  1. That goes back to my 'smoke and mirrors' comment...vaporware, I'll believe it when I see product in a showroom and on the street... Successfully launching a tech software company is a very difficult proposition, successfully launching a high-tech car company has to be infinitely more difficult to pull off...
  2. Yeah, noticed that...I could probably come up with an all-GM list (if not limited to a single brand) and a Mopar list, but for a single brand Ford has the most that interest me... I can easily come up with a GM or Mopar list that has models from several brands in each list, but sticking to one brand is very limiting.
  3. Does Audi use redundant steering wheel buttons for things like radio volume and seek/scan? Chrysler/Jeep and others have done that for ages...(both my Jeeps have had them, usually use them instead of the knob or touch screen).
  4. Great interior...like how clean and subtle the dash is (I used to loathe touch screens--still do in some aspects, but have grown to like them if well-designed). Exterior definitely evolutionary from the last 29 years of big Audis..
  5. A Benz version would be a giant 3-spoke wheel...and 3-spokes are usually the ugliest of wheels...can't think of a 3 spoke design that has ever looked very good. Weird idea... I've seen on FB groups some really cheesy looking Cadillac logo wheels and steering wheels--giant logo that fills up the wheel.
  6. ^ The doors on the Model X are power opening and closing, apparently the reason is so the car can drop you off and go on it's way, (in the future when they are more autonomous). https://www.theverge.com/2016/10/20/13345440/tesla-model-x-autonomous-self-opening-door
  7. More like chasing Bentley and Lamborghini...Porsche and Jaguar CUVs are way cheaper than anything Ferrari would do..
  8. After 17 years in them, I find the 2 row mid size 4x4/AWD SUV-- specifically Grand Cherokees--are the ideal size of me...not too big, not too small, comfortable for 2, room for hauling dogs and content. They have all the creature comforts and gadgets I need, and the winter traction.
  9. IIRC TWR used to race Jaguars...they were behind the engineering of the Jaguar XJ220 in the 90s.
  10. Hmmm.. '70 Aston Martin DBS Got to have some brown '70s UK Fords in there.. '72 Ford Granada '74 Ford Cortina '80 Aston Martin Lagonda '80s Rover 3500 SD1 Jaguar XJ-S convertible Mini Cooper JCW Vauxhall VXR8 GTS '15 Land Rover Defender Heritage Edition '17 Range Rover Autobiography
  11. Forgot to mention this..last week when I went to the beach (Edgewater Park, Cleveland) a few blocks from the beach in the one of the neighborhoods I drove through I saw a fenced-in lot with several dead Mopars--a couple early 70s Cudas, late 60s Coronets and Road Runners...looked like remains of parts cars--rusty shells w/ no glass or chrome.
  12. Merica..V8s....ok. 5 Oldies: 1967 Cadillac Eldorado 1967 Lincoln Continental convertible 69 Ford Mustang Mach 1 1971 Ford LTD 1987 Ford Mustang GT 5 Modern: 2006 Ford GT Chrysler 300C Platinum 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT 392 Scat Pack 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit in brown 2017 Ford Mustang GT convertible
  13. Well, small cars has been Fiat's strength for many decades worldwide, outside the US..though I don't know how good they have been quality wise or if cheap was the key factor in their success..
  14. Actually the mesh grilles are a retro touch...sporting Bentleys since the 20s have had mesh grilles...
  15. Those are declining segments... FCA needs to play on their strengths in growing segments--trucks, CUVs and SUVs and leave the rental/generic appliance market to Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Chevy, and Ford. It is amazing how much FCA failed in their last efforts to build compact and midsize sedans...was it a case of poor marketing, poor product, or product that was good but not as good as the competition? (Dart & 200).
  16. Living close to Lake Erie and the rivers I really want a boat...would like a vintage Chris Craft, but I'll take a late model Bayliner. I've never been interested in being a pilot, but I would love to have a plane and a pilot to make traveling easier..flying by private jet rather than commercial. Something like a Cessna Citation X..
  17. For this I chose all from one marque to keep it simple. 1969 Porsche 911S 1970 Porsche 917K 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 1978 Porsche 930 Turbo 1984 Porsche 911 Targa 1992 Porsche 928 GTS 1996 Porsche 911S 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 2010 Porsche Boxster S 2010 Porsche Cayenne Turbo
  18. I'll admit after 23 years of having SUVs as daily drivers, going back to a car as a dd would be hard for me...I've thought about, seriously considered it when I had cars for a week to 3 weeks as rentals earlier this year. But I'm just really used to sitting up high, the ease of getting in and out, and the space to haul stuff when needed. Not to mention the traction and ground clearance.
  19. I grew up in a family of Ford/Lincoln/Mercury owners, so I still have a soft spot for many Fords. I already have two of these stored in the barn. 1969 Ford Mustang sports roof 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 1969 or 1970 Ford XL ht or conv 1971 or 1972 Ford LTD 2dr ht or 4dr ht 1986 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 notchback 1987 Ford Mustang GT hatchback 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition (Gulf colors) 2003-2011 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca in silver/red 2015-2017 Ford Mustang GT convertible Unknown-4
  20. Today's spotting wasn't about a specific car but weird parking. On Brecksville Road (SR 21) in Independence, Ohio there is a raised brick median with trees planted every 20 or so feet. It's in the middle of a 4 lane street. Every Saturday on my way to breakfast I see a car or two parked up on this median between the trees...very odd. I haven't noticed any tickets on the windshields so it may be legal.
  21. Surprised it's taken them this long..guess they are paying attention to Bentley, Lamborghini, etc...so when will Aston-Martin, Bugatti and McLaren get in the game? Enough foot-dragging...
  22. I plan to come up with a list for this and the others that appeared this week...just tired and worn out now...
  23. Fascinating...didn't know that..just assumed they were another fake car maker like Elio and others..
  24. Will be interesting to see if Faraday is really there or just mockups and vaporware..interesting styling, kind of reminds me of something Citroen would build...
  25. The AutoWorld die cast are very nice...have a few in my collection.
