  1. There's a Suburban on Albert's side of the family with 120k miles on it. I don't remember the exact year, but it's the same generation as my truck. That Suburban had to have the brake lines done a couple years ago and it was prohibitively expensive. The kicker was that they're south west of DC and don't get much snow, so salt isn't used often and yet those lines still went. That's the situation I'm trying to avoid. I've bought a bunch of accessories for it. I bought a shorty antenna to replace the whip one. I got a center console organizer. I bought rubber cupholder inserts for all 4 spots. I found a NOS bag for the tonneau covers from a 2004 because for some reason GM stopped including the bag and instead supplied a strap system (which I have). I bought a trailer receiver cover. I've ordered a better magnetic phone mount that is super thin and will be barely noticeable. I have 3 road trip scheduled in it over the next three weekends. I have to head to north of philly to help my grandmother move into assisted living next weekend, then I have a vacation in the western maryland mountains, and then back to see my grandmother again. I am so happy with this truck, it's been great. Also, my dad did a thing too. His 1993 F-150 with 500k miles finally toasted the engine. He's keeping it and putting a new engine in it. But in the meantime, he bought a 2017 F250 Superduty CrewCab with the 8ft bed and the 6.7 TD. Bought it from Texas so it's completely rust free. 75k miles.

  2. Just had El Po Lo for lunch. Pretty good. Comparatively, I think Chipotle is fresher. Pretty funny how much we talk about food on this car blog. I think it's usually @oldshurst442 or @David fault!

  3. Del Taco is worlds better than Toxic Smell. Haven’t eaten at the Bell in twenty years. Sucks that they don’t have Del Tacos here in NC though. I do miss that about Phoenix. El Pollo Loco rocks!

  4. Oh also, he has a name! I have always always always named my vehicles with female names (when they got anthropomorphized names, not all did).... I've had Eva, Victoria, Debbie, Ernestine, and Norma. But none of the female names I was mulling over seemed to fit... it just doesn't feel like a female vehicle. So in the end, I decided I liked Gus. He's named after Gus Kenworthy, the hot, out, Olympic Gold winning skier. You know.. Avalanche... snow skiing... that's the connection.

  7. Yep and you'll be happy to know that a front-end mid-cycle refresh is coming at the same time, since we all know you've been losing sleep over the current one ? it's grown on me and it's much better in person, but I do prefer the current GMC Sierra over it.

  9. And its a shyte job... You are just a denier... You said he did not cheat... Um...yes he did. He even raped. Little girls. JUST like Slick Willie. But YOU deny. YOU get flustered when I say I hated the man waaaaay back in the late '80s. That would be 30-35 years BEFORE he became President. YOU are just a PHOQUING hypocrite... Oh... HUSH money paid to Mizz Clifford for a non-disclosure clause through Cohen and then paid back and lied all about the whole thing WAS during his Presidency. All that noise...was HINDERING his ability to LEAD THE PHOQUING COUNTRY... Id say...same shyte as the guy who soiled a certain blue dress in the Oval Office. But of course YOU wouldnt see it that way. 1. YOU are an enabling denier for that POS of a human that is YOUR President 2. YOU are a HYPOCRITE because YOU toe party lines instead of what should be DECENT for YOUR country! 3. YOU are part of the DIVISIVENESS problems in YOUR country! The word is still out on that. LOL If you REALLY cared for Melania....YOU WOULDNT DEFEND THAT LYING SACK OF SHYTE! She was HUMILIATED by him. She had to hear from FOX NEWS that he had an affair with a PHOQUING PORN STAR DURING HIS MARRIAGE TO HER. TWO PORN STARS!!!! SHE HAD TO HEAR how he had a non-disclosure agreement. TWO PHOQUING NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENTS. AND ALL THAT MONIES PAID WERE ILLEGALLY FUNDED AND PAID FOR. DURING HIS PHOQUING PRESIDENCY! GET THE PHOQUE OUT OF HERE WITH YOUR RIGHTEOUS BULLSHYTE!

  10. I've liked Chipotle for over 20 years, used to go to the original location in Denver. 'Chipotle Friday' (or Thursday) was a tradition at several companies I've worked at over the years...used to go to the one at Scottsdale Rd and Camelback every week for years.

  11. I don't know ... it's something about the way they grill their chicken, meat. When EPL put out coupons, it would incentivize me to go there for some tacos and whatnot ... and I also liked putting their very tasty mild to medium green sauce on my food. Touche'. This is called "nichemanship" in marketing jargon, IIRC. It's seeing an unmet need ... and filling it!

  14. i.e. the depth of the top of the dash on the Cactus, I think that is a result of the steep windshield rake/cab forward design. Think of 90s cars w/ steep windshields like the Chrysler LH cars, '91+ Caprice/etc, 4th gen Camaro/Firebird..all had steep windshields w/deep dashes...

