From Autoweek: New Volkswagen honcho Wolfgang Bernhard is big on dreams: working on them, driving them, making them come true, and VW is clearly dreaming big with its newest drop-top, which went from concept (in the form of the Concept C) to production reality in just 18 months. The four-place cabrio/coupe features a nifty, retractable five-section hardtop roof, five engine choices ranging from 115 to 250 hp and transmission options including the DSG direct-shift gearbox. The Eos will launch next spring in Europe and should hit the States sometime later in '06.

The C30 will go on sale next fall in the United States as a 2007 model. Volvo first announced its intention earlier this year to launch the C30 at the Detroit show but provided few details. In 2006, there will be TWO L.A. Int'l Auto Shows.....the one in January, '06 that typically competes with Detroit.....and the L.A. show in November, '06 (which will preview '07) which is representative of the decision by L.A. show executives not to interfere with Detroit in January. The new November timing will be permanent for the L.A. show. My question is....knowing that Detroit, L.A., Chicago, and N.Y are the four largest auto shows in the country, how will L.A.'s move to November affect the rollout of new concepts and production cars for the coming year? Will most of the major manufacturers still wait until January and the NAIAS to showcase ever…

Link GM will be showing 4 concept cars along with 8 world premieres at the show. I'm not sure what exactly is debuting, but we did hear a while back that there would be a Chevy concept that shows off the future styling direction for Chevy. Apparantly the new Aveo is making it's European debut, and the Astra TwinTop will be there as well. I'm still not sure what else is debuting though.

I will be Friday & Saturday night draped in C&G merchandise. I shouldnt be too hard to find. I should add I've already met Monte today from the old boards today across the street from the Tech Center at National Coney Island. One cool dude there!
