  1. I mean to be seen as a competitive threat Toyota should make HD’s out of its Tundra. and then sell close to RAM levels of trucks to be seen as true competitor. With the way Toyota treats it’s trucks you’d think they’d cancel it because it is wholly uncompetitive except it’s been out so long and so little has changed that the kinks and issues have been largely ironed out.
  2. It’s the chicken tax. And also that they would never produce volumes of 400,000+ units needed, and that the American pickup market has trucks that just don’t really sell anywhere else.
  3. There is a counter argument DFelt. What if you only drive a Porsche on certain times of the year. What if it really is a 4 hour stint on your back country road after some overseas travel for work? in certain situations this can drastically reduce the cost of ownership for a car. Title taxes and insurance for a car sitting in a lot until good weather ain’t a winning proposition
  4. Mercedes is knocking this one out of the park. You can have it look rugged or look slick. This trick suspension is very capable. I’d venture that if this thing had a Maybach variant, it’ll kill the Bentayga in almost any metric, including price.
  5. I do not have a taste for BMW interiors. There’s an inherent distaste for anything not American at this forum and unfortunately that’s probably what drives away anyone who would otherwise want to comment in favour of a different make when they actually make a decent product that serves THEIR customer base very well. BMW doesn’t care for the person about to be in a hearse buying an XTS, for example. I actually have a preference for Cadillac over the BMW. But for god’s sake it’s not because is that standard of the world in-car cabin design, materials or build quality, certainly not the ATS. Anyways you must love that hideous black plastic slapped from Walmart DFelt. And could they have made a walnut burl look so fake? Why? Because walnut burl is supposed to have a unique grain pattern, not a printed on a vinyl sheet look. And CUE? Nightmare. I prefer hard buttons, BMW may be from the 90’s but at least they saved the buttons.
  6. Cadillac can’t build a better interior though, this is unchanged from the 90s, but the ATS might as well be from the stone age. and since the style for BMW is basically unchanging you can’t say the excuse that Cadillac inteior is old so that’s why it gets thrown a bone. even the XT4...weird mess maybe the interior is good materials wise but nothing home run with horrible colour schemes.
  7. 50% of me thinks it’s very handsome and 50% thinks it’s mega ugly. I’ve never felt this feeling about a new car ever before either.
  8. This is hopeless GM will build vehicles to a standard but will not actually build the infra for it. this is almost a fluff piece about GM DFelt. let’s clap our hands when someone even attempts to match Tesla’s supercharger network.
  9. I feel CAFE credits are dumb actually because it basically gives a cop-out to automakers that don’t develop fuel efficient cars and don’t make an effort to sell them.
  10. No more SEL trim either. which means in order to get a loaded Golf you have to get the GTI
  11. There needs to be a transition where either all these compliance cars are the ones left standing or they simply rename their compliance cars with popular name plates. but they should not pull a Holden and replace the Commodore with the Insignia. That would be dumb.
  12. I think American carmakers simply do not want to try to make decent midsize sedans. They don’t have the patience of Hyundai and Kia and then when cars perhaps come back in another form they will be left stranded
  13. Alan Mullaly - the great ressurector of American Giants. Boeing. Ford. Alphabet. AND NOW TESLA.
  14. The base car is loaded. Wow if it’s priced just like the Bolt I think Hyundai will have increased their pricing power and still delivered a better product. But that’s to be expected too. Bolt has been out for 1 and 1/2 model years.
  15. Yeah but GM has a snag. With the forthcoming EV credits I imagine Hyundai will swoop in and get those early non-Tesla adopters that want the credits to make the purchase viable. Yet no one wants to buy fire sale midsize sedan hybrids it seems. Bummer
  16. All 3 cars have excellent after-market support too.
  17. More competition, and Hyundai stilll has EV credits. This thing pretty much checks the Bolt everywhere. Even the styling and interior is better.
  18. That means Tesla is currently worth 50 times as much as Lucid. In that light Tesla is super undervalued.
  19. Like lookatthat. Pure luxury. Only metal, leather and cashmere carpet. Lovely.
  20. Cadillac is brining new stuff out fast though which is great to see. I think the CT4 being an ATS-L would be great. But please Cadillac offer an interior on par with Audi at least in terms of technical sophistication.
  21. My impression is that the CT4 is just a heavy refresh of the ATS with Escala headlights grafted on. Which will doom the car to an early death. I think Cadillac would fare better with the Genesis approach. Now the G70 I feel will take the Cadillac CT4 to town everywhere except driving dynamics.
  22. Some dealers even stock the Blue Metallic paint which IMO looks AMAZING and reminds me of the Liquid Blue paint used on the GT
  23. There’s a huge $4500 rebate going on all Fusion hybrids it seems. Well it makes sense to clear out inventory too, as the 2019 is incoming. Sad to see.
  24. The Fusion is getting killed because they can’t manage a brand nameplate properly, the car was never inherently lacking competitiveness. They could do a modest redesign of the interior of the Fusion to make more modern, and do a mild refresh of the platform to cut weight and they’d have very good midsize that could take on anybody in the class.
