  1. See now I know you're lying. A great Fiat?????
  2. I thought systems like that and solar have really long warranties that should cover whatever happened.
  3. Wow that is some great information and a great link! I was trying to find something with information like that link. You nailed it. Thank you!
  4. See that's exactly what I told the gf and he response was completely different and I know she has absolutely no background in the topic/situation. And it drives me nuts when I bring it up and she just says that they have a family friend who did the same and their bill "isn't bad". "Isn't bad" is not a dollar amount I can relate to. She claims brick insulates...
  5. It's kind of in the middle.. I forgot what it was originally built for but it was a dance studio for awhile when I was younger and the guy repairs furniture out of it now and lives upstairs. Oh a house gutting party would definitely be in order. no doubt about that! food, beer, hammers n sh!t. What could go wrong?!?! hahaha Yeah there is definitely yard to work with. That was also one of my concerns.. how old and inefficient is the HVAC system that will be used to heat/cool this large of a space. Yes, there is exposed brick on the inside and I think most of it is two bricks thick.
  6. Great idea. Do I talk to the energy company(s) or is that a city thing..? I want to look into solar panels for it because it has a flat roof and gobs and gobs of space for them. If we could even cover half of the roof and sell back electricity and not pay a dime for electricity and sell some back that would be MONEY. Buuuuuut.. that all costs a lot.. Dumb question but can geothermal be done with the building already in place? I know almost nothing about it but I just assumed it was something that was done prior to the house/building being put in. We don't want much drywall. The exterior walls will be brick. We were quoted 30k for roof/doors/windows/electricity and fixing the brickwork that needs done and any walls we want put up inside(to make rooms because the damn thing is so open). GF's parents know a lot of people from their business and that they've done work with before so we're getting pretty good prices on a lot of the work. Personally, I'm still not 100% on it because its such a large task and I'm afraid things can easily slip out of out budget quickly.
  7. I want one of those Cruze Hybrid thingys. I would just paint those chrome grille thingies black because chrome sucks. If they depreciate like the last Volt has I would like to be in one next year when the '18's come out for less than 20k.

    Spied Colorado ZR2

I have a feeling it won't happen but I think for a package like this they should also throw a more aggressive tune on the 2.8 like Ford did with the 3.5 in the Raptor. Give it that little edge that it would be missing from the standard 2.8. Great little motor and all but a little more balls would be gnarly.
  9. Tunes on turbo cars are pretty damn impressive. He thinks by the way the 370 was shifting and sounding it was a manual too, which is pretty neat and one reason he thought he was holding his own to it. You should throw up some pics of the dechroming and new badges. I'm interested to see how they look.
  10. In this whole process the gf and I are looking at an old building that is way larger than what we need and I'm worried our gas/electric bills will make it more unaffordable than the building/house itself. We'd be buying it dirt cheap for the size and completely remodeling everything but it's freakin 5000sqft. Is there any way to estimate what that would cost to heat/cool that bastard?
  11. I have to believe they respond like the stupid button I have in my Escape.. and it's dog$h!, IMO. It's nice to have..i guess.. But if those paddles respond anything like my Escape then they are just a waste.
  12. Where??? I know a couple hours past stl heading south you can run into some mountains and that would be fun but my side of the river.. flat.
  13. I think we knew from the get go that it would be in no-man's land. It's the only "performance" oriented mainstream mid size sedan so that alone puts it in company of 1. I do see what you mean in compromised in both sport and "lux" and not the greatest at either. I think that attribute would make it a very enjoyable daily driver(especially when somebody offers a nice tune for it.) . At least here where the roads all suck anyway...
  14. Nice, good to hear. I too am about the de-chroming. The buddy I have with the mk6 GTI put a tune on his a few months back and love it. He said from a roll he was side by side with a 370Z up till about 100mph. I don't know much about the Z's but I would have to believe stock for stock they're fairly different.
  15. Sounds easy enough.. I'll have to put the ole thinkin' cap on.
  16. Bump so I actually see it... I don't know how/why these get shuffled so far down so quickly on my screen.
  17. I mean I can see his point but does regenerative braking make the batteries last longer? Like the life of the batteries.. But you are right in the sense that a lot of people buying hybrids/EVs are living in closer quarters and that's one reason the bought them in the first place.
  18. @dfelt Hey I wasn't sure where to post this so I figured this will be a decent place for now at least.. I'm looking at houses and considering electricity prices/costs and my local city(town, really) for "residential service" charges 0.0744 per kwh. How is that..? And I mean like.. is that good, bad, average? This is all of the information I see. I was hoping to find a breakdown by peak, off peak hours. http://www.highlandil.gov/Public_Documents/HighlandIL_LightPower/Electric_Rates I'll add @Drew Dowdell as well because..well.. you work in the industry! lol Thanks, guys! Ps. I can also start a thread if this becomes a "hot" topic.
  19. Don't all hybrid/EVs have regenerative braking?
  20. 44k? For which battery?
  21. While I am genuinely glad that it has worked out for you I would think the option of folding flat and if you need it angled up some you can throw blankets or something under there would be better as a whole. I've folded mine flat only a couple of times but I think flat would be more beneficial in most cases. I guess it also depends on how close to flat they are. I know the older vehicles that had folding rear seats really just leaned up against the front two seats. So even if they don't fold perfectly flat they're all pretty close now, I'd assume.
  22. There was something I read a couple weeks ago that GM just placed an order for 1000 more of these to their plant in Australia. Maybe there is a wicked shortage right now. supposedly it was their largest single order placed.
  23. Yeah that 10spd really helps it put more power down.. *rolls eyes* A car with this broad of a torque curve and power band it could be a 3 spd and not have problems. Maybe you aren't but there is never enough V8 horsepower! 3525lbs w/ 650hp/650tq or 3625lbs w/ 503hp. Which one sounds 'better'? The AMG GT S might be a beautiful car but the Vette has it's number. I'd wager the Grand Sport would run circles around the AMG GT S let alone the Z06 or upcoming ZR1. I know it isn't a fair comparison but the Grand Sport beat the McLaren 570 around a lap at Lightning Lap and the AMG GT S was slower than the 570 at Best Driver's Car.
  24. Yeah, I see zero STI in this Civic. I mean I guess you could say they both have the raised, large spoilers but that's it..
  25. Do you honestly think they haven't/aren't looking at other options? Do you think they made a phone call to GM and said, "Build us a Colorado to run off of hydrogen." Or the more likely scenario where they said what they needed out of a vehicle, and all of the supporting characteristics, and GM went hydrogen thinking it was the best for the given requirements. I think it's a little oblivious to think the government isn't looking into EV's for themselves. I don't know if hydrogen powered vehicles require the computers quite like an EV does but maybe they're trying to keep them from being hacked? If there's a computer, it can get hacked. That's why I said I don't know as much about hydrogen powered vehicles but it's just an idea.
