Cadillac News: Cadillac CT6: I'm Not Dead Yet (For U.S.)
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Well, it was a SAAB 9-3 underneath, probably had decent rear seat room like the SAAB. Rear leg room is usually where FWD platforms are better compared to RWD of similar size.- 95 replies

Dodge News: Next-Generation Dodge Challenger To Embrace Electrification
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Dodge
So a Challenger EV could be potentially 4500lbs...cool. The Giorgio platform was too small and lightweight anyway compared to the current LX/LC.- 71 replies

I think my record was about 15k miles a year (2011)...I was commuting 50 miles a day round trip from central Phoenix to Chandler and back. Back in 2002 I had a commute of 120 miles a day round trip for 3 months until I moved (from Colorado Springs to Denver).

Damn that is a lot of driving...25k a year. Working from home, I've definitely cut down on miles driven. I've put only 16k on my '14 Jeep in the 21 months I've had it (had 25,189 when I got it in March '17).

I meant to type ‘prototype’ instead of ‘concept’ but got distracted and failed to come back to edit.- 95 replies

Cadillac News: Cadillac CT6: I'm Not Dead Yet (For U.S.)
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
The Cimmaron was just a rebadged Cavalier, a mediocre FWD econobox. Cadillac wasn’t even trying to build a compact luxury car, just a cheap cynical effort. The Benz and MB hatches weren’t rebadges and were RWD, just variations of the existing 3 series and C-class. Moot point, though. All ancient history. A modern Cimmaron equivalent would be if Cadillac had a Cruze rebadge in their line. The ATS is not.- 95 replies

Just saw a GMC ad during the NFC Championship game, where they were touting 'celebrate the New Year' now with 19% off MSRP. So is the unstated message is they are overpriced by 19% ?

Stayed home this weekend w/ all the foul weather, and have watched a bunch of movies. One old movie w/ Robert Mitchum (Foreign Intrigue, 1956) had this neat '49 Delahaye 135 cabriolet...blue w/ red interior, the top was half open in some scenes. Also watched another Mitchum film--'The Friends of Eddie Coyle' (1973)...gritty '70s crime film set in the Boston area..had a gold late 60s Mercedes S-class, a neat lime green '71 Road Runner, several '71-72 Galaxies and LTDs, a dark green w/ white top '69 Camaro SS, a Karmann Ghia, and Mitchum drove a battered matte black '62 Cadillac Sedan de Ville.

Cadillac News: The Move to Electric Marks Cadillac's Last Stand
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
To quote a 40+ yr old song--- Don't stop thinking about tomorrow Don't stop, it'll soon be here It'll be, better than before Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone -
Something funny about having the AWD SUV and FWD CUV in the garage, with the RWD sedan outside..

More like retreating to their home soil...GM has given up on a lot of their worldwide operations with the sale of Opel, etc. -

Those funky Eurovans do have their charm. The snow stopped for a while...a lot of wind blown snow in my driveway...shoveled a path from the garage to my sister's STS and around it, brushed off the snow on it. Must be 8-10 inches or more drifted behind it down the driveway to the street...ugh. And now it's snowing again..

Mine is really comfortable and smooth on road trips. I've taken a bunch of close trips around here (2-3 hr drives) and wouldn't hesitate to take it on a longer trip.

Genesis News: There May Be A Hotter Genesis G70

Definitely several trips...I've pretty much seen enough of the South and Southwest, so I'd like to go cross country on a Northern route, maybe I-90. I've done a lot of I-80 and I-40 in the past, parts of I-10. I've driven parts of the Pacific Coast Highway, but would love to drive the full length. Did the NE Ohio to Florida Keys trips many times as a kid in the family RVs and Town Car and also alone in my Mustang GT when I was 18. A coupe or convertible could be fun also...

On the subject of road trips, my longest was my last...June 2017 in my '14 Grand Cherokee...Phoenix, Arizona to Cleveland, Ohio in approx. 52 hours and 2099 miles. Was not fun, but something that had to be done..last trip of my move and had to get 6 dogs home. I would like to take a more relaxed pace coast-to-coast road trip some day, not sure what I'd do it in...

I enjoyed being a teenager in the 80s...lots of 80s cars I love, along w/ 80s music and movies... A bit of non-automotive randomness...was up late last night watching Audioslave, Soundgarden, Eagles, and Prince videos on YouTube...missing some of my favorite musicians that have passed in recent years. Had a funny thought---what if Freddie Mercury had made an album in the 80s w/ John Mellencamp? It could have been titled 'Mercury Cougar'... (John Mellencamp went by the stage name Johnny Cougar then John Cougar in the 80s).
