  1. I think Nova would have been a good name... like Malibu and Impala, it's a long time Chevy name with a good image overall...
  2. True..it's a different time and place, though... the coupe market is very small now, and it seems only the small and sporty, or muscle car type, or premium luxury brand models succeed.
  3. Chennai
  4. 6 months on the ground in Phoenix now..being a foodie, I've I've found a number of local restaurants I like--ranging from Irish (Rosie McCaffertys, Seamus McCaffertys) and English pubs (George and Dragon), to a couple really Thai places (Thai Basil, Thai Elephant, Pink Pepper (been going there 10 years), Malees), a decent Chinese place (Golden Phoenix) to an Israeli place (Sabuddy) with great hummus and kebabs, a couple Greek places, a good Cuban restaurant (Havana Cafe)(in Arizona? Who would have imagined that..), a few excellent local bistros close to home (Phoenix City Grille, Sierra Bonita Grille, Ticoz) an excellent New Mexican place (Richardsons) and more than a few Mexican places... there are a couple good steakhouses (Durant's, Texaz Grill) I've been going to for 10+ years out here that I still like. Some good local Italian places also (Avanti). As far as local and national chains here, I like Corleones (cheesesteak place), Chipotle (long a favorite, from Denver), Pei Wei, Sauce (these two are only a mile from home, so I seem to hit them every week), Pick up Stix (decent Chinese fast food), Baja Fresh, L&L Hawaiian BBQ, Gordon-Bierch (tasty food and Chzech-style lagers at this brewpub chain), Pita Jungle, The Keg Steakhouse, Bamboo Club, Earl's.... I still haven't found a really good Indian restaurant, though Bombay Spice near me is an interesting wine bar with some Westernized Indian dishes. I hear there are some good Indian places out in Tempe and Mesa...have to go explore there some. Probably will eat out more and venture further from my central Phoenix location in the winter, didn't really have the energy to venture very far from home during the 4 months of furnace heat summer.. Working downtown now instead of N. Scottsdale (where I was May-July) also brings me closer to other places to check out..
  5. A problem with a RWD Riviera coupe is it would compete with the CTS coupe, at least in NA.
  6. That wouldn't surprise me....trying to do the 'everyperson' averageness that some say Bush had (with his fake Texas accent and ability to barely string a sentence together). And would someone explain to these people how to pronounce the word 'nuclear'??? I guess the folksiness is to appeal to the NASCAR/country music/God and guns crowd.
  7. A google turned this up...apparently it happened in May...I had the volume low I didn't hear all the details.. Article
  8. I saw it on TV...looked on the CNN website, couldn't find it. It was a gray previous generation Camry...basically, the driver put it reverse, floored it, went up onto the hood and got stuck on the windshield of the Crown Vic...
  9. They will just spend it on developing more boring FWD models for the mass market. Boring, but that is where the profit potential is.
  10. I don't know if it's on their website, but I just saw this video on CNN Headline News...a motorist that had been pulled over and ticketed for speeding put his Camry in reverse and backed up over the hood and into the windshield of a Crown Vic PI. All captured on video by the in-car camera in the police car...pretty funny.

  12. Given the relationship between Audi and Lamborghini and Porsche and VW, this Lambo may be on the A4/A5 platform or perhaps the same platform as the Panamera? Or maybe something completely new.
  13. Hellacool... so if they build this and Aston builds the Rapide, will Ferrari come up w/ a sedan version of the California?
  14. redlines.
  15. Yeah, a performance Volt would be cool...call it High Voltage... Something that would be cool would be a Solstice with a tweaked Volt drivetrain..sort of a budget Tesla. That would give Pontiac both green and performance credibility. Of course, GM would never do this, since they have Pontiac on the Oldsmobile path to oblivion..
  16. I wouldn't believe anything from Newsmax..isn't that right wing propaganda posing as 'news'?
  17. I can't imagine anyone singing for a boring old guy like McCain..say what you want about Obama, at least he inspires enthusiasm in people, unlike McCain who puts people to sleep with his tired schtick..
  18. PCS is mad that Pontiac didn't continue his beloved mediocre W-body Grand Prix and is now doing his part to help kill the brand from within GM
  19. Republicans.
  20. Maybe..to me, the Grand Am was just a dull rental car. Then again, I've never been a FWD believer...
  21. Alas, the GTO was the first model in a long time to have any relevance at Pontiac, which by 2003 was just another GM brand peddling mediocre FWD rental cars.
  22. I heard a radio ad for the Volt yesterday...touting the 40 mile range. But it's still over 2 years away...
  23. Yet Saturn gets GME products... so they will be the preferred child while Pontiac will be starved?
  24. Yes... an interesting factoid was that a 4spd manual was available on the '79 GP w/ the 301, supposedly only 232 were built. A buddy in high school had a dark blue '79 SJ. That was a sweet car...no vinyl top. Another A-body of the '78-80 generation I like is the Grand Am..not so much the front end, but esp. the profile..squint and there is a slight trace of the '64-65 A-body in the coupe roofline, IMHO.. The Supreme was good looking...actually, I think all of the '81-87 G-coupes were pretty nice...
  25. I agree..the Regal was the better looking of those two..later, the '81-87 Regal was my favorite looking coupe of that era. Though as far as the '78-80 A-body coupes go, my favorite was probably the Grand Prix..the only one with 4 headlights all 3 three years, IIRC. I always liked the dash w/ all the round gauges and vents. I haven't seen one in ages!
