  1. Still waiting for those micro mini cars personal pods of doom. Yeah, even millenials want real cars.
  2. I wonder why American makes can't look at Hyundai/Kia as examples of persistence... in the car market. GM used to have an above average warranty too, wonder if that change netted in lost buyers. Only makes sense if warranty work cost more than extra sales, LOL GM...
  3. You don't need design to imply intended function. By that token, why would someone look at a competing heavy duties and decide that they're not up to their intended function based on their looks? Any HD can totally handle the max capability of the full size trucks...
  4. Certain automakers do some things better. The domestic makes nowadays are expected to make massive profits in a growth and peak economic cycle. But even truck sales are tied to housing starts and other things. In a bad economy, I’m pretty sure that GM Ford and FCA are not making cars anymore because even now they're not viable And now they all have some form of cheaper pickup or base model utility that is better equipped tech wise (not luxo power everything) than the high trim cars sold 10 yrs ago
  5. i always thought that the Avenirs should have top grade leather and should just be a luxo max trim for GM. Cadillac would then get the high - end new age materials, some luxury brands are going back to cloth but like the stuff used for designer coats and bags... anyways yes. But I’m still puzzled. I guess the agile GM thing started already. But isn’t it hard to make investments and then having to trickle elsewhere super rapidly because the initial version didn’t pan out? This V8 has yet to come to market. It’s obvious thery’re going to find uses for it. Why it’s such a rumour, I mean it’s practically guaranteed. Do we really salivate over GM that much?
  6. I think Lincoln can make good on SUVs. Especially with their naming scheme. you can get a Q7...GLE....or the Aviator or Velawhrrrrr.... Cheers to the not as big selling in terms of numbers brands that have prestigious names! i think the best thing about this Aviator, is that a lot of it screams traditional American luxury, but it’s done the right way. RWD. 400 hp base engine. Strong tranny. This is the 2020 model year Lincoln Continental. It has the fixed door handles. Yeah just a mild refresh, typical Lincoln bean counter release
  7. Contrary to your believe Casa, I truly believe GM is doing the right thing. They are blazing their own path, making cars that sell on their own merits, and are going to stop reinventing a segment. Where there’s too many entrenched choices. Instead they will will bring forth entirely new segments into themselves. Unfortunately the CT6, such a lovely car that it is will be lost. The LaX...too bad. The Cruze I think had problems because it was late to market twice. Brining to market issues all are related to standard equipment, promotion, timing of release of late available options and overall dealer experience. Cadillac is yes, they will now not make sport sedans past the end of the CT6-V. They will instead make super electric wagon/sport back/sedan hybrid thingsmajiggers that have no real competition as everyone is being really slow to ditch the sedans.
  8. But there’s a simple truth. GM simply can’t build a decent car for the life of them. Their new trucks for example. No real revolution other than bed tech that even an FCA on life support and the incumbent F150 are seen as fresher options. Their crossovers for the large part are still too damn small. Why the hell is this Blazer smaller inside than an Equinox! Yet $$$$ to start? Like it or not, there is not a single compelling model car from GM, not they they’re bad cars, but they were marketed just plain wrong. Cadillac is toast as far as I’m concerned with ever being considered a sport sedan player. Which is too bad. 20 new EVs? Half of them are from China folks. You’ll see a face lifted Buick Velite and such. That’s their plan.
  9. Why buy any compact FWD Audi or Mercedes when you can get this? as well yeah maybe not turbo engine but at least it’ll still be a good $10,000 cheaper when fully loaded against the A3 or CLA models that are non AMG or non S
  10. It’s already better than the Ford Edge except maybe the ST, that ugly sin that Chevy will soon sell being way overpriced and the Murano. Toyota has nothing here. Good on Honda, this thing is pretty much exactly what the doctor ordered for all those Accord sales lost. Plus it has a V6 standard!
