  1. Yeah, a performance Volt would be cool...call it High Voltage... Something that would be cool would be a Solstice with a tweaked Volt drivetrain..sort of a budget Tesla. That would give Pontiac both green and performance credibility. Of course, GM would never do this, since they have Pontiac on the Oldsmobile path to oblivion..
  2. I wouldn't believe anything from Newsmax..isn't that right wing propaganda posing as 'news'?
  3. I can't imagine anyone singing for a boring old guy like McCain..say what you want about Obama, at least he inspires enthusiasm in people, unlike McCain who puts people to sleep with his tired schtick..
  4. PCS is mad that Pontiac didn't continue his beloved mediocre W-body Grand Prix and is now doing his part to help kill the brand from within GM
  5. Republicans.
  6. Maybe..to me, the Grand Am was just a dull rental car. Then again, I've never been a FWD believer...
  7. Alas, the GTO was the first model in a long time to have any relevance at Pontiac, which by 2003 was just another GM brand peddling mediocre FWD rental cars.
  8. I heard a radio ad for the Volt yesterday...touting the 40 mile range. But it's still over 2 years away...
  9. Yet Saturn gets GME products... so they will be the preferred child while Pontiac will be starved?
  10. Yes... an interesting factoid was that a 4spd manual was available on the '79 GP w/ the 301, supposedly only 232 were built. A buddy in high school had a dark blue '79 SJ. That was a sweet car...no vinyl top. Another A-body of the '78-80 generation I like is the Grand Am..not so much the front end, but esp. the profile..squint and there is a slight trace of the '64-65 A-body in the coupe roofline, IMHO.. The Supreme was good looking...actually, I think all of the '81-87 G-coupes were pretty nice...
  11. I agree..the Regal was the better looking of those two..later, the '81-87 Regal was my favorite looking coupe of that era. Though as far as the '78-80 A-body coupes go, my favorite was probably the Grand Prix..the only one with 4 headlights all 3 three years, IIRC. I always liked the dash w/ all the round gauges and vents. I haven't seen one in ages!

  13. He's long been a favorite...was my sister's and Mom's favorite actor, I think..have seen many of his movies over the years. I love 'Cool Hand Luke', 'BC&TSK', 'Winning', 'The Sting', 'Absence of Malice', 'The Verdict', 'Color of Money', 'Road to Perdition', to name a few..
  14. Saw a white G8 GT when I walked to lunch..sharp. Saw a dark red '66 Caprice tonight..very sharp.

  17. Overall, I've been liking what I've been seeing from GM in the last 2-3 years...in the near future, I'm esp. looking forward to the CTS coupe and wagon, and the Camaro. But I worry that besides some Cadillacs and the Corvette, there won't be many (any?) RWD models in, say 5 years... I'm not really a FWD fan overall..

  19. It's a side effect of working in the computer industry..I'm always looking forward, not dwelling on or in the past...the past is gone..I'm living for today and tommorow. The tech industry tends to lead to idealism, a belief that anything is possible with effort. It's also one of the reasons I'm a liberal (progressive, open-minded, looking to the future) and not a conservative (looking backward, bound by tradition, stuck in the past).. Anyway, it's all moot...GM has made mistakes in the past, as have other automakers. More importantly, where are they going now? What's GM going to look like in 5 years?
  20. While driving to work today, I heard a Chevy radio ad that was talking about the Volt and the 40 miles.. but they didn't mention the car is still 2 years away..
  21. I use my sunglasses whenever I'm outside in the daylight..I am pretty light-sensitive, even driving on a cloudy day I prefer my sunglasses...and living in Co and Az, where it's very bright most of the time, they are a necessity, IMHO.. Treks are good..I had one years ago, it got stolen a couple months before I moved out of Michigan..I have a Specialized, haven't ridden it in a while, it was a lot of fun though.
  22. The way I look at it, it was a huge difference in philosophy and contexts for the products...in the '70s-80s, Cadillac was very old-school, building old-time soft, quiet, flashy American traditional luxury cars--much as they had been building in the '50s, while the Germans were building very modern, very serious, sober luxury cars that were more about solidity, performance, and driving experience...two very different approaches to luxury. Differences in realities. As far as Cadillac of today, the DTS and Escalade (even though it's a truck) are in the old-school tradition while the CTS is more towards the German approach. As an aside, Balthy's posts always crack me up, he reminds me of a know-it-all, grumpy 75 yr old guy that's always whining about the young kids of today and how things were better in 1950 or whatever... I am surprised that he's apparently in his '40s..seems much older from his posts.
  23. It's a matter of perspective and one's reality context...$200 isn't much to me, but for the po', it could be a big amount. Speaking of bikes, when I bought my mountain bike 10 years ago, it was $650 but was considered a relatively cheap model, I know plenty of people that spent $3500-4000 or more on a bike..

  25. Yeah...coming from Colorado, I'm used to seeing an army of snow plows on the freeway and streets whenever there is a weather event. Unlike what I remember about Ohio and Michigan where there are often many small snow storms throughout the winter, the Front Range in CO usually get a few massive storms that come and go very quickly... But I would assume in the PNW they are prepared for snows in the mountains?
