Electrics failed because gas was and is cheap and batteries were either too weak to do the job or too expensive to justify sales. Once the batteries are actually superior to gas and charging is as fast as filling up, sales should rise significantly. Give them at least 10-15 years for that to happen.1 point

We're on the iPhone X now- how come it isn't 'cheap'? Haven't battery costs dropped even over the iPhone's lifecycle?1 point

Hey now, if Ghosn is found not guilty there is a job opening for him!1 point

It is not a matter of IF it is a matter of WHEN. One day batteries will be cheap, that is how technology works. I think one day an electric will cost the same as a similar horsepower gas car. We just don’t know when that day is.1 point

Why anyone would choose a Frontier over a Tacoma or the GM twins is beyond me.1 point
-
Nissan didn't suffer a sales hit either... the customers came from other non-truck vehicles. Nissan still sells the Frontier without incentives and keeps up a pretty good pace.1 point

YEAH! GM WAS SO GOOD WITH ELECTRIC CARS, THEY REALLY ......... (wait for it) CRUSHED IT!!!!!!!!!!1 point

Yup, The current CEO seems to think all electric, which I am very excited about especially now that they are looking to electrify the GMC Sierra!1 point

Love this as an alternative to the Rivian R1T and the F150e. Would be great as that is what we want, a crewcab all electric pickup truck.1 point

Random association can be a weird thing. With snow throwers or snow blowers, I reflexively think of one of the best 007 flicks in the series - "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (OHMSS) ... and this scene, courtesy of YouTube. (rated PG +, yikes) Possibly the best movie in the James Bond collection. Might have had the best musical score - the cuts without lyrics, that is. High school and college friends and I used to recite many of the great one liners. Their lack of political correctness was pretty damn funny. MOVING ON, Sunday is National Chocolate Cake Day. Plan accordingly.1 point

This is my exact reason for hating, while admiring Toyota. That split goes about 9-% hate, and 10% admiration if U need numbers. They pull this BS off all the time.. no flack.. no long degrading articles.. Corolla is an example. They take a vehicle and milk the sob for 5, 10, 15 years and get to tweak imperfections in reliability all the way thru.. while GM has to change their vehicles every 5 years and have new tech be vetted til its perfect, then start new again on new tech.. repeat. This is hands down, along with the GWagon and Nissan/Infiniti Quasimodo looking mofos, SUVs I wouldn't buy with your money. They are ugly, old, and have little that I find desirable. The off road thing is nominal for most, as I have not once found a person who takes a brand new $85K+ SUV out on a rock climb. It just doesn't happen. And if the badges are pretty much where the "Heritage" ends then I've truly lost faith in the Yuppies of the world. Hey Chevy. PLEASE GO TAKE A TAHOE Z71, MAKE IT A TWO DOOR, WITH A DROP DOWN TAIL, POP UP GLASS, GIVE IT A COMPLETE RUBBERIZED FLOOR, RAISE IT 3 INCHES, GIVE IT ALL TERRAINS ON A 15-16 INCH WHEEL, WITH A SPARE BEHIND THE SEATS.. AND CALL IT THE BLAZER K5 HERITAGE EDITION AND USE THESE EMBLEMS.. PITTED AND EVERYTHING WITH A HINT OF RUST1 point

The LC is probably way more reliable and cheaper to maintain in the long run... Probably just means production started in 2007 for the 2008 model year...1 point
-
Aren't they all the heritage edition? This version has been on sale since 2007, we are entering the 13th model year without an update. That is pathetic. Toyota isn't strapped for cash, update your vehicles.1 point

In my humble opinion. To me, all full sized pick-up trucks the last few years are all ugly. Dont matter if Toyota, FoMoCo, Nissan, Chevy, GMC or Dodge. I dont mind a little in your face, testosterone filled machoness in a very masculine oriented market niche, but what we got going on lately is a tad overboard. Hey, this is how I feels about it. In no way do I wanna stop the industry to stop this styling. Because obviously I am very much so in the minority to feel that way. So I could understand if somebody wants to set me straight and call me out of touch with reality and that I dont know what Im talking about. And Im fine with that if someone does say that to me. Its just that...well, this is how I see things how pick-up truck styling has become...in human terms... We are bordering on the ridiculous. Like I said...in my humble opinion.1 point

what's really pathetic is that with the head start on the market that GM had, after all this time, they could have truly wiped everyone else's ass off the floor by now and owned the market. Side note, how cool would it be for GM to re release the EV1 with modern electric powertrain?1 point

Tesla Model S is on the same wheelbase as a Challenger, but weighs 700lbs more. Plus, center of gravity has little to no bearing on acceleration. EV-ing a Demon will very likely make it slower, not quicker. I agree that there is room for both types of motivation. But all the talk about banning IC is nonsense we won't see in our lifetimes. Was reading elsewhere about Tesla & VW, and how VW (and others) may surpass Tesla. It mentioned VW's claim that it would introduce 50 EV models in a short span. Why do journalists just lap PRs up like unvarnished truth?? It's like a kid assuring you Santa Claus is real. VW sold 42,xxx Golfs in 2018. Know how many were the e-Golf? 1,385. I guarantee you VW will back away from their proclamation; they cannot survive the resulting plunging sales volume.1 point

Cadillac is getting by on the quality of its vehicles and their presentation just like this young woman is getting recognition based solely on her musical abilities. Of course...you could pick up a girl like that a hell of a lot quicker in a Cadillac than a Hyundai.1 point

Batteries will get better and so will the charge network. If there was a better charge network people wouldn't think they need 250-300 miles of range, which adds cost for a lot of battery you aren't using. 0% of buyers buy a gas powered car based on mileage range, because gas stations are all over the place. If there is more electric charging stations, people would probably be happy with 150-200 mile range electrics which would help get cost down. Also "electrified" could mean a hybrid Sierra. And really, why wouldn't you do some form of hybrid on every gas engine you have? Adding electric to any engine makes it better.-1 points