  11. SMK...read again, would Mercedes make reasonable profit if it just had the German market? Hell no! Shareholders and half of the German workers would outright demand the heads to get off their ass and sell more product in other countries! To make more profit! That’s it. Every company finds its way to more profit. They don’t think about products that are nice to have, but rather what makes results. i don’t think the car is totally dead, but if you want a sedan, really, import brands overall just did a better job anyways for the model year 2018, especially in lower end trims. Maybe a Plutonium Fusion or whatever they used to call it had an interior with a positive reaction... but that’s gone. In its place is an Escape to a place that needs an Edge that is fulfilled by the Expeditonion-ing Explorer. There he will find his greatest rival, the Park Ranger. Legend says he once was a Raptor in a far off land, but came here with steel in his teeth and and four cyclinders in his heart. That’s probably why he died for like 8 years folks. He had 4 fucking cyclinders in his body. Ford’s new Focus is the F150. That is the model year 2019 Ford Focus. What were you thinking - that it’s a tin pot?! Nope, it’s a BEER CAN. Get your product of metallurgy right dammit! The Continental is no longer needed. You’d think they’d understood that a long time ago. The new continents were found hundreds of years ago. What, are they going to find a need a Continental that goes to Mars? You have Tesla’s in space for that! You need a SpaceEx...A SpaceExpediton. Dammit, looks like someone stole the idea from Ford! Instead, Sea, and Air. Where else can Lincoln emancipate the people of luxury? We haven’t mastered those like all of land yet. The Nautilus needs a capable Navigator at its helm. and the Corsair can only fly with a capable Aviator. Chrysler probably had a month where they only sold 200 of their former midsize sedans. PTful. Aren’t GIU - glad that they are LIA-ving behind some four leaf clovers instead? Plus they have Charging RAMs and Red eye’d Hellcats. They have harnessed the power of the Demon itself. May you bask in the GUTs and GLORY. Thats before you even count all these cute renegade Jeeps prowling around. Their old Wrangler to keep ‘em line just retired like all these employees being bought out. So they have a new one. May he bring forth one in his upbringing to be the next leader... the Commander, the Grand Cherokee.. And now you may find a day where there’s no Black Cadillacs to be seen in Malibu... except of course the Slades that Elevate to the top of the Sierras. I hear it’s High Country up there. We should all visit Silverados sometime. The V’s that would Cruze to along are a dying breed. Like who watches Lacrosse anyways? Seriously... The Volt led to the Bolt. That’s humans trying to reverse nature, because I’m pretty sure it was actually the true bolt of nature than led to the lowly potential of the volt... Such great legends and stories folks. Long live the prophet.... the profit. Funny how words change in how they’re spelled and pronounced. And thusly we can summarize the history of everything.
  12. Well look at it this way. Does Toyota survive with Japan mostly? Does Mercedes really make any reasonable profit in Germany alone? Aside from the part of the market that they domestically have cornered, it seems the domestic makes here have now become fully globalized and will now only compete where they make money. It’s almost as though they’ve become really conservative. The only automakers making splashes are really some Korean cars and maybe new start-ups where they aren’t compete failures. Everyting else is cold, calculated and a sign of the times.
  13. Damn. And they’re not even allocating better selling products to those plants.
  14. I think it looks just a tiny bit ungainly. From the side. Now RAM has no need to provide a midsize competitor. And the Ranger Raptor would get buried halfway back to Australia by this Gladiator. Good on Ford for eating this humble pie. Every off-road trim of the competition has been put on notice, this thing will bury ALL of them.
  15. It’s just uninspired. Remember Mahindra? They tried to sell an imported diesel pickup truck and it was massively overpriced and got abysmal fuel economy. Now how can they market this product like this and expect it to even work?
  16. I think Aston will build the best one here, as it’s the only one which might use a Mercedes platform... 😂
  17. HP and torque ratings do not a trailering or hauling capability make. What’s funny SMK is that the higher output AMG versions of the vehicles you mentioned are probably rated to tow much less if at all than just the GLS 550. in terms of pure baller ness and exclusivity, the Navigator is the ride to get. The Escalade gets major props for being that ride. The GLS is more car-like. And it’s driven more like a car and less like a truck. If you’re saying that a GLS driver won’t sweat bullets towing over 7000 pounds you’re kidding yourself. The Navigator gets pro trailer backup assist and both the American trucks get allmost all other truck feature.
  18. Hyundai’s best attribute is still features and bang for the buck. But as vehicles are now really about image and appliance like virtues, hell yes having a shortage of generic, me-too crossovers is bad.
  19. I’m split on that. Because Ford cars do decent in Europe and Ford is well differentiated from VW. The Polo is simply not a Fiesta. The Focus is far more fun than the Golf. The Golf is more, Golf. The Transit is the best or nothing in terms of cargo vans. Electric vehicles I think Ford has the edge here too. They don’t have to produce nearly as many for compliance, and they have 300 mile plus crossovers in mind from the very beginning . I think Ford is eyeing Porsche’s 800KW charging tech.
  20. The thing about the American SUVs is that their BOF construction makes towing/hauling far more comfortable and enjoyable. Escalade sales are padded by livery services. The Navigator is Lincoln’s flagship. It was profitable in the previous gen and is a serious contender now.
  21. That’s the point actually. To take make the die hard ‘vert fans pay dearly for their stubborn obsession with open top grand touring overcomplicated, bloated 4 seat coupes. Though Cadillac refuses to even try so hey, at least BMW can say what SMK mentioned, they can finally say they compete with Mercedes.
