  1. I have not censored any posts in this thread. Keep it on topic and not about each other, but otherwise have at it.

  3. I think that the design intent behind this vehicle was to provide a sizable trunk that was ideal for putting various high school friends into and getting them into the drive-in movie theater free of charge.

  5. Right, it is easy to say booo Mexico, go USA and stir up the base. But when you look past that, tariffs will add about $10k to a lot those Mexican made trucks, that will hurt the dealers in the mid-west and Texas, that will hurt businesses that need to buy those trucks, etc.

  6. Tundra is an uncompetitive turd that only sells to hardcore toyoloyolists. And there's not enough of them to steal any sales from the Big 4 trucks- the product is just an unfortunately ugly dud.

  8. This “fresh trade agreement” hasn’t even been ratified by our congress nor will it. There are simply no other words for the cognitive displacement being shown by this man. I won’t even touch on all the other BS.

  9. This reminds me of something I saw a while back..trying to apply the 3 window coupe styling to a more modern product...a PT Cruiser 3 window coupe. It's not completely successful, IMO..the roof is too high and they used stock door window frames that don't flow w/ the shape, but it is an interesting effort. https://www.hotrodplans.com/product/21st-century-hot-rod-build-3-window-coupe/

  10. I will avoid from political talk other than saying 2020 can’t come soon enough. But this won’t happen. Zero percent chance he closes the border next to zero percent chance he puts a 25% tax on GM cars and screws GM and all its dealers, and many of those dealers supply a lot of jobs in small town middle ‘Murica where Trump’s voters come from. ”All talk, no action!” To quote someone famous.

  11. Idiot POTUS45 and his incompetent business bully approach clearly threatens global trade in ways he is incapable of understanding as he would not do such moronic comments if he was a real businessman. This is so insulting to our country and the world the lack of professional leadership in DC. This approach to jobs, trade, etc. is going to hurt the poor to low income the most as costs across the board will go up. Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic.

  12. The President has threatened to slap tariffs on the import of all cars in a year if Mexico does not completely halt the flow of illegal immigration, a near impossible task. This is after he backtracked on his previous threat to completely close the US-Mexico border, a move his own advisers recommended against. Such actions would have massive economic repercussions on both sides of the border, raising prices for many consumer goods. Trump said, "Mexico understands that we're going to close the border or I'm going to tariff the cars. I'll do one or the other. And probably start with the tariffs". He further added, "I don't think we'll ever have to close the border because the penalty of tariffs on cars coming into the United States from Mexico, at 25%, will be massive". One problem with this threat is the fresh trade agreement with Mexico that Trump has already negotiated. Going back on a fresh trade agreement adds to the longtime concerns by other world leaders on whether Trump's word, and the U.S. Government, can be trusted. Tariffs on imported goods aren't paid by the exporting country, they are paid by the consumers of the importing country, so it is unclear who Trump is targeting with these tariffs. One of the biggest automotive importers from Mexico is General Motors. GM recently had to remove a Chevrolet Blazer display from a stadium in Michigan after backlash over its Mexican origin. GM has recently closed two plants in Michigan costing the state thousands of jobs.

  13. People have left Ford Insider News which is a bunch of Trump humpers...Your argument is non unique. All of the vile things that put the Insane Clown Posse in power will still be there after he is gone. And I would put Trumps odds of re election at 65 percent of better.

  14. Agree completely. Our trade deficit and budget deficits have exploded. This was foreseen by economists...but who listens to them? He is posturing for his base...nothing more. Thank you. Mexico has much better human rights than China. I don't mind buying Mexican...despise buying Chinese.

