  1. I still think it's too bad that GM sold SAAB because it was really starting to come into its own with the 9-5 and 9-4x, but it is what it is, and this unfortunately does not look as good as the grainy "phoenix" photos that were leaking out at the time... I think that picking up a late 90's early 00's 9-3 Viggen 3 door hatch would be much more my liking...a little piece of Saab history...
  2. It looks better than the production line shots, but I will have to see it in real life...the headlights don't bother me too much, but the pointy noise and what they did with the kink in the grille is upsetting...I guess I'll just have to wait and see, but I hope it really is trail rated, and deserving of the badge.
  3. definitely closer to what I was expecting from the front fascia, and 100% better IMO...
  4. I love the idea, but the execution looks really pathetic...

    Making Trax

For some reason it seems like the prices in Canada are still higher than America despite the decrease in the dollars value... The Encore bases at $26,895 in Canada, and here it's $24,200. I bet if it were here, the Trax you spec'd out would actually be priced closer to 24 or 25k, but I see your point...especially considering all the things you do get on the Encore...
  6. I can't wait to see these on the streets...
  7. is that badge engineering? Is the VW Touareg, Audi Q7, and Porsche Cayenne badge engineering? Same principle, just have to work harder at differentiating them.
  8. I agree with you to a point...I know a lot of people thought the Verano and Encore were big risks for Buick even though I think they are both pretty awesome, and according to Encore orders and sales of the Verano thus far so do a lot of dealers/consumers, I just can't quite see this one...but, at least 80% of the investment is already there, so it's probably worth a shot...
  9. I think this is a cool little car, but I have to disagree...I don't think Buick should have this car...they do need the Astra hatches, Cascada, and a wagon would be nice too. They also should probably have something between the Enclave and Encore but then we get into the same problem GM always has had...but I'm straying off topic I just don't know if Buick is really ready to sell this yet, or if consumers are ready for a luxed up 500 competitor...the Verano has been a great success, but this might be pushing it a little too far right now...
  10. I like the entire thing, but I really like the greenhouse...seems to have some French influence there...
  11. I was very impressed as well...looks gorgeous in the photos, which means it will probably look drop dead sexy in person
  12. I don't know that I've ever wanted to say this about Lincoln, but it's beautiful...I see a few design cues that may not be "unique" but it's hard to be completely unique in this segment...I'm genuinely impressed...other than the mirrors, seats, and full length console, I don't see much that is "concept" only either...and I'm sure they'll offer the full glass roof (maybe minus the sliding rails). Without any sarcasm, great job Lincoln!
  13. I actually like the rear 3/4 view...the front end looks pretty awful...maybe the standard versions will have a better fascia...otherwise the interior looks less luxury and more tried to hard...guess I'll have to see them in person when they get on the local lots...
  14. My work laptop and workstation are both Lenovo's and they are good computers...as far as Windows 8 goes, I've got the phone and love it...you'll have to let me know about the full computer version...
  15. I don't want to make many comments on this since I've had direct input on the development and I'm pretty proud of it, but really excited to see what GM puts out now, and what other people are thinking about the trucks...
  16. Look at them again. The Chevy and GMC do not share anything in the front end. They also do not share bedside panels or taillights, the taillight cutouts are different, not just the lenses. Very subtle differences...in side profile photos, the fenders/bed sides look pretty much identical w/ bulges over the wheel openings..I don't see the difference, so I'm sure the general public won't see them either. Shoot man, the "general public" cannot see the difference between the current trucks, which share similar differentiation on the outside as the new ones... so you might be right. But the new ones are not a step back whatsoever. I can see the difference between the 900s...they don't even have to be side by side...these ones I am struggling with quite a bit more... Like I said earlier I do still think the GMC is quite handsome...but I guess I was just expecting too much this go around in the styling/differentiation department...
  17. Nope...I noticed this too...the last gens had different flares, tail lights, etc. These appear to have gone to basically just fascia differences...sad...
  18. I really am disappointed design wise with these two. I think the evolution seems minimal on first look, the headlights on the Sierra seem overdone (my own personal issue with everyone flocking to LED accents) and there's too much chrome surrounding everything on the Chevy grille. Also, from initial pictures, I'd say adding mylink to the current "uplevel" interior would have been a better design than what's in there now... On that note, I think the GMC is still quite handsome overall... As far as the mechanical bits go, I'm looking forward to the rest of the details...hope they really hit the nail on the head in that department.
  19. This! I looked at a couple on the dealership lot near my house and couldn't believe hardly any had foglights...also, from pictures I've not been impressed with the look of the ATS's guages...do they look less chintzy in person?
  20. This is similar to Chrysler's situation in California correct? Their manufacturer owned "Flagship" store was too close to other franchised dealerships...otherwise it wouldn't (or shouldn't) have been a problem...
  21. Could go either way, best year ever or worst. This tranny could be way better than what GM builds since it has already been out in other auto for a while. Bigger issue is once they go to their own GM engineered tranny, how long will parts really be available for this one year off unit and ouch when you get an idiot mechanic who does not pay close attention to this and trys to fix it based on what is going on with the GM tranny. I will wait and see as like I said, this could be amazing or a blow up. I'm just basing my statement on my experience working with Aisin as a co-supplier for certain automotive projects...I would never want to own a vehicle with one of their transmissions in it...could be certain products though...maybe they are great at calibrating a trans for luxury/sport sedan type vehicles...
  22. I doubt anything will really happen to the resale of these vehicles, or that there will be a drastic drop in overall sales. Saying you are paying drastically more for gas at 38 vs 40 mpg is pretty ridiculous. Most window stickers even state that the rating means most drivers will see a +/- of 3-5 mpg anyway... If they purposely inflated the numbers, that's bad...if it really is just poor testing procedures, I could understand. I work for an engine company and do a lot of similar testing, and the requirements really aren't always as well laid out or strict as people may think. Edit: They should be fixing the issues if they are real...and I understand that there were some vehicles and trims with bigger drops than 2 mpg...it was just an example...
  23. Now that's a thought! If GM and PSA did co-develop something equivalent to VW's MQB platform, it could underpin basically everything from the Sonic to the Malibu/Regal and possibly even the LaCrosse/Impala. Not to mention the next Encore and Theta replacements. Then, hopefully GM would use Alpha which should be flexible enough for several Cadillac's (hopefully the next SRX again), Camaro, and whatever other small RWD vehicles they have worked up.
