I am not that dystopian. Do hope the car as a form of personal transportation survive.

A Horse With No Name replied to William Maley's topic in Jeep
Probably almost all vehicles will have a hybrid version within these decade. Would not surprise me that this will happen!- 6 replies

You really need some sort of discipline, probably grounded actually, for your relay of anti hybrid information!- 6 replies

Jeep News: Spying: The Jeep Wrangler Pickup is Real!
A Horse With No Name replied to William Maley's topic in Jeep
Given the current climate, I would be shocked too see a diesel out of a Jeep outlet in this case. But they will probably keep suspense right down to the wire. But when they pull the switch for production most buyers will see the light and get a regular gasoline version...shocking, I know. Don't want to just Bolt out in saying this...my batteries are drained, maybe I need to stop posting for the night and go to bed. If all else fails Chrysler will have a panel to discuss this. I am sure there will be a big breaker breaker here at C and G if there is indeed a Diesel version. Given Jeeps unique shape though, a hybrid Jeep would give a whole new meaning to the term electrical box! Now that I have discharged my thoughts, I hope you are all amped up about the future of Jeep and don't have any resistance to this new truck. It will be an interesting part of the line!- 6 replies

Alfa is an Italian brand that is very god at giving Italians what they want and very poor at giving Americans what they want. Keep Alfa in Italy, let the US division sell Ram and Jeep...along with the occasional retro muscle car. Forget about trying to be all things to all people.

Lexus News: 2016 Lexus GS Gets A New Face, Turbo-Four
A Horse With No Name replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
Winning indeed! Although personally I would lie a manual ATS -
I could very well see car makers retaining the right to the software and refusing to update it, thus making the car functionally obsolete. Tesla already updates over the internet wirelessly IIRC, I for see some sort of mandated turn in.

Audi News: Rumorpile: Audi Approves Model S Fighter
A Horse With No Name replied to William Maley's topic in Audi
Given Volkswagens issues with the E-Golf and the failure of the Hybrid Jetta to do anything, this will either be a spectacular success like the Veyron or a spectacular failure. My money is on the latter. -
Leasing can make sense for a lot of people for a lot of reasons. BMW seems to under write their leases to encourage people to buy new BMW's they then can turn around and sell them as CPO cars two or three years later. Sell the same car twice....hmmm..... Personally I think repair costs have gotten so high and people do not have a lot of discretionary income or a lot of knowledge of cars, so leasing keeps them under a warranty and one less thing they have to worry about.

Honda builds excellent engines but little else really excels. Actually, they do not ahve good Turbo or hybrid technology, or good Truck engine technology, so they basically do very good and basic automobile V6 and fours that are naturally aspirated. Compare that to GM or any other full line car maker and.....you get the picture.

Honda News: Spying: Our First Look At the Honda Civic Si
A Horse With No Name replied to William Maley's topic in Honda
I think there will be. I hope Honda deals with the very real issues facing the previous generations of car to make this one more functional. Huge frontal blind spots, numb steering feel, sloping front hood that makes it difficult to know where the front of the car is, plenty of interior cheapness and rattles after a few thousand miles, awkward trunk opening....LOTS of goodness in the Honda engine! But right now I have a Honda I love....it powers a wonderful pressure washer that I find highly useful around the house. -
...they could bring home a second lesbo sedan to share with their husbands and everyone would be happy!

I really think the Technology has taken another big leap in terms of hybrids. The 2016 Prius gained ten miles per gallon over the previous car, the new Volt is an order of magnitude better, and more car makers are bringing these mainstream. We thought about a Cruze Diesel to replace the TDI we are selling back to VW, but the Hybrids are much better.

Mustang outperforms Camaro, Challenger in crash test
A Horse With No Name replied to FordCosworth's topic in Industry News
Iwatched all three crash tested on you-tube (Camaro, Mustang, Challenger) talk about being sad to watch! -
The design does look better in person than in photographs. And as to what car you should drive...people have negative comments on every car. My son drives a Ford escape and people say that is a feminine car also. I want a WRX but people say I should not drive one because I am not Asian and I am over thirty. Drive what you want, I say....

Interesting that you and I often have the same thoughts about the auto industry but our taste in cars is a polar opposite. I would take a decent Miata of any generation over an Escalade, or over any SUV on the planet, even a range Rover or luxury Benz.
-
The Miata is the sportier of the two and on my short list for a new car. Previous Miata wore out....probably a thousand Bonsai autocross runs, a dozen Ohio winters, three teenage drivers in the house, a few people not paying attention that ran into it....Miata before that sold to a Lawyer in Cincinnati. I have owned gen one and two, woudl love to own gen four.

The Renegade with that Powertrain combo would just be the bees knees! I love the Fiat mill...and the Renegade is my current favorite Chrysler/Fiat product.

Review: 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen SE
A Horse With No Name replied to William Maley's topic in Reviews
No diesel, no go. Really a shame as the third design, like my car (the 2015's E288, the 2015 only engine) was very close to meeting the limits without the cheat. But the 1.8T and 2.0T motors only offer so so reliability, and they are not putting the DSG in some models. manual is going to be a five speed only.- 1 reply
