Someone got seriously ripped off if they paid $32K for a Soul! That salesman was doing the cocaine celebration dance for real after that customer left. My wife's is the exact same as the one I took almost two years ago cross country. The book on the this one is right at $16K (only 23K miles on a 2015 helped) so we got a good deal that doesn't start anywhere near underwater financially. She is happy which makes me happy. I was plotting a serious act of destruction against her old HHR so I am glad that don't have to get rid of any evidence lol.

My feelings exactly. We will just skip over the part where my wife and I traded in her nightmare HHR for a much better Kia Soul (what she wanted). That doesn't mean that I hate GM or Chevy. It just means that they have produced some garbage over the years, just like everyone else, and I will point it out when I feel it is necessary. Oh, and so as to get back on track here, swap "GS" for a genuine "GNX", and we have a winner!

One brand fans don’t get that some of us can point out the flaws in new cars (and old cars for that matter) and not be a fan of an opposing brand or never intending on buying new in the first place. Just because I choose not to buy new does not mean that my opinion is not valid no matter what some overcompensating person says (And no, I am not referring to anyone specific here). Hell, if you ask me, it makes me financially smarter to not pay a mortgage payment on a $70-100K car or truck. Let natural depreciation take care of the bulk of money waste there and then take advantage. It’s how my wife just got a 2015 Soul with only 20k miles for less than $13K. And I actially am looking at getting an 2013-14 AWD model (because I never buy new) before years end so how about you give the passive aggressive nonsense (and borderline condescension) a rest.

The problem is not with the 3.6L itself but the fact that GM sees it as the only V6 option for every car or CUV they make when they have so many options available to them. The 3.6 should not be a top of the line option in the XT6 for example. That should be a middle option with a turbo AWD V6 as the top option. Maybe they will change that after a year or two of its life cycle but it should have been done from the start. On this, we agree. The GS deserves better here.

So much to say yet still missed the point made but whatever. Just the same old, same old from feverant fans who make assumptions about folks who dare to criticize their favorite brand and then sidestep their errors completely to go off on yet another tangent. Whatever floats your boat. Regarding the Regal, give me an AWD Tour X with a mythical 3.6L Turbo, and I’d be a happy man although I’d be happier had GM not killed off the CTS wagon. You are correct. I’ve never had a brand allegiance but I had been really liking Cadillac until lately. That little exchange is a great a example of why I took a little break from the forums. I just can’t take certain things that seriously anymore.

I get what you are saying but you missed the point of the post. May want to read that again. The price is irrelevant and the fact that GM has three RWD platforms illustrates my point. They have them yet they don’t fully use them. Instead, they have retreated from those platforms a bit and pushed more FWD CUVs through Cadillac of all brands, instead using those RWD platforms to put Cadillac above the likes of Acura, Volvo, and Lincoln. The most irrelevant part of your post though is the failure to realize that Kia is not nearly as bad as you think and I surely would not have said that about them ten years ago. They are reaching out with RWD cars in a CUV world while GM misses the boat and pushes FWD CUVs four to five years after they should have. I’d happily take an AWD Tour X if it had the 420HP 3.6L Turbo found in the CTS. That would actually be a bad ass Buick. Even with the common N/A 3.6L, it’s still tempting but again, I am a wagon person. Wishful thinking though as GM just doesn’t seem interested in giving Buick some real Powertrain options, much like they are doing to Cadillac’s CUVs. The NA 3.6L will only get you so far in a turbo driven world.

At least Kia will sell a RWD four door with some balls to it, IN A CUV DOMINANT MARKET, while GM pulled their best RWD sport sedan (the SS, which I love btw) because well, they never really gave it a fair shot in the first place. The point is further evidenced that there is no planned replacement for it (the SS) either, despite the possession of a viable RWD platform to on which to create one so your “GM chooses to bring new platforms to the market and kill old ones that have been around for 10 years” argument. Well, where is it? Also, if they like dumping 10 year old platforms, then explain the Cascadia and every other Buick that has been borrowed from the now defunct Opel? I get that you’re a huge GM fan and there are plenty of GM cars and trucks that I do like but they have laid some rotten eggs as well as having held on to old ness for longer than need be. Every car company has done it from where I stand. Just laying out some reality here. I won’t even get into the XT6. Seriously, I never get in one of those.

I should add that with all big players shuffling full size RWD sedans from their mortal coils (looking at you Chevrolet SS), Kia is in a unique position to seize the RWD sedan market. They only really have the Charger/300 as their competition and the Stinger is leaps and bounds better than those two, from a modern standpoint. They are doing this while undercutting the price of the much pricier and overhyped Germans (for the most part). If the car is allowed to progress in its natural growth cycle (get a few generations under its belt), it will be a top notch ride and I never thought I would have said that about any Kia.

Affordable? They are as overpriced as the rest and up until the preview photo, have had dated interiors and questionable power (aside from the WRX lineup of course). Aside from their AWD prowess, which has always been top notch, I have found nothing appealing about Subarus if you don’t have snow and ice to deal with for six months out the year. Between floating tablets and oversized tablets that now have HVAC controls built in (as opposed to actual knobs that are much easier to find and handle while driving), I am just becoming less enameled with the some of the new stuff out there. Guess I’m showing my “old fart” card here but crap like oversized tablets are why the average new car has become to pricey and out of reach for the average customer.

I am a huge tech junkie but I am way past over these oversized tablets in cars. Just keeping those damn things clean has to be an OCD nightmare.

To make a counter point to your Mustang claim, we are talking about to totally different cars and a Mustang based sport sedan, while it would be a nice thing to see, would certainly be far pricier than your average Mustang Coupe. Personally, despite that Optima greenhouse in the profile, this car shows 1000 times better in person and having sat in one (sadly didn’t get to drive it), I actually dig the minimalist approach and design on the inside. That makes the focus the road and not the shiny bells, whistle, and bright work that is so predominant in cars today (in that price range anyway). Just my two cents but I would have one in blue in a heartbeat.

Confusing names or not, a lot those consumers should be operating heavy machinery as it is. Autonomous driving is any oxymoron that is destined to fail in so many ways unless the basic transportation infrastructure itself is completely overhauled to accommodate it (dedicated lanes and roads for example). We can’t even have an infrastructure week much less the capability of accommodating what needs to happen to actually make this viable without utter calamity and catastrophe.
