinion though. I actually came across one of those Anniversary(?) T/As the other day on AutoTrader. It was a coupe not a vert and still like 22-23k I believe. I love how those and the 03-04 Cobras just don't depreciate anymore. They hit like mid-low 20's and have been hanging around there for awhile. -

I know they're the "torque thrust" style but they look like an OEM 99-04 GT wheel. I just think the factory wheels look better than the torque thrust on that era T/A.. This is what I pictured when I saw those wheels. -

I love me some T/As but why'd they put Mustang wheels on that one?!? Although I do appreciate the "deep dish" rear wheels. I always wanted a set similar to put on my Mustangs. -
http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/news/a28725/cadillac-ct8-cancelled/ Thing is that the blurb was never confirmed by JDN .. the show, nor off the show.. or anyone at GM. He did say that by 2020 we will see 11 new vehicles. Furthermore... I am of firm belief that the CT6 can get the upgrades it needs to handle even the S65 if Cadillac wanted. Completely pointless to build a CT8. Ahhhh thank you, nice catch! Yeah if there are supposed to be 11 new vehicles by 2020 I wouldn't completely rule out a CT8. Heck, GM already as a motor to compete with an S65. 650hp/650tq.

No you're not wrong. " The steel firewall, by the way, is used because steel has optimal noise, vibration, and harshness–quelling characteristics. " http://blog.caranddriver.com/10-things-you-didnt-know-about-the-2015-ford-f-150/ Which seems odd because I thought that was one of the benefits to aluminum was the thicker guage being used also did a better job of insulating.. I must be wrong there then lol

Thanks for posting a picture! I like the small changes. I thought it was a pretty good looking design before so no need to do anything too drastic. I think it looks slightly better than what's for sale right now.

"As for interior the Germans really have never set the world on fires unless you like all dark leather. They are to blame for many of the dull interiors the other MFG have copied." That was said by Hyper and it went from there. It was an evolving process about interiors unlike nobody mentioning Ford vs Chevy until very abruptly, out of nowhere. Very different. -
"On the heels of the rumors we reported yesterday, Tesla has officially announced the refreshed Model S sedan, which now features a revised exterior design that includes a new front fascia that’s similar to the one on the Model X crossover. New headlights have also been added to the Model S to give it a family resemblance to the rest of the Teslalineup. In addition to cosmetic changes, the Tesla Model S also gains the HEPA filtration system from the Model X. according to the automaker, this filter is 100 times more effective than other premium automotive filters, removing all allergens, bacteria, contaminants, and at least 99.97 percent of exhaust pollution. The standard charger on the Model S has also been upgraded from 40 amps to 48 amps for faster charging when connected to higher-amperage charging stations. Two additional interior trim choices, Figure Ash Wood Décor and Dark Ash Wood Décor, have also been added. Despite rumors of a new 100-kWh battery being part of the refresh for the Model S, Tesla has not revealed whether the sedan will receive a larger battery than the current 90-kWh unit offered. Production of the refreshed Model S starts today at Tesla’s factory in Fremont, Calif. The automaker will continue to add new features and functionality to the Models through over-the-air software updates for free." Pics at the link. I couldn't post them w/o uploading to photobucket..and I can't do that w/o my phone from work...and I forgot my phone today.. http://www.motortrend.com/news/confirmed-refreshed-tesla-model-s-gets-revised-design-new-features/

lol I was being a smartass because how similar they ARE. The front clips look identical. The biggest difference is the hood on the two. The S class remains long and low and the CLA jumps up at a 90 degree angle to stuff the FWD engine in there.
