What you see before you is the 2020 Jeep Gladiator pickup - at least we think it is. According to the Jeep Gladiator forum, a poster managed to grab these pictures and text from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' media site before being taken down. A lot of the information seems to fit in line with various rumors we have been reporting over the past year or two. Come standard with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 paired with either six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 will be available as an option Max payload comes in at 1,600 pounds, while max towing is rated at 7,650 pounds Two four-wheel drive systems (Command and Rock-Trac) will be available Beefy Dana 44 axles joined with electronic lockers front and rear should make for a very capable off-road machine Bed length comes in at five feet and will feature an external power source and integrated tie-downs Being a Wrangler, it will have the option of soft or hard top, and the ability to fold the windshield down. We'll find out if any this information is the real deal or not when the Jeep Gladiator debuts on November 28th.2 points

The early 70s Fords still had a really good look. My parents had a 71 country squire as a kid.2 points

I was behind a white/black top first-gen Mustang convertible this morning, with an infant seat in the back seat. It was traveling 60 in a 50. Same trip to work this morning, I saw a '71 LTD 4-door in that neutral tan color they had, and a black vinyl roof.2 points

If one wants, one can find 'signs' of a viewpoint everywhere. At some point people convince themselves with little to no tangible evidence.2 points

It's the customers who are charged in the end. But China now charges a 15% tariff on imported cars. The US charges a 25% tariff on imported trucks and has since the Kennedy Administration. Edit: Furthermore, it's not like there is some huge flood of Chinese cars in the US market. Two of the three models that were sold here have already been pulled from US sales (CT6 PHEV and S60 Inscription). Japan doesn't have a tariff on imported cars, and S. Korea's is fairly low. That's why a 25% tariff on cars imported into the U.S. from these countries doesn't make sense even from a retaliatory perspective.2 points

R.I.P. to those who have lost their lives. The lack of Federal response to the fires is inexcusable. Amazing pictures of the wildfires that started on Federal land and are burning down California. One picture I thought was sad but cool is some person's McMansion is burning down, but the fire fighters knew what to save! Ford GT350 at a home in Malibu. Car Dealership in Paradise from the Camp Fire was a total loss as the town was burnt off the map. Some old cars lost forever2 points

Was up at 4:30 am to do an airport run this morning. In the departures lane at the airport, saw a pointy black CTS-v wagon...those were so cool. Saw a 1st gen Olds Aurora on the freeway when heading home.2 points

Was in the drive thru at Dunkin Donuts this morning, behind a Ford Ecosport. Studying the rear, I realized the portion of the right taillight on the rear door has a door handle built into it... the rear door is side hinged like the old Rav4 on these, i think. But behind me was a more interesting car--a maroon w/ white top early 80s Olds 98 4dr...appeared solid.1 point

I think it looks just a tiny bit ungainly. From the side. Now RAM has no need to provide a midsize competitor. And the Ranger Raptor would get buried halfway back to Australia by this Gladiator. Good on Ford for eating this humble pie. Every off-road trim of the competition has been put on notice, this thing will bury ALL of them.1 point

Confirmation bias is a really nasty intellectual fallacy that even many intelligent people fall into. We have not really even re established where we were in 1984 when I graduated high school. Too many Americans don't want to buy American and are buying cheap chinese crap. He is entitled to his economic and political opinion just like you are entitled to yours.1 point

But that's why this 25% thing that Trump is going for makes no sense. I agree with you that tariffs should be reciprocal... but that's not what he's doing. 25% on Japanese cars when they charge 0%? It's hamfisted. Had he come out with reciprocal tariffs, I think he would have gotten a lot more traction and agreements.1 point

Personally, I don't care who or when. Point fingers at whoever you'd like. I just want it even for both parties. Charge 100% tariffs, charge 0% tariffs. Whatever it is, just be equal.1 point

I did not know that California elected Gavin Newsom as its governor. Two actors. Now Newsom. How quickly people forget. When he was the mayor of SF, he was involved in a scandal where he was having an affair with a female employee who was married to his friend and colleague. I'm not easily shocked, hailing from SoCal, but this sort of aligns with 'when someone shows you who they are the first time, believe them ...' He has always seemed smarmy to me. But, onward to music, when George Dukemejian was either running for or was the governor of California, they did a song mocking him called "Walk Like a Dukemejian" which paralleled the Bangles song "Walk Like an Egyptian." I generally don't like reboots for songs, but the Bangles also delivered on "Hazy Shade of Winter" by making it less morose. It was used in the film about rich a-hole SoCal kids living on the edge in "Less than Zero." But, then, in the country genre, Ray Steven's rendition of "Misty" also kicks arse on this romantic standard as performed by Errol Garner (the original) and Johnny Mathis. I've posted "Misty" at some point before.1 point

Could not agree more. Don't like the current administration in the least but like Chinese intellectual property theft even less.1 point

If US companies are charged to sell to X country, I believe it is fair to then charge X country's companies to sell their products here.1 point

Unfortunately, yes. Lot of money out that way, doesn't sound like the people that made it out had time to move much in the way of belongings. The wealthy can rebuild, but personal stuff is irreplaceable. I looked into wildfires when the last big CA one was ongoing and was surprised to see CA was NOT #1. I think TX might have been. I guess they get more coverage in CA, because I would've thought 75% of the US's fires were out there.1 point

Don't dis-include the X as being an overpriced SUV. For comparison's sake, I would have liked to see the GLE63 or the (god forbid, it's ugly) GLE63 Coupe.1 point

GM's pricing is rather assertive lately. They'll get fewer buyers, but at higher prices... and they seem to be okay with that. They're clearly not chasing volume to keep the lights on anymore. The days of the $99 down $99 a month Cobalt are over. Personally, they're driving me away. The only new cars from them I consider competitive to other brands in terms of pricing are the CT6, ATS, Encore, and perhaps Impala. Everything else has an attractive base price, but then they really nail you on options that are standard issue or much cheaper at the competition.1 point

What you're really getting with the Bison is an appearance package with skid plates and fog lights.1 point
-
There aren't REAL upgrades though.. I can't imagine buying skid plates, non-body matching bumpers and tires would set you back that much. The Rubicon gets actual upgrades with 33inch tires, a true crawl ratio, sway bar disconnect, and Dana 44 axles(front and rear). Also, the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon starts at 43k.1 point

Been a sad week for departures...we lost the legendary race car driver David Pearson...and my old high school friend lost his wife. She was only 51. Obituary did not say what she passed from. My aunt and uncle almost had to evaporate...my brother in laws boyhood home got wiped out.0 points

At least one 68 Fastback Mustang sadly lost forever in all of this. Yes....and to Balthazar's point a guy in Texas lost 150 vintage cars in a wildfire not that long ago.0 points
