    that would be a 3.1L v4... for a 'truck' engine, sure.... but a slant inline would be better, and dwight has proposed something like that, right? i do think a ~200 hp 4 cyl CIB engine would be interesting for a modern s-10 a ~4.7L v6.. lets see how the 4.3L LT derived truck engine is first. My thinking on this is due to the wonderful V4 engine that Katech made based on the Corvette V8 engine and that Motus Uses for their new American Made motorcycle. http://www.katechengines.com/engineering/katech-v4/ Sweet options for the 3 V4 engines available. Base is 165hp, then 220hp and top end model is a v4 with 346hp.Spome sweet crate motors.

    Seems that there could be far more variations on this engine with amazing gains and like Riviera states, I wonder why they do not do a v6 or even a v4 off this engine. We know you have build a quality V4 engine with over 300HP 300lbs Torque with no Turbo, I would think this would be more efficient than the weak version we have of 4 bangers with turbos.

    I will agree with your facts you have stated, though with 4th generation carbon fiber tanks, it seems we are getting light tanks with compressed gas and getting the power out of the source. LNG, Liquid Natural Gas has potential also. No matter what form of fuel, I think there are benefits to both DI and TBI that we can use. I also think that Drew has a valid point that we need to be looking at higher compression engines to go with alternative fuels. Interesting to see the fuels listed as such as I have always seen it as Gallon equal which gives vastly different numbers.

    I believe that once GM moves the bulk of their auto's to a new Universal Plug and Play frame, body and engine design, they can lower cost, increase profits and reduce weight to increase MPG and performance.

    Nice write up, I have to just shake my head at this car as it really looks like a station wagon trying to be a bit more buch and not being successful. I know looks are subjective, but then while I love the Predator Movies, the Predator front grill no matter what Lexus/toyota calls it is just ugly to me. Side profile is nice, tends to remind me of the first generation SRX. Rear is bland fine, tends to still remind me of a bread box that got squished at the top. The front head on look give one an impression of being fat on the bottom but lean on top. Just looks slow and slugish from the visual cues. I would say they still have no idea of any kind of Style Mojo. The engine compartment is sure plastic covered and just looks cheap. From what I can see of the interior, seats look fine just like everyone elses seats. The dash is the big problem. For a luxury auto, this dash SCREAMS Corolla. CHEAP, It just is terrible and for a new updated model. End result is I see Lexus doing a 1yr refresh on this already just like Honda Civic. This is a FAILURE for a new luxurty CUV. It already looks dated and old and out of touch with the 21st century.

    I have to disagree with you on the 1/4 less than petrol. CNG is equal in energy content to petrol when you compare a gallon of Petrol to a gallon of CNG. Propane is clearly less pressure but has 1/3rd less energy in the same gallon. As such, all propane powered auto's loose HP, Torque and distance unlike CNG that is equal to Petrol on getting the same energy out of a Gallon of fuel. CNG being 130 Octane is much cleaner and actual increases HP and Torque figures.

    I like this car in Kodiak Brown external color with Light Dune interior best. But even then for the price they are asking for it, it still comes across as just a little higher level of a ford from the interior and does not really seem to say wow, luxury to me. I see this as a over priced competitor to Buick and Acura.

    Very true, they need to keep a strong eye on the competition as they roll out new models and they better respond when they lay an egg.

    While the numbers might say the audi and bmw are better, real world shows they are equal to the SRX. I work with a number of people who have all 3 of these CUV's and they are not seeing better gas mileage compared to the SRX.

    Cherry clean 1969 White Ford Camper special. I used to own one of these and this was like it just came off the factory floor. So nice to see it in this condition.

    Great thing about CNG is for GM fuel injected motors, there are amazing injector kits that just plug in with full wire harness so you can keep them Bi-Fuel Petrol/CNG and have an easy time running with minimal setup.     Great write up mud, Love the style of the SRX but have to admit that after test driving the car myself. There are two deal breakers for me, all 6'6" tall of me. Once I am set in the front seat, the back seat has NO leg Room or Head room. No one can sit behind me. Two is the metal trim on the dash, it reflects badly on the front glass on a sunny day and is very distracting. I wonder if the performance package has stiffer seats as I thought the seats were very comfy but firm. This would explain the cement wrapped in leather feel you got.

    Seattle you mainly see MB and Cadillac. In fact the Infinite dealership I suspect has stopped ordering the QX as they have plenty of 2012 models sitting on their lot and not moving. Ugly auto I think. Seattle seems to be fixated on MB, BMW, Cadillac and then Acura. Those are the SUV's you see all the time here.

    Being a distributor of Fuelmaker CNG home fueling appliance I do understand the clean side of a vehicle. The Honda Civic GX is an impressive CNG auto. Biggest benefits for CNG is in your trucks and full size SUV's. My 94 suburban I built up the Engine to be hi output and it requires Premium. Reduced my fuel cost to 85 cents per gallon by converting over to 130 Octane CNG. Clean buring, plenty of performance and plenty of room to keep it bifuel with storage tanks on the drivers side between the wheels and the tank in back. Europe has plenty of CNG auto's that do not take up trunk space as they replace the traditional fuel tank area with CNG tank. So you could have TBI on an engine, run CNG which has the same energy as petrol and produce 2/3rds less green house gas at a much lower cost. This would then take care of the carbon build up and no need for DI.

    Cubical then you are just talking about a Robotic Car and no real driving experiance or enjoyment. Might as well just put a bullet in personal transportation and make all take mass transit. I really hate the idea of self driving cars on the roads when I go out to enjoy a drive.

    I agree with Caddycruiser on everything he has stated about the Avalanche. It is sad to see this go, they really should have updated and kept it going as it truly stood out from any other maker. GMTruckGuy74 I suggest you stay with what you have till you can drive the new trucks and decide for yourself if it is truly what you want or not and then if it does not hit everything, go back and look for a well equipped Avalanche. Every owner I have talked with loves their Avalanche even those that thought they might not long term ended up turning into lovers of the hybrid truck/SUV. It really does hit it right in my book for a solid balance between comfy SUV with the capability of a pickup truck.

    Dwightlooi, Do you think a DI engine using Natural Gas will have this carbon problem? CNG seems to burn so clean in comparison to Petrol that I am wondering if you could go DI with CNG and us insullation to quiet the injectors?

    So in reviewing all you have stated here, while I have voted for the TBI, I do think this is misleading and really needs to be reorganized into the following options TBI - Only TBI & DI - Only DI Only None of the Above, bring back a 4 barrell holly Carburator!
