Lebanon Ford is at again. Back in 2016, we introduced you to this Ohio dealership that was offering a 727 horsepower Mustang GT for $39,995. They have now upped the ante with a 2019 Mustang GT offering 800 horsepower. According to Motor Authority, this particular Mustang GT is known as the LFP Hellion - the second part of the name refers to the Hellion Power Systems turbocharger upgrade fitted to the engine. It is a twin-turbo setup that features dual bypass valves and a high-flow intercooler. Lebanon Ford makes some other upgrades upgraded fuel injectors and revised engine programming. When all is said and done, the LFP Hellion produces 800 horsepower at the crank. Those wanting even more power can swap the five-pound wastegate spring for a seven-pound spring that increases boost - thus increasing horsepower to 1,000. The price? $39,995. Yeah, but the Company is going to bring back the Freightliner nameplate, effectively splitting the sales report into 2 brands. A rebadge now when they should be focusing all their energies and advertising behind one nameplate in a massively uphill sales battle makes no sense.1 point

Ford is killing Freightliner/mercedes in vans tho, and the Sprinter was here first in Eurovans (with 3 rebadges, too) Transit Connect : 23,216 Transit : 106,463 plus they are still seeing demand for the E-Series : 36,549 (that alone is killing MB's vans). That's 166K to mercedes' 28K. A bloodbath; MB ain't kicking no one's butt.1 point

They're doing pretty well, they have a limited number of powertrain and platforms and are approaching their 2007 sales high with a lot of momentum. Europe is their big market where they sell 3-4 times as many vehicles.1 point

The market is changing in a lot of ways. Fuel prices may well go up, which will change the dynamic once again. I like that GM held on to its passenger car production in North America. I think that may bode well for them. Mazda is also way down. One wonders how long they will hang on as an independent-shades of Studebaker and Packard here.1 point

I truly think we have hit a peak and a cooling period is beginning for the North American Market. I also think many buyers are holding off till the OEMs have their EVs on the lots to kick the tires and consider if they want to go that way or not.1 point

They really do need to do something with that car. Considering they're all-in on the quite/soft luxury leasing a FWD Mazda6 would be great. Wouldn't that only benefit both companies? It could have been but it was parked at a restaurant. The gf and I were walking in and the wheels caught my eye and I quickly looked for an AMG badge and was pleasantly surprised. I knew I took a picture of it and when I found it.. it was a GLE and not a GLC. lol1 point

I love the new Lincoln names. I'm actually interested to see what they re-name the MKC into. I imagine the MKZ is probably dead as a doornail, but going back to Zephyr would be fine with me if it stuck around. I wonder if Lincoln could partner with someone who isn't giving up on sedans to make a replacement.... a heavily reworked Mazda 6 might not be bad and Mazda has no problem building cars for other brands.1 point

While I completely agree with you there is also something to be said about a truly "luxury" vehicle that isn't looking directly at profits. I agree that FWD-based is completely fine for these vehicles, I just don't think looking at profits is the best way to look at it. Sometimes your ROI might be a generation or two away as you're building their image. Right??? That's about the only thing Lincoln has done right in the last few decades. The thing is, none of us know what the cost is of these vehicles. For all you and I know that 41k XT5 only costs GM 25k while that 50k GLC costs MB 40k. It could very easily be vise versa as well. Point is, we don't know.1 point

Yesterday, last day of September. Saw a white last gen Monte Carlo LT or LTZ, making it 2006 or 2007. It had the vertical spoiler instead of the ugly flat one. The windows were slightly tinted, so I couldn't see the interior. It had the five spoke star alloy wheels instead of the more common alloy wheels on possibly 17" wheels. There was nothing pimpy about it. I'm thinking it could have been a 3.9 V6 just as likely as it could have been a 3.5 V6. It was in near perfect condition. After what some mechanics and owners have told me, I'm glad I bought what I bought instead of the MC. I still like them, though. My relatives in northern NJ once had a '71 Dart sedan ... with blackwalls, hubcaps, and everything else downmarket that came with the standard model. They still had it in the mid '90s! It had very low mileage on the odometer. It had the base slant 6 engine. (I think those were reliable.) Driving it on the more "challenging" northern NJ streets made for a horrible motoring experience. AUDI Plan = FAILURE!!! The dealerships are all about test drive, close the deal and let the person drive home. NOT a look at web pictures, talk to a sales person, put $1,000 down and wait up to a year to get your auto. This will NOT work for them, they are NOT Tesla. EVs can sell as long as they are in stock, on lots and available for test drives, purchase and drive off. I HOPE more dealerships than not will stock them and ignore Audi Corporate BS. Sadly this also shows the effect of Piss Poor Leadership from DC with stupid tradewars and tarifs. Due to being early and still building out the infrastructure you have a plan by Audi that makes no sense when the parent company is spending Billions to build out a network of charging. Companies that do push forward with EVs are going to win and reduce further those companies that take a wait and see approach. China is leading the auto industry and they better wake up to the fact that ICE is not going to be around forever. Idiot leadership from many levels in Gov to businesses on this.1 point

no no No No NO NO NO NO!! Encore is offensively small as a Buick and far too small as a Cadillac. Cadillac's volume and position MUST be taken into account as far as product planning goes. There is no need whatsoever for a teeny tiny Cadillac CUV- there's no business case for it. Thinking that Cadillac can be 'fixed' by slotting 48 different vehicles into their showroom just because another brand or two tries to is absolutely the wrong approach. No CT3, no XT3.1 point

That's not the problem. The luxury in Cadillac is the size you get at a price point. Being "big as a Cadillac" is an actual thing... There is a price point at around $32k where the Germans are selling small crossovers. Cadillac is also selling a small crossover that is slightly larger. If you're leasing one of these things at $399 a month, you're not getting into a GLC much less a GLC63. So the advantage is to Cadillac for the XT4 being larger than the very cramped GLA. Size is the selling point for Cadillac. It has been for most of Cadillac's lifetime.1 point

GLC63 models are so exceedingly rare, I have never even seen one in the wild. As far as it's concerned, they exist in paper and press fleets only. The vast vast vast majority of GLCs are 4 cylinders and the people leasing them couldn't tell you why which way the engine faces might matter.1 point

My local BMW dealer has 21 2019 X5's in inventory and 21 are AWD. FWD/RWD is a non-factor. Nearly all SUVs are all AWD. If RWD was so great in SUVs (because assumedly people were road racing them or something), wouldn't most BMW SUVs be RWD INSTEAD of AWD??1 point

They both are trying too hard stylistically to be weird. The previous gen Silverado was at it's best in 14-15, then it got overly busy w/ the '16 MCE. The new one just has too many fussy front end details and random contours on the fenders, IMO. I like the front end styling on the '14-15 and the previous generation from around 2010. Clean, no nonsense. Not trying to be agressively wierd.1 point
