Hi all, It's been a while I've posted here. Hope things are alright where everyone is at. I don't know if I should make a separate thread yet for a potential topic. Has anyone worked at a car dealership here? Best, Suave.4 points

I like berries in pancakes or on waffles...I like most anything w/ strawberries, raspberries, etc. I love berries on crepes...or nutella on crepes. re: Mediterranean on the brain...I've been streaming a few Italian TV shows recently, two crime dramas filmed in Sicily and now one filmed in Ferrara in the north of Italy. I need to go back to Italy, been 16 years since my last trip there.. want to see the northwest (Cinque Terra, Genoa, Italian Riviera, etc) and more of the mountains and lakes regions....I loved touring Lake Como and Lake Maggiore and the little towns around them on my last trip.. and I'd like to go back to Venice and stay more than 6 hours.3 points

Ever notice that in the search for intelligent life, all of the sensors are pointed away from earth? There was an aftermarket wood paneling kit that gives it a Jaguar feel. soo much richer looking. If I had one of these I would do it. I like the burled one better. I'd need to swap out that Cavalier shifter though.3 points

I will empty the jar by putting chocolate ice cream in it. My son too. In fact, we fight who will eat the Nutella first. Who will empty the jar first. My wife will fight both of us on why we go through soooo much Nutella... She once bought the Kirkland stuff. We whined to her to never buy such crap again. She hinted that she'd buy the Kraft stuff...we threatened bodily harm.... Nutella is a gift from the Roman Gods!2 points

Hyundai/KIA have switched to CVTs? That sucks. Have they NOT learned from Nissan's and Honda's mistakes?2 points

Never mind that! Mangia Mangia! I eat waffles the same way I eat pancakes, flap jacks, crepe suzettes and French toast: A little bit of and inundated with Im not one for fruits on these foods...2 points

@A Horse With No Name I thought it was fiction, but it's fact. All those places in the UK exist! I wonder if that's how they try to amp up some humor to combat the drizzle and the overcast skies. I'm not one for Northern Europe. A few trips told me that. I've constantly got the Mediterranean on the brain.2 points

Today is National Waffle Day. Done right, waffles are an art form. Here are some chocolate ones, topped with strawberries. Damn. Can't indulge ... going for fasting lab work in the morning.2 points

These are just soooo ugly to me. Having driven them when they first came out the powertrains are inadequate for luxury vehicles... barely adequate for regular vehicles.2 points

@balthazar @ccap41 @A Horse With No Name @oldshurst442 @riviera74 I know I am forgetting a few, We all have heard that GM will have electric crate motors just like ICE in the Same Connect and Cruise package via their GM Performance group. Ford at SEMA this year will also Launch their e-Crate Motors starting with using what is sold in the Mustang Mach-e. Ford e-Crate Motors will start with what Ford is calling the Eluminator e-Crate motor package. These will supposedly connect up to any existing Ford Transmission. Its just an engine sound vid that eludes aurally to a flat plane crank. At the end of the video, Chevy confirms a full reveal of the Z06 in the fall.1 point

My son slops Nutella on his bread, a ton of it, and before he eats his Nutella soaked bread, he takes a spoonful of it and shoves it in his mouth. I, on the other hand, HATE Nutella...on bread. I just use the spoon directly in my mouth method with such gluttonous vigor. Its scary...1 point

They share the same platform, but the NX has some differences in terms of how it drives, ride quality, and interior appointments. I would like to when I can get my hands on the current RAV4 Hybrid and upcoming NX Hybrid, but may be some time.1 point

Well, more fodder against CVTs. I periodically surf (no, not that kind) and end up on review sites like Edmund's, KBB, etc. I was looking at reviews on small Hyundais and Kias. In the past, owners have sounded off positively, raving about their reliable value-packed cars. I looked at some more recent reviews. There are still some glowing reviews, as well as some readers who think their cars are turds. What are they complaining about in their reviews? It's the transmission. In the past year or two, these cars have switched from a geared 6 speed automatic to a CVT, which they call IVT, and where the "I" stands for "intelligent."1 point

