Exactly! I keep seeing the Zephyr all over my Facebook feed and people going gaga over it.... I'm here like "It's just a refreshed Fusion/MKZ". And really, the only difference in the profile is that instead of flipping the end of the top of the trunk up, they flicked it down so it's "like an A7"... but that's where the similarity to the Audi ends.

Doing this makes me giggle.

Fixed. The Cherokee Trailhawk and certain equipped levels of Forester and Outback are certainly more off-road capable.

Thought I saw something about a while back about a CUV-ish wagon version of the Mondeo/Fusion for the US (?) and Europe eventually.. Could be, but the running gear under a Santa Cruz is no less capable than what is under a Cherokee, Rav4, CR-V, Subaru, Equinox or whatever else and the small-mid crossover market is several million units a year. The majority of pick up buyers don't tow 10,000 pounds or haul a lot of payload, they overbuy capability they won't ever use. So I think this Santa Cruz will find a lot of buyers because there isn't anything else like it on market. 48 volt mild hybrid everything. While ICE lasts.

yes, in HP/Liter.... if you're spinning them to 7,000 rpm... they are the highest HP/Liter they've ever been.... But all of the manufacturers putting these sub-1.5liter I3 and I4s in things that really need more displacement is what I think @Davidis referencing. My Encore was an overall great vehicle hampered by the 1.4T... and now they've made a bigger version powered by a smaller displacement motor. eAssist couldn't hurt.

Serious question : what, in your opinion, of the last 20 years, has been 'earth shattering'? - - - - - - I'm impressed on 2 dimensions of the Lyriq: wheelbase is way up there at 122" (1 inch short of my B-59 and an inch longer than an Escalade), and the width at nearly 78". It has no overhangs tho, so the 197" OL is relatively short.

They are just marketing BS. Unfortunately, we have a whole new class of people now who look fit but have next to zero cardio stamina. Covid has caused permanent lung damage in many of those who caught it. Good friends of mine who are(were?) arguably more athletic than I am, now get winded climbing the steps to their second floor apartment and they had Covid over a year ago. One of them was a wrestler. It's not always about what the legs can do but what the heart and lungs can do.

If you aint fit to bike ride (too long), than maybe e-assist may work out for you, but what better way to get INTO shape than to NOT use e-assist and use your sheer will power and determination and motivation to use your LEG muscles to POWER YOUR way through and BECOME fit. I dont know. Maybe the slogans: 'Just Do it!' and 'No pain, No gain' are just marketing BS...

Not everyone is as fit as everyone else. The E-Bikes allow for an assist for those who need it.

Lyriq looks like one of the much better looking EVs. Interior looks great as well. Will be interesting to see performance, when it comes out. Considering it is a Cadillac, 60k seems like a reasonable pricing.

It actually is pretty sharp and shows that Cadillac is capable of putting out something a little more "daring" in design. And even though I know they are purely frivolous, I really dig the led sequential patterns going on with it.

Sounds like I'm the target customer...I like the Rails-to-Trails paths here in Cuyahoga Valley National Park and other parks around the metro area. And off roading for me is pulling my Jeep into gravel parking lots near some of these trails...heh heh...

No one is going overlanding in a Santa Cruz, the hardware under there is still car based. This is for people who walk paved Rails-to-Trails paths at Ohiopyle and call it hiking.

WOW, crazy build and no where near done. A guy bought a Silva S15, had issues with it driving it home, strips it down and realizes it needs a ton of work. Now with a custom tube frame and a ton of Dimple Work done to add strength and reduce weight, they are painting it, but still has a way's to go. Pretty cool project if your into custom 2 door cars. You can't call yourself "science guy" and then say no point of going to space. Science has always been about discovery of unknown and pushing the boundaries of known. If people wouldn't be willing to expand and learn and discover, we still would live in the original caves we came from and hunt with spears. There are so many innovations that came out from trying to push the boundaries, exploring. Exploring space gave a huge amount of things we use daily now. Take as an example that small helicopter flight that this whole discussion started. Flying on Mars is an equivalent of flying on Earth at 87000 feet. Current Earth record for the helicopter flight is about 41000 feet. I think it is in our nature to be curious, to explore and to expand. Either it is good or bad is up for discussion.

I'm very much a science and technology guy, and I'm pretty sure space launches and the moon missions, etc have all happened. But being cynical, I've never seen much point in going to space (beyond launching satellites).. seems like a big money pit...billions and billons of $$$ wasted that could be put to better use to improving life on Earth, IMO. I don't see the value in spreading the scourge of humanity into the solar system, humanity will destroy itself here eventually...better to contain the destruction wrought by humans to Earth.

Had my son's GF sit in my '64 GP a couple days ago. When she settled and look to her right, she exclaimed 'Look how wide it is!' I doubt I'll ever drop down to a mid-size or compact-size vehicle. Then again, the smallest daily driver I've had was within a few inches of an S-class (length)... and everything else has been larger.

I love me some Tina, and there is a great story about that last song and F1 great Ayrton Senna...
