  1. See if they hadn’t chopped down those Sequoia and Redwood old growths back in the day these fires would practically extinguish themselves. That’s what California gets IMO, turning a desert into an oasis on borrowed water from a vast underground reservoir that might be finished in the next few decades. And then what? Also California May have bountiful growth but it sure as heck should not have almond orchards for one example, totally wastes water to grow those. And then the damn water utilities, they sold unused water capacity and then when demand grew the contracts were setup in a way that the taxpayer would pay ridiculous markups for essentially their water. Nothing changed about it’s quality or management, just some slips of paper, a few crony politicians and a handful of closed door signatures and viola! A state that always mismanages its water!
  2. And there’s probably a good reason why they won’t make their most profitable utilities in China either. They cannot stand the thought of having to hand over the IP for these and then seeing a nearly there Chinese replica on market in 6 months. of course memebrs of the CCP will get around paying the tariff too.
  3. I mean as long as you can get a diesel that can run on used frying oil, I guess that’s pretty sustainable as much as electric car? I mean in a very limited use , so every time you run into a OCN every now and then. And you get your noise without being smug about it.
  4. I think they are doing this for price considerations instead of actual product planning. They want the Avenir to be the same price as the GS maybe and then make it a choice of two sides. The problem with the Regal, is that it’s value proprositon is really bad as you add options and go up trims. the base model is a fantastic deal with the 2.0 litre and sport back hatch. And then the interior, other than leather seats really sees no changes between the $27,000 car and the $40,000 car. Now it’s quick to note many cars have that problem but here’s compounded because the Regal inteior is barely better than the Malibu’s
  5. Add 25% to the price of Envision. Basically Buick’s any discount worth considering the Envision for have been wiped out. and I kinda like that. A lot. I simply would never buy a Chinese made Cadillac or Buick like I would never buy a Chinese made Rolex. And I would never buy a Rolex. Why do that when I could buy a Shinola or some other home grown watch maker? (Chinese made Rolex don’t exist. At least I don’t know for sure)
  6. Okay. I see what you mean DFelt. You can buy an Encore. And then have another Encore to that Encore. For the price of a Q3. You can’t get an Encore to the Q3. But you can to the Encore. That’s the Encores strength. Encore always means another Encore. That’s why they used that word for the name, amirite?
  7. Back to the Avenir - You gotta milk that easy money to keep the lights on. But the Avenir is really just cosmetics. It bundles a lot of options that folks would combine regardless. Then there’s a profitable up charge component to get better wheels and real wood trim. It’s really an options bundle with trim tacked on. Where else in Denali’s like Terrain Denali - wow what absolute dog $h! package that clearly is overpriced.
  8. Yeah, no one’s paying $72k for a loaded XT5. And an XT4 going for $57k... well I would say it’s pretty nice but the new Q3 just debuted and normally I am not an Audi fan but that thing is just flat out better interior and exterior wise IMO. Cadillac’s new button direction (thank you Cadillac) looks just jarring and not all that elegant, while the Q3 retains buttons (a solid win) that more expensive Audis now replace with 2 touchscreens and barely any buttons. I think that the acres of black plastic to reduce the visual bulk of the XT4 is needed, otherwise the front end would have a massive double-chin look. But it just looks horribly cheap even on top trim.
  9. Whoah... Whenever I see picks of old car interiors that are cushy and soft and padded all over I just fawn I just dawn over it. Like lookkatthat thing. Everywhere upholstered you can squish and prod and massage and it’s so cushy and huggable. I like that. Take of the headrests and you can have a pillow fight.
  10. It’s okay - Fuel efficiency was something invented by the Chinese to make U.S. autos less competitive. 😂
  11. The thing is detergents as a whole have been steadily reduced over the years as engines have become more themerally efficient and get closer to complete combustion.
  12. I think GM’s new crossovers are just okay. Nothing really screams totally as the standard bearer of its class. and it think that’s a bit of a problem. The new Rav4 is going to eat this Terrain alive because they’re giving it the full-on 4Runner style look.
  13. I have yet to see a Regal on the roads here. See plenty of Enclaves a few Envisions. okay now that the Envision is tariffed the Tourx might get a boost.
  14. The Giorgio platform did have the help of some Ferrari engineers. Then again Ford and Chevy can make Ferrari killing cars and so can Dodge. This is why why you end up with not enough money to retool SHAP properly, the Compass is totally mediocre outside of Trailhawk, and no new FCA US passenger cars for the next 3 years.
  15. What does Supra have to do with Lexus? The Supra is the new hot thing and it might as well plant nails in the coffin of the Lexus RC. They have the GA-L platform and the LC is a hoot to drive just porky and larded with impeccable luxury on the inside as well. No worse than a 6 Series. It offers the luxury of Natural Aspiration and actual sound. but I have a feeling that this car might be another chassis car that really lives up to the handling and feel of say - E90 3 Series. Also, the Z4 is a roadster, has the Supra ever been a car without a fixed roof? What is funny SMK is that you pan carmakers’ models that sell high volumes and make good profit but aren’t aligned with Mercedes and then you also go after the same cars like the LC and LS 500 that are direct competition with Mercedes but because they don’t sell in high numbers they are not viable!
  16. Well the thing is that it may be outdated yes, but Dodge makes it wildly available and it’s not an inexpensive option - they don’t force packages on top of packages with the 5.7 HEMI. It’s demerits are par for the course reliability and power similar to Chevy’s small block 5.3. But honestly I’m satisfied that in 4000 lbs plus vehicles that the Hemi V8 is featured in, the twin turbo V6s and now even four cyclinders would offer barely any real world FE advantage. And it’s port-injected too, so no carbon build-up!
  17. I really like how there’s some cars that also have dual injection, cleans off the buildup on the DI and gives efficiency benefits too.
  18. XC60 is a really popular vehicle, they should be making it in their new plant here.
  19. I kinda don’t like the exterior styling. And the Model 3 is no beauty queen either. So where will Volvo get it’s cost savings? They can’t see easily send manufacturing assemblies from China without a brutal 25% tariff even to their new plant, and this car certainly won’t be built there. Tesla will still have the $83k overpriced performance sled but I don’t think this thing will.
  20. I think they’re going to probably do something conservative, like an F version of the RX. That’s all the performance Lexus needs. Or wants to sell even.
  21. That was some especially dry sarcasm on my part. i had hoped no one would think I seriously believe Venezuela is being pulled out of it’s problems as if oil hits $200 a barrel the world will probably crumble.
  22. Plus when oil is that high, the black market price of oil is enough to pull Venezuela out of it’s stagflation. Pretty much oil might hit $200 a barrel but that might be lack of production associated, and don’t forget EVs are supposed to displace oil.
  23. Okay a part of me is that this is totally invasive. Yet that’s basically what every automaker foreign has to hand over to get market access to China. Like I’m just pointing that out.