Much better options out there for less coin and with better performance where it’s needed (like the highway). $50K for a overdressed RAV4 with a CVT is just obscene.1 point

By that definition, is the UX a rebadge of the Toyota CH-R as a hybrid?1 point

Well that can't be true... even on my V6 300C I spin the tires on dusty roads before the AWD kicks in... and I'm not even trying.1 point

Interesting read on the lightest to heaviest BEV auto's today. You can read the extra few comments but I think the chart they built really sums it up on the weight of BEVs. Electric Cars From Heaviest To Lightest (insideevs.com) Interesting comparison. 5yrs out, a tie, but after that EV wins for lower cost.1 point

Dodge Demon demolished by Tesla S Plaid Yea, I can see why Dodge is going electric, time to take back the crown with an electric Demon Challenger.1 point

The system in the Ranger is fairly decent for a factory system. I listen to a lot of classical and jazz...I love how it reproduces stringed instruments. Road Trip!1 point

Here's a trifecta of songs that I listen to at times to irritate myself and which might possibly irritate you, too: 1. 2. 3. In my world, this is "the Tampa Sunshine Skyway Bridge song."1 point

I'm about to hit 30,000 miles of driving my MKC(approaching 67,000) and I don't think I've owned a vehicle this long since my first car (1995 Beretta Z26). In all fairness, I intended on keeping my Escape for a long time before a lady blew a red light. I then intended on keeping my Focus for a long time before the dual clutch transmission was too much of a piece of sht that I knew I would eventually have to spend serious money on it once it was out of warranty. So hopefully I keep the MKC for awhile and add a 3rd vehicle to the house.1 point

Another UGLY reason to AVOID Tesla! Clearly Musk and the Management team has no Honor as they delay to next quarter and for some into next year that placed their orders early, paid their deposit and just cause now the Tesla S starts $10K higher, they are shipping to the newer reservation holders who are willing to pay the $10K more over early reservation holders who are not having to pay it. Tesla apologizes for new Model S delays, but some worrying things are going on - Electrek1 point

That is the Southern European mentality as well. However, with their stop and go traffic in big cities, they are now starting to like cars that shift automatically.1 point

Anything "automatic" (CVT, DSG, etc.) is mind numbing. Give me a manual gearbox so I can participate in driving. David1 point

Drove a 2016/17 Jeep Compass (old body style) with a CVT from NC to Arizona. I would not wish that POS on my worst enemy. Apparently makers and sellers of CVTs believe that people are never going to have to suddenly accelerate to pass slower moving vehicles.1 point
-
Maybe CVTs are cheaper to build and maintain than a 8-speed or 10-speed traditional automatic. That does NOT mean the CVT is a good idea.1 point

Don't forget the lube. November, 23rd 1951, over a year after the accident. July, 27th 1950, and Milwaukee Road F7 no. 102 is in a phenomenal clip, pulling the “North Woods Hiawatha” at over 95+ mph when suddenly, the engineers side cross head seizes up in its guide, immediately overheating, and breaking! In all the horror of the running gear failing, air hoses were severed sending the train into emergency. Poor 102 was astronomically damaged, ties and road bed were obliterated, and debris from the accident were found (including the main rod) as far as 1400 feet west of Edgebrook Station. Several reports from the time account for a handful of injuries, one such was as she flew through Devon Avenue crossing, an automobile driver was injured by flying debris. Regardless, while not the best day for those involved, no one was killed. The locomotive stayed railed and traveled another 10,000+ feet before finally coming to a rest. The cause of the incident was later found to have been caused by the failure of a connection link between the valve gear's combination lever and a Nathan mechanical lubricator. They also discovered that both cross heads had been running dry, the engineers side just failed first.0 points

I believe they are considerably cheaper to R&D and then something with 8-10 ratios. Ford and GM plopped out CVT's in the past year or two as well. I don't remember what GM put it in, maybe the Cruze? I believe Ford is putting it in the new Escape with the base engine..0 points
