This is so BAD-A$$. If you don't love this, you don't love America. I mean they've had the Powerwagon 2500 if you want gnarly crawling capabilities. They don't even need the ZR1's engine. The ZL1/Z06/CTS-V's ~650hp would suffice. The Ram is only like 2 years old.5 points

Really cool truck. However, I hope Ford, GM and RAM will make compact versions of these, because these trucks are huge and super expensive. BTW Tesla truck has nothing to do with these off-road monsters.5 points

Let me get this straight. You have a company building the #1 product (your metric: sales) for SEVENTY-TWO YEARS, selling 800,000 to sometimes 900,000 units.... and you want to put your money down AGAINST them??????2 points

^ Pretty big black eye for the 'best or nothing' company. The image damage will ripple for years & years.2 points

And remember, a Durango is basically a long wheelbase 3 row WK2 Grand Cherokee with different styling. A very solid product all around though a decade old now.. 3rd gen Durango is unibody, remember it's a WK2 Grand Cherokee variation. The 1st and 2nd gen Durangos were BOF.2 points

Not with that design... And Musk knows it. He slyly said that if the market turns off on it, he has a plan B in that he will offer a normal looking truck to peddle... https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/a33498255/elon-musk-tesla-normal-pickup-cybertruck/#:~:text=Musk%3A%20Tesla%20Will%20Build%20a%20Normal%20Pickup%20If%20Cybertruck%20Fails&text=And%20if%20people%20don't,no%20problem%2C%22%20Musk%20said. Im sure the Tesla faithfull will buy the Cybertruck. But how many of them are there? I personally doubt the Cybertruck will be a success. Its a cartoon. Its for shytes and giggles... Like those gullwing doors on the Model X. Its for show. Gullwing doors on anything will always BE a showstopper. BUT...for a family haulin' SUV, not the greatest choice. And the sales of the Model X shows EXACTLY how the market sees it... This Cybertruck will be a dud. Its already a dud. The father of it is already calling it a failure... I mean...who in their right mind willingly retracts the possible success and admits a successor is in play when the product hasnt even been finalized yet let alone launched for production? Musk really has to lay off the ganja...2 points

The GLS is similar in size to the Durango. V8, 3 row. At a much higher price point, of course. It's not like Dodge is competing with M-B. The Durango competes w/ the Acadia, Traverse, Explorer, etc..1 point

I don't factually know this, but, I have to assume crash standards have changed quite a bit in the last 10 years. i also think the exact 5.3 from the Silverado would be one bada$$ engine in the Colorado. 355hp/375tq(or so..I don't remember the exact numbers).1 point
-
The last gen Colorado had a 5.3L V8 option. The fit isn’t the problem. Demand would be. A TT V6 is the way to go in one of those/1 point

I think there have been a few overvalued companies go under in the past.. *cough* Enron *cough*. I think Tesla is going to survive but they're definitely a future-prediction based stock price still. I don't think Chevy even needs to put a V8 in the Colorado(not sure if they can with those dang crumple zones). They already have turbo v6's(3.0 & 3.6) in-house they could drop in there. Oh yeah, and the new 2.7T that needs to be in there ASAP! I'm genuinely curious what Ford is thinking upon this release. I wonder if they're going to go all diesel-one-upping each other and actually throw something bada$$ under the hood or are they doing to try and keep the same formula and cross their fingers. They certainly have some time as the 2021 F150 won't have a new Raptor anyway but I bet they're scrambling to figure something out. I can't imagine them having the balls to use the supercharged 5.2 but, ya never know. They don't like to be behind in their bread and butter segment, trucks. I wonder how much they can turn the wick up on the 3.5. Either way, even if they did pump 800hp out of it, it'll still sound like a wet fart. Raptors have possibly the most disappointing exhaust note on the market. If you put aftermarket exhaust on them they sound absolutely terrible(and any 3.5T in the F150 and I'm going to safely assume the 2.7T as well).1 point