  15. Ha. I was organizing and purging photo files and it seems I hadn't uploaded these. I couldn't believe how this played out: there was a wait to see the sales reps so it was soft sell and this dealership had Citroen C3s on display, not to mention these hanging chairs I remember seeing in my childhood and teenage years, which were ideal for hanging from the beams on an outdoor wooden patio in a warm climate. Inside a Citroen dealership in another land: This one was spoken for (sold tag somewhere on it): One of the current odd pastel colors that's popular across the pond ... "Why?" I ask ... I got a kick out of this chair:

  24. Well good thing its not FWD. It’s AWD and while you rag on the lack of cylinders, you skip the fact that it is over 400HP and pulls like a train and is faster off the line than the Benz E450 (with a price that is only slightly higher than the CLA45 AMG with its FOUR cylinders and less power). And where in the article does it mention a 112MPH limit (which doesn’t mean $h! anyway in the U.S. given that we have this little thing called “speed limits”)? Oh, thats right. It isn’t limited to 112. Here are the numbers from another source: TEST RESULTS Rollout, 1 ft: 0.3 sec 60 mph: 4.4 sec 100 mph: 10.9 sec 130 mph: 21.7 sec Rolling start, 5–60 mph: 4.8 sec Top gear, 30–50 mph: 2.4 sec Top gear, 50–70 mph: 3.4 sec ¼-mile: 12.9 sec @ 107 mph Top speed (governor limited): 131 mph Braking, 70–0 mph: 152 ft Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.96 g If you’re going to slam a non-Mercedes car, make sure you slam it with actual facts.

  28. Let's Look at the Facts. Potus45 cheated not once, but twice and married each cheater woman ending his marriage to the previous wife. He has tried to cover up his Golden Shower fun with prostitutes in Russia, He tried to cover up his affair with Stormy Daniels which is during the his marriage to the 3rd wife. He wants people to believe his lying dialogue of who he is. Where did Hillary cheat or cause scandal in the white house? Her husband cheated but he was a known hound dog of woman and until he decided to try and cover up the Monica affair, he had not did what Potus45 had done. Respect is earned and given and that is one thing even as much as the current president has not earned from the public, the position still deserved respect and while there are more jokes that tear the position and him down, this was not a joke that did that. Yet you had to Degrade woman period with terms that should not be used. You had to find a way to lower yourself in making a joke that could have been funny about her to below her. I have thought long and hard on this and @ocnblu you have no way to say that you did not on purpose degrade with your joke. That is something I did not do. This is all your own doing. Next time hopefully you will think twice as I am all for a joke even ones about Hillary Clinton that can be funny and clean. No need to degrade anyone or oneselve.

  31. That is a fine looking Avalanche. I think the brake line problem with GM trucks of earlier gens involved moisture in the lines, allowing the lines to weaken and burst with pressure. My Dad and brother have '03 and '04 Silverado 1500s, and both of them had full stainless lines installed after failure of the factory lines. This only occurred in the last couple of years, so they went a long time. It is a widespread problem, though. I haven't heard that it persisted into trucks as new as your Avalanche.

  32. There's a place I'm looking at near work that it's their specialty and it's all they do. They'll do a descaling and then rust proof it. It's $596 and includes underbody and all body insides. They include annual checkups and touchups for 7 years/unlimited miles. One thing I know is an issue with this generation is the brake lines rusting out, so I want them to pay special attention to that. http://www.rustrepairinc.com/ I only had time to get some video last night. I'll take some more pictures this weekend. We're expecting thunderstorms this afternoon, so I doubt I'll be taking any pics today.

  34. While these could be "spotting" photos organized by the months, I thought I'd put these few here to show what a Citroen C3 looks like with the Airbump. The first time I saw the Airbump, I didn't really like it. Citroen did their best at making it functional and aesthetic. It definitely works overtime compared to thin protective side mouldings! It's not a requirement since some C3s don't have it. With its tires and wheels, this is most likely an up-level model. This was not my rental car. My rental car was black. Side view Front 3/4 view Rear 3/4 view Fun little car.

  36. Behind the 8 ball on photos - here they are: Citroen C3 Descriptions beneath photos A side view of the Citroen C3 "super-mini" in the Sicilian countryside A top view of the C3 seen from a patio or balcony up higher at the hotel. Note that the roof has a similar indent to the areas on the door that would be filled in by their trademark Airbump. This is how the dashboard registers with a person upon entering the car. Note that this up-model had the red trim on its black interior with cloth seats This is what the driver looks at, so all the information is handy. I believe it had a digital speed readout (not sure), which I've come to prefer to an analog speedometer gauge. This is the infotainment center. At least it's not placed up high and sticking out. The climate controls, IIRC, were easy to operate. The gearshift is nicely finished in addition to working well. I believe the cup holders should be behind the shifter, not in front of it. A lip on the cubby could be useful to keep a phone from sliding forward and falling out. This is how the remainder of the C3 dashboard plays out. Notice how far out the top of the cowl protrudes to the functional face of the dash. I found that a little strange for a small car. If there's a functional or safety reason behind that, them I'm on board. End of photos - - - - -

  39. First off the E450 is a whole size class bigger than the V60, and the E-class interior blows away an S90, let alone the V60. Secondly, the V60 has a transverse engine and transmission so all that weight sits over top of the front wheels. The last V60 Polestar has a 60/40 weight split which is no bueno. A more fair fight for the Volvo would be a a CLA45 shooting brake if they make another one, or even a GLB45 would be closer in size, price and performance. The plus for Volvo is no direct competitor exists, this is like a luxury trim Subaru STi Wagon. Although a Tesla Model Y Performance with Autopilot is $69k and is very close in size to a V60 Polestar, and the Tesla is more efficient and does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. As far as top speed, Volvo said a year ago that they would start limiting all their products to 112 mph top speed.