  15. How about a supercharged version? The reason why I ask is because Ford just released a supercharged version as you know. You mentioned it. The Mustang has 3 flavours of V8s in the Mustang. 1. Over 700 horsepower on a supercharged 5.2 liter V8 . Possible torque? Maybe Im hoping over 600 ft.lbs because this flavoured Mustang is not only a Chevy Camaro ZL1 competitor for track and hp numbers alike, but Hellcat muscle car competitor as well...and torque is needed for that. 2. A 520 horsepower 5.2 liter "flat plane crank" V8 for track. Naturally aspirated. The torque might be a little lower on this, but its a high revver. This flavoured Mustang really has no equal because this particualr Mustang is more European flavoured than the other two pony cars. 3. 480 horsepower and 420 ft.lbs on a 5.0 liter naturally aspired. These are 3 DISTINCT and UNIQUE V8 versions of the Mustang. Unlike the same ole shyte V8s from GM and Dodge offerings but just add a supercharger on the V8 and let the horsepower and torque fly difference on their versions. Mopar and GM go about it differently in distinguishing the "personalities" of their different versions of the Challenger and Camaro respectively, but the engines in these trims are basically the same "personality, but with a steroid approach to distinguish them. Ford's approach to the engine versions are truly different from one another. How would a turbo benefit Ford's V8 hierarchy the way it is now? To add it to the Voodoo? Well, the "flat plane crank" at 5.2 liters the way Ford has done it might have reach its potential and that is why they chose the more conventional American way of doing a V8 with the supercharged 5.2 on the GT500. To ecoboost the 5.0? That would probably increase the horsepower rating beating out the Voodoo. But what benefits that approach? The GT350 is special for many reasons. And 520 NATURALLY ASPIRATED horses is but one (of many) of those reasons. (European flavoured is another) I agree, an ecoboosted V8 SHOULD have been made by Ford...but for the Ford GT... Ford wanted to toot toot toot the ecoboost banner, maybe an ecoboosted V8 would have been ideal. Maybe not. Maybe Ford should have put an ecoboosted 2.7 liter V6 or take the tranverse 3.5 ecoboosted Taurus SHO, make, it longitude and sell the ecoboost V6 moniker BOTH on GT AND the Mustang...and make that engine into a 450 V6 horsepower affair. In other words, a DETUNED Ford GT motor for the Mustang... And had they did that, increase the 5.0 to 480 HP as it is now for 2019 back then 2-3 years ago... But I dont see how an ecoboosted V8 would benefit Ford for the Mustang as of now. If Ford decides to stop producing the GT350, then and only then would I see a need for a turbo V8.

  18. I did watch Autoline and Jeremy Clarkson said a couple months back there was one city in China that awarded 1 car license all last year. Once China goes EV the rest will follow, there are 4 times more people there than in the USA and they spend on infrastructure and grow, grow, grow.

  19. You saw Autoline afterhours with Sandy Munroe yesterday, huh? So did I! Rolls will keep the V12 as long as they dont have an electric motor to put in there. Same with BMW. Same with Mercedes Benz. But like you said, China is making life tough for ICE cars and their potential buyers. I enjoyed Sandy yesterday. I enjoyed the way he hinted about America's future if present minds dont change and yet, his hinting about that rang loud and clear. But I aint sure Marcus, Gary and John really took in his words regarding China, Tesla and the future of EVs in the world...

  21. The autcross & dirt bike racing is supposed to stay (for now). But the whole 'I bought a house near a NHRA Tier 1 drag strip and didn't think it would be noisy/didn't bother to investigate' is a special kind of stupid that shouldn't be catered to. ykX- I'm about 25 mins from E-town, have been going there for years for the swap meet (also in a long tailspin towards death IMO, but still running for now). I never raced there myself, tho I've watched racing there a bunch of times. I did hope to run when(ever) my car gets done. There's still Atco in south Jersey, but that's a bit over an hour from me. A cat-back exhaust & a cold air box are not my idea of 'building a fast car'. Taking a stock ride from -say- 13.5 secs to 13.2 secs is kinda anticlimactic. Now, going from -say- 18 sec to 10.5 sec... now you can open some eyes. To each his own, of course.

  22. Well, that is some excellent info there, my friend. Consider me now informed. Yes, perhaps I was confused. 6.5' is acceptable (even tho it's only a half foot longer than a traditional short bed). But the 5.5' bed still angers me. So does the fact that perhaps I am NOT shopping in 2019, but must put it off until '20. I can still look tho. Here's hoping that the sales downtick in Q1 and the possible 'embarrassment' of the Ram slipping past the SIlvie in volume makes Chevy start throwing all possible combos on the lot, including a RC/6.5' version.

  23. The Colorado Z71 Trail Runner and Silverado WT Appearance Package 4X4 V8 I posted above are in the same price range, at $39k. I could save $1400 and get the excellent 4.3L V6 in the Silverado. Both trucks with V6 would get similar gas mileage, per road test reports. The Colorado, with a low profile radio antenna, would fit in my garage. The Silverado would need parked outside, and I would want a remote start kit put on it for winter mornings. My dad and brother both park their trucks outside their garages... and although I think a garage is for vehicle storage and not junk, I could get used to parking outside I guess. But do I want to? I just love the idea of an old-school regular cab pickup truck...

  25. I saw some of that last night...and the damn semi trucks..I-71 northbound was pretty bad from south of Mansfield up to I-271 (which was even worse--25mph and one lane clear)... two barely plowed lanes, I'm in the right lane following a line of cars maybe going 45...and a semi blasts past in the left lane covering me in spray.. glad my Jeep is 5000 lbs w/ AWD w/ good tires...a small light vehicle would be buffeted around.