So you’re basing your argument over company value? Not product (Which is a mixed bag at best). Not reliability (something Tesla thus far doesn’t have). Not sales (again, mixed bag). That “value” is nothing more than over inflated stock. The Cyber Truck, design wise, is utter garbage and not ONE person, that is considering a Raptor or the RAM, would even look twice at that monstrosity. Fact. Your first sentence also applies toe Benz and the AMG lineup but we don’t talk about that. Easy money.1 point

How about a high performance version of the Silverado using the 6.2 supercharged 755 hp LT5 V8 from the C7 ZR-1...AWD, lowered on 22s, call it the Silverado Defecator... that would be rad.1 point

Cool..another Hellcat. They still need to do a Promaster Hellcat...;)1 point

Sadly, Ford is going to have to cut back on the number of models it has for now. The only ones I have heard of have been EV, Hybrid, and Turbo. Might change, but they are on a serious money crunch right now......1 point

Buddy is working on a Buick GS350 coupe, I think it's a '70 (no grille or emblems currently). Has it primered & running well, burns fat tires well. Beater muscle car is the plan.1 point

^ Edmunds [pfft]. Any number for any older sedan, that high, is a red flag. Esp over 5000. EVs have shown cars are only likely to get heavier & heavier (as ranges increase) (and just as most all cars have over the last 50 years), so something in the neighborhood of a Brougham (5" more front hip room than a Model S and NO center console!), and loaded with enough batteries to move it all...THAT would glide right past 5000 lbs. But no one will ever build a sedan of that comfort (dimensionally) again.1 point

Well if Cybertruck or the Hummer have 1,000, what is Ram’s answer? All they have are dinosaur Hemi V8s that are crazy thirsty. And Ram probably won’t have an EV til 2025 at best. The big issue is money, FCA had none, much like Nissan has none, hopefully PSA had some but we’ll see how the merger goes. Elon has near endless money to build whatever he wants.0 points

Which is why one would drive with it closed..presumably it seals..not really different from how the Bristol had a spare tire compartment on one side and a battery compartment on the other side of the front fenders...0 points

Yes Bill, they were forced to sell it to an unimpressed public in looney compliance states. It was a waste of resources. Good thing the real Kia Soul is so well thought out.-1 points

IMHO, it's a good idea for Hyundai to hedge their bets creating a new brand by selling a few EV's a year to willing customers (and maybe more to UNwilling customers) just in case the EV thing goes bust. It is not a proven fact that EV will be widely well received by the buying public. So, a separate brand is a good strategy.-1 points

Quite confused by this phrase. Are you insulting me? TELL ME DAMMIT. My wet dream does not involve supercars. I think they're an egregious waste of moolah. The Hyperion DOES look like a coked-up Bug. And David (the statue) is correct, the Hyperion is an alt fuel vehicle, and since I am suck a law abiding C&G citizen, I will credit him that fact. *sticks out tongue at olds*-1 points

Surprised it took this long, for Botha Raptor competitor and for a Hellcat Ram. I think there is room for an off road Ram with less power at less price and also something more like the Ram SRT-10 that was a more road focused truck with the Hellcat. Also don’t know why there isn’t a ZR1 engine in a Silverado, it is easy to drop in a big engine and jack up the price and people will pay it. Of course is Tesla can pull off the Cybertruck then all bets are off.-1 points
-
True, but the Hellcat Ram generates demand for other Rams, that is where the money is then made. It makes the Ram seem more bad ass or cooler than the Silverado that tops out at 420 hp or whatever and doesn't have a cool name or gimmick. Although the gimmicks eventually wear out, and having good product matters more than something like a Duragno Hellcat, where the Durango is probably among the worst vehicles in the segment. But that is how Dodge has kept a dying brand alive thus far.-1 points

I would hope that Mercedes doesn't compete with crap that is built on a chassis leftovers from a 2006 Mercedes ML. I'd also say the Explorer, Highlander, Pilot, Palisade, Telluride and CX-9 are all better all around vehicles than the Durango, and I'd probably say, Atlas, Enclave and Traverse which are more the weaker vehicles in the segment and are arguably better than Durango.-2 points
