  1. The G8 GXP is soo sweet. I'd love to see it dark gray with those rims in a dark titanium.
  2. I took my M3 up to 140-145 a couple of times on I-25 in Colorado at night in the 'dark zone' (a 20+ mile stretch between Castle Rock and Monument with no lights and only a couple exits)..took my buddy's NSX to 150 on the same road, and was a passenger in it at 150 once also (on the C470 beltway around the south Denver area). I've had my sister's Merc 500SEL up to about 110 out in the desert on a straight 2-lane. My '87 Mustang GT speedometer only goes to 85, but has some space beyond there to the peg. I don't know how fast I've ever had it, but it was past 100 I'm sure....late at night on the Ohio Turnpike in the darkness between Toledo and the Cleveland area, and a few other times, incl. I-40 west of Albequerque and I-80 west of Omaha. Those speeds in modern or relatively modern cars are pretty smooth, not a lot of sensation of speed. For the most raw, terrifying fast ride I've ever had, it had to be the time my brother took his '68 Camaro SS 396 up to 120... deafeningly loud, vibrating, windows down, thrill ride..
  3. Heh-heh..yeah. Worked in that part of the Denver area for about 3 1/2 years. If I ever record my nerd-hop album as DJ Cubicle, I want to call it 'Straight out of the DTC'
  4. It would interesting to take congressional leaders on a tour of Detroit or Flint's war zones, and point out the fact that if the automakers go out of business, many towns and cities could decline in the same way..
  5. oh, I know that stretch of road...I've driven it a few times in Hertz rentals--a white 350Z, an orange Mustang convertible, and a black Town Car.
  6. As much as I'd like to see them doing smoky burnouts, donuts, etc on the streets around Capitol Hill in a GT500, ZR1, and Challenger SRT8, or offroading across the Mall in a '09 F150, Dodge Ram,, and a Silverado HD, I suspect something tame like a Cobalt XFE, Escape Hybrid, and Caliber would make more sense, with prototypes of the Volt, Cruze, Fiesta, and EV trucked in along for show..
  7. Meh...Bill Gates flew coach for many years, even after Microsoft went big.
  8. His work reminds me of some Pink Floyd album artwork.
  9. Meh...in a BMW, or any performance car, I want a real manual transmission.
  10. Watch out for the snow and ice...could be bad at the kind of speed (isn't the weather dreadful in PA currently?)
  11. Cycle
  12. ocho
  13. The taillight treatment reminds me of a few Lincoln concepts from a few years ago. Interesting how they made the grille similar to the MKS but not the taillights.
  14. I'm sure they would complain to their US senators and representatives that they've bought off...(i.e. from the states w/ their plants)
  15. I wonder if Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc that have plants here are going to complain they aren't getting a piece of the pie?
  16. I like... I like the current car, this car definitely looks leaner, less bottom-heavy. I like the retro original Z style upturned quarter window. Nice interior, definitely has echoes of other current Nissans and Infinitis.
  17. I figured something was going down..been watching Ford and GM stock prices all morning...
  18. conspiracy
  19. Subtle updates to the current models. I've always liked the Boxster...it's one of the few small 2 seater sports cars I fit comfortably in.
  20. I presume you have heard of the 'Industrial Revolution'.... lots of coal-fired plants polluting in the 19th century..
  21. Interesting..the package I was looking at said specifically the QV. QM2 could be interesting also... I've always wanted to do a transatlantic voyage, instead of the usual 10 1/2 hr BA flight to London. Turns out going by ship is a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. I'd also like to do an Alaska cruise, and I've also thought about doing a Mediterranean cruise. Want to get back to Europe next year, been over 4 years now since I was last there. I need a good 2-3 week vacation, maybe next spring after I finish my current contract. I've also thought about doing a National Park road trip tour sometime next year... the Utah parks, Yellowstone, Glacier, Black Hills/Mt Rushmore, etc. I've lived in the West for over 10 years, but have only seen national parks in Colorado and AZ.
  22. Yes, something is definitely going on. Obviously, all the human-created pollution that has happened in the last 200 or so years has had a negative impact on the environment.
  23. Saw a beautiful black '50-53 Caddy Coupe de Ville in traffic this evening...saw it from behind and the left 3/4 view only, couldn't id the exact year..
  24. Wow..I seem to remember their plant was bombed during the Balkans wars of the '90s...didn't realize they stayed in production..looks like they updated the front end a bit.
  25. That is sad.. I've been on the Queen Mary, never saw the QE2. I'm thinking about taking a cruise next year for a vacation on Cunard's Queen Victoria, from New York to South Hampton. 8 days at sea. Queen Victoria
