GMC News: GMC Considers Whether It Should Do An Electrified Sierra
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in GMC Trucks
On road trips, I always fill up at a half a tank. Usually like to stop for a bio break and to stretch my legs every hour or hour and a half. When I was driving across the void on I-40 I didn't want to go below a half a tank because exits and gas stations can be far apart. On that trip I got really good gas mileage, one tankful averaged like 28.x mpg.- 26 replies

Given how buggy software, is I don't trust computers to completely take control of a car. I work in the software industry, there is a lot of bad code out there and bad programmers... unless systems are built to the level of reliability and quality of NASA space mission systems or airplane auto pilot systems, I wouldn't trust them. I especially don't trust a bunch of fucking Silicon Valley millennial 'bro-grammers'...

Somedays it just feels like the country is in it's death spiral... -
I kind of like the metallic black on my Jeep, though I'd prefer metallic brown or a dark red metallic. About the only modern car I like in white is the Challenger.

Alas, such is the nature of global companies...far too many US-based companies are dependent on China for electronics and consumer product manufacturing. -
Hehheh..of course, in Scottsdale black was the dominant color for luxury cars and SUVs, with white a close second. I'll never forget sitting at the car wash w/ my Jeep one cool, sunny April Saturday morning...one black SUV (Grand Cherokee, Merc ML or GL, BMW X5, Audi Q5 or Q7, after another... and how more alike than different they are in terms of the chrome trim usage, interior colors, etc.

Hilarious.... I don't think of computers in this way. Printers, on the other hand, I think of as piles of shit. -
I know white is very popular in parts of the US on luxury vehicles..I saw it lot in AZ and So Cal. It's just so damn bland...

The front end reminds me of Volkswagen, or older Honda.. -
I like dark metallic gray exteriors..it's gray interiors I loathe...'despair' gray is what I call it, esp. cheap econobox plastics. But a dark gray exterior w/ red leather interior is great, IMO. I love metallic browns also. White and silver are colors I tend to avoid, though silver does look good on luxury sedans, it's overused. But not as overused as black and white are on SUVs..so tired of white SUVs w/ black wheels--way overdone in recent years.

Different niche. The Seqouia is their competitor for the Expedition and Tahoe/Yukon. The LC is an international product competing w/ the Nissan Patrol.

Interesting.... speaking of India market vehicles, I was reading about the Mahindra Marazzo..was at the Detroit auto show--a FWD BOF crossover for the Indian market, designed in Detroit. Very unusual.

Didn't realize they were using the Freestyle name again...(wasn't that the crossover version of the Five Hundred back in the oughts? )

Trying to come up with a good name for an electric Challenger...maybe 'AC/DC' with the lightning bolt for the slash. Or 'High Voltage'.- 71 replies

Mercedes has evolutionary styling, nothing wrong with that. Nothing is the same between the 90s and current model, but certain styling cues are still present. I like evolutionary styling...Audi, BMW, MB and Porsche usually do it quite well.. -

Hasn't been an issue for BMW, and Mercedes is going back to straight 6s. The main driving issue for V6s seems to have been having 6 cylinder engines that can fit in FWD transverse engine applications.
-
The length of an I6 is not an issue for RWD vehicles. Not undesirable at all.
