Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
ccap41 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
I think they should do it, even if it's just to find flaws in the vehicle when being run as hard as possible. That's not an F40(F430 Spider) and it's probably about 15 years old compared to the Model X. FWIW, the F430 was made from 2005-2009. Regardless, I bet the X wins in a drag race against most Ferraris. -

Always ironic that David's fleet is the least efficient... He's huffing more coal than anybody here! -
Yeah, that would make more sense to me.

i know what you mean but then people will complain it's "too small". There's no solution that will please everybody. You don't owe 25k...??♂️ Yeah, after reading some, it seems to split the difference between mid-sizers and full-sizers.

I agree with the horizontal setup. If the vehicle is wide enough, I think it looks better and is probably easier to quickly glance and navigate as your eyes don't need to drop and come back up as much to get back to the road. The Rivian is full-size truck sized though, compared to the Mach-E. it doesn't look like you can turn the screen in the Mach-E and have it make sense.

They didn't dump them all at once. The Fusion is still in production...for another couple of weeks. GM only has one vehicle with "SS". Ford has done the "Sport" or "ST" on almost their entire lineup though. That's what happens when one of their biggest buyers goes out of business..Hertz. ?

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

I think for schools, at their initial costs, is not worth it yet. For private companies or anywhere else where there are many more miles put on them and they're going to be used for more than a "state budget says we can get a new one even if it's perfectly functioning but it's been X years", they seem much more financially smart. I don't know the miles my bus does per day but when it was a full schedule they probably made two or three trips in the morning and same in the afternoon(nothing between 8-330). Each round trip is probably about 80 miles so they'd need 160-240 miles of range and can charge between 8-330 and again over night. I'm assuming dfelt's numbers were not school buses. -

i just know i would love it if the buses I rode were electric. The clunky-@ss transmissions and air brakes and howling diesel at interstate speeds make me want that ironed out. -

I also think it has to do with the people wanting original equipment in their rebuilds. FWIW, I don't know how original the 18k block is or if it's been slightly modified. -
Yeah, I think the molded spoiler looks waaaaay more suitable for a luxury car. If they want to rip out the back seats, insulation, make a fixed seat and have a hardcore street car like a CLK Black Series(I know that's a coupe), then I'm all for it and I understand. For a fast street car with a full interior and luxury amenities out the @ss, keep it a smaller spoiler. It isn't worse, it's just more susceptible to air transmission(at least that's how i read it).

That's another thing I like about them. They seem to have set themselves up for guaranteed orders for a handful of years so they should have a steady flow of revenue, hopefully covering a lot of costs and not being in the red even if their consumer vehicles aren't taking off right away because, let's be honest, it'll be difficult to move a ton of all electric trucks from a brand new company to those who aren't in-the-know like us enthusiasts. Buuuuut, it's not a Jaguar. That's just like saying you can buy a 460hp Camaro SS for 40k or a 380hp 911 Carerra for 100k. Different strokes for different folks.. But, without a doubt, the 18k block sounds absurd. -
(the downvote is for the bad news, not for you posting it - Thanks for posting it)

It's a big ole wing and I'm really glad it's molded on and not a tacky(albeit functional) raised one.

I REALLY hope Rivian has their sh!t together because that truck seems like an extremely compelling product. I also hope they've gotten the attention of people with money who want EV trucks so they don't fold in 5 years because I think they have the kind of products to enter the market and make a name for themselves. -

But part of my reason for loving either my 04 GT or 03 Mach 1 were the sounds of the 4.6L. I don't have memories of wanting just a basic-a$$ vehicle where the extra room and quieter drivetrain would be beneficial. -

Classic cars turned into EVs does nothing for me. -
They were in the 25th. I made a thread for it.

VW News: 2021 Volkswagen Arteon Decides To Freshen Up

They also appear to get a hybrid variant. "The 215bhp hybrid model is able to switch between full electric and hybrid modes, achieving up to 30 miles on a single charge of its 13kWh battery pack. The electric motor here is combined with the same 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and bespoke six-speed DSG ’box." -

The A4 is ~1500 more expensive and that gets you 188hp and 236tq. The A4 is smaller with a much weaker engine and it starts ~$1500 more. -

This is just a damn good looking vehicle. Isn't this much larger than an A4? Edit: It's 5 inches longer, 1 inch wider, and a quarter inch higher. -

Oh I agree. The F150 and Silverado should be on that list.
