  4. Finally, some good news out of Cadillac. The current batch of alphanumeric names is probably the worst in the business now that Lincoln abandoned theirs. EV is the future, BEV or otherwise. Our household is on our second EV, and next year we'll get our third. We're never going back to ICE.

This is a hazardous situation for pedestrians who may not hear an EV creeping up being them. Volkswagen is working on a solution to the issue by hiring composer and music producer Leslie Mandoki to produce a sound for the upcoming ID series of cars to make when operating at low speeds. One advantage of this is that brands, including Volkswagen, can craft their own voice for their cars to have. The Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System operates both inside and outside of the car and fades away when the car reaches cruising speeds where wind and road noise are sufficient. “An electric vehicle’s sound defines its identity. The sound should be confident and likable. It may well sound futuristic and must also impress with its unique character”, Dr. Frank Welsch explains as the Chief Development Officer of Volkswagen Passenger Cars.   7. Agreed. About Cadillac not spending billions trying to convert a close minded shopper. Product should be enough to convert. Agreed. Those concepts are great as is. And yes, they should have been built. And it aint too later to still build them as is as those concepts are still great and look relevant in 2020. Agreed. Prices SHOULD climb to reflect "The Standard of the World" but the little XT4 and CT4 stuff has got to go. Cadillac dealerships SHOULD UNDERSTAND that Cadillac is NOT about volume. But about STATUS.

  8. Eldorado coupe/convertible should be a given. Even if a 4-door coupe due to low demand of 2-doors, they have to do an Eldorado. I could see Fleetwood and Seville for sedans, I can't imagine given the market's thirst for SUV's they'd have more than 2 sedans, one on the smaller side, one on the larger.

Sees the Bolt deals (only one trim level btw, the most expensive one) and then sees the much higher deals on the BEST SELLING model in Chevrolets stable (multiple Silverados) and wonders if someone is just trolling yet again on a thread they originally wanted no part of even though they cried for it to happen because mentioning EVs on the Random Thoughts thread was not “random enough”.

  13. Kind of surprised Corolla's in the US are still manufactured in Japan. Consumer reports could compare 2020 Toyota and Chevrolet to see which brand has the most suction capacity.

  19. EV will take over the luxury segment first then spread down. As batteries get better and cheaper, the cost between EV and turbo V6 or V8 gets closer. And the EV is faster, more refined and quieter than ICE.

  24. Oddly, it doesn’t bother me. I don’t care for the current gen nose and think the 07-13 models looked better. I do wish they not do a spot on match with the trucks though. At least the last two gens ditched that approach to better results IMO.

  27. While that looks like this is what is happening, we could definitely use some $15-25K EVs so that we can replace ICE vehicles where it really matters: the used car market. That may take several years, but ending our dependence on oil makes sound economic and geopolitical sense, regardless of any politics involved.

  29. Whoa, think they can give them away? Chevy's site is advertising $8428 off the MSRP for a 2019 Bolt Premiere! $4640 off a Colorado ZR2... hmmm... which one has a higher percentage of discount v. MSRP? And even at MSRP, GM loses many thousands of dollars per Bolt sold. So, this is the Tesla profit model? Is that how this works? So sustainable.
