Very cool story of 50 trucks we never see any more. https://mentertained.com/50-beautiful-uncommom-classic-trucks/ Gotta love this Jeep FC-150 pickup. I also think a small 2 person mini pickup like this Morris Minor Pickup have a place in todays society. Love that the GMC Syclone is on the list, GMC really needs to build another modern day Syclone truck. Always liked the Ford Econoline pickup truck. Very cool looking. Who knew Mercedes-benz had such an ugly pickup truck.

Restoring is a Generational thing, younger people have an interest in older auto's but I am seeing at the local car shows younger people also saying they do not want to have to mess with all the maintenance of an ICE auto. Times change and as older folks pass away, younger folks will fall into two camps, those that will tinker with the old ICE auto's and those that will restore with modern power trains to enjoy driving the auto but without the maintenance. We are already seeing the death of auto clubs and car shows, if we do not change with the times to find a way to excite younger generations, a way of life will truly be lost to the history books. POSITIVE THINKING, My Wine Glass is ALWAYS half full. I believe that auto companies will want to find a way to keep young folks buying auto's. if they do not then auto companies will die and shrink and that would be bad. I believe because I want to that companies who want to have a long profitable life in selling product will find a way to have lower cost auto's. Laugh my friend at the Chinese personal transport pods, but that very well could be part of the future in America as it is in China.

Avair Motors out of Russia has announced plans of going into production first generation Ford Mustang reproductions that are 21st century updated. These all-electric power train muscle cars will have a base of 840 HP / 700 lb-ft of torque. These cars will use an aluminum chassis with carbon fiber bodywork modeled after the 1967 fastback. Two electric motors will power the AWD R67 mustang, a motor at each axle. The R67 is stated to go 0 to 62 in 2.2 seconds with a top speed limited at 155 mph. Driving range is a 315 miles on a charge from the 100 kWh battery pack. Missing the sound, Aviar will have an external sound system that simulates the exhaust note of the famed Shelby GT500. If the news is SPOT on with predictions for a Recession that will hit hard in 2019, then Toyota is gonna be in for a shock. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/10/style/2019-financial-crisis.html 5 major points from the NY Times that covers some of the same points various members here have stated. http://fortune.com/2018/12/11/janet-yellen-warns-another-financial-crisis-could-be-brewing/ Janet Yellen Former Chairwoman of the Federal Reserve is blowing a horn about the bank bundled up leveraged loans that are being sold off to the unsuspecting and the crash this debt could cause on the US. She has walked back her Optimism from earlier this year and now worries about the holes in the financial system that have been created by DC. To Quote her: Yellen, now an economist at the Brookings Institution, has previously spoken out against U.S. President Donald Trump’s unprecedented criticism of the Fed’s policies. “To totally undermine these institutions that are assets to the U.S. and the globe is worrisome,” she said. So Toyota CEO, I would be thinking TWICE about your car sales and the future growth. I perceive a slump coming up for the auto industry and some companies just might have to declare bankruptcy. I hope the Ford Family has been saving their Pennies as I think Ford is gonna need a bailout.

No reason to get excited till the trade war is over and eve if they do reduce it to 15%, nothing gained here at all. So how is Potus 45 being that ultimate deal maker that is making a difference? All we have had is higher prices and stress.

Which I prefer than the Lazy Boy recliner seating. I loved my grandfather's Cadillac Brougham but I always fell asleep in that car. Way to soft for me if I was driving.

Electric motors are cheap, the battery is the big cost for sure but then I do expect the cost to come down significantly over the next few years as production ramps up. Economy of Scale. If we keep following this trend, I expect the cost of per kWh battery to be below $100 by 2023 which makes the battery and a crate electric motor on par with traditional ice crate projects. $100 is where WITHOUT incentives, battery and electric motor are on par with ICE powertrains.

VW News: Volkswagen Jetta GLI To Debut in the Windy City
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
If it looks like this: as I posted in this story I would then be up for this as this is sexy looking to me. Way better looking than the Tesla. Thinking on this, it could be the color too, maybe the matt grey just does not do it for me. -
VW News: Volkswagen Jetta GLI To Debut in the Windy City

Jetta fans will love it, but for me such a blah looking car. Reminds me of Toyota Camry, but this is the VW version. -
Considering he had a hand in the EV Camaro plug in motor to the tranny, I can see a legacy of Box'd electric motors to replace ICE motors for restoration by those that want the Torque and reduced maintenance of an electric motor.

RJ made it very clear at the LA auto show that besides building their own auto's they would also be selling the rights to use the platform for auto development by others. This would save other companies the time to build a basic Skateboard and they can focus on just being a Coach builder. Reminds me of the early 1900's with all the various coach builders. Interesting Times we live in.

One Can hope for CUVs to cover the full spectrum of price points. I think the Suzuki subcompact cuv would be doing well if it was still on sale here. Just too early before people decided to move from cars to CUVs.

Seems that Rivian has it's first customer. Pininfarina is being reported by Autocar India as having purchased the rights and will use the Rivian Skareboard chassis to build their PF1 Luxury Performance SUV. Pinifarina is building a PF0 hypercar using tech from Croatian EV maker Rimac. Now they will build their PF1 SUV based on the Rivian Skateboard with external and internal style by Pininfarina. Expected to launch in 2021, the PF1 will have 1,088 HP and is to compete against the Lamborghini Urus which arrives in 2020 with 650 HP. Pininfarina PF1 will weight about 600 pounds more, but also have 538 more HP over the Urus. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/12/10/pininfarina-pf1-suv-rivian-ev-platform/

Considering the amount of crime in Brazil his native country, I take the Japanese honor over his manipulation of the system. Innocent till proven guilty, but so far what has been shared would tend to show his guilt.

@regfootball Totally agree with what you have stated, I know way too many 50 year olds up to baby boomers who hate having to do squats to get into and out of a car and just want to slide their ass into the seat. My parents are perfect examples of why they love their Cadillac SRX 2004 and 2008 models. They can just slide into and out of those cars and are very happy with them. As the US ages, tastes changes and cars are on the decline, I am hoping we will see cheaper CUVs to replace them.
