  1. Like always Wings chooses to pick and choose his knowledge even when history and documentation prove him wrong.. or in more appropriate terms.. to be a an idiot. Ford HAD to go to to the banks early on because they were in every way getting ready to do exactly what GM did later. A DOE loan also helped Ford get thru the calamity that came.. MOFOs were so broke they had to sell their name... GM, with Rick Wagoner and Co, ironically decided to actually weather the storm, and were actually seen as possibly pulling thru said storm until the recession hit.. and hit hard in 2008.. and everything when busto.. After that.. the BK was inevitable.. altho I personally cried for it as far back as 2006 to rid themselves of the UAW BULLSHIT that they were into.. But like Horsie said.. why the hell are we arguing almost decade old shit.. when financials show that currently.. Mary vs Mark.. the woman, as I often like.. is ON TOP. Ford's over reliance on Fleet (a few months in the almost 40% range ) is effing its financials up. It will in turn eventually eff up buyer's resale as well. GM decided to kill many fleet sales and push retail.. resulting in the highest ATPS in the industry, and the often criticized Cadillac. . led by the Escalade, CTS and new CT6, being the #1 or #2 highest ATP winner in the land
  2. How cool is it to be an Audi owner right now? Drove that POS for a year or two.. hated the BS going into and out of service constantly.. then finding out that the Kraut Bastards that sold it to U had to buy it back.. so U could go and buy a superior GM or Ford product.
  3. Z06 or Bust at that price range. That would be fully loaded at the top end of your price
  4. Believe me its a pretty decent sample of the majority of people who buy Vettes.. and 911s. The thing is that if U can afford a $90K 2 seater most likely U can go to $150K. Why? Because the Vette/911 I speak of probably is just a toy U play with on occasion.. and they have another everyday vehicle that cost U $50K-$60K (with today's prices) to toil around as a DD. Think about the fact that every cat I kno with either a Vette, 911, hell Ferrari.. has a $50K+++ Pick-up (LTZ or High Country, Plati or Limited.. etc) or SUV as their other car. I don't kno anyone who owns a new Vette or 911 who has a Hoopty as their daily driver at my age demo.
  5. Most likely I will stick with my 500HP Z51 that still gets ooodles of looks and gives me orgasmic levels of driving excitement. LOGICALLY I can't justify buying a GS or a Z06 especially since the CTS-V is here. I will, God willing, get a C8 in its second year, as I am a Vette lover of every Generation and will love to continue that trend on my 6th of the 8 gens Check this out.. this is how crazy it is for me.. and why buying a GS or Z06 would ACTUALLY make my life harder... This morning on an 80 degree day here in sunny Maryland I walked outside and had to go "EEanie Meeanie Miney Moe..." on which I'd rather drive... The Vette won because I want the top completely out, but I kept looking back at the V as I drove away. A Z06 with the same engine as the V... I would still be there down to flipping coins and playing Rock, Paper, Scissors with myself
  6. I won't speak the obvious, but.. U kno what.. I will. The Porsche is a better accelerator because it has 63% of its weight sitting over the rear wheels as it revs to go. The tranny being able to shift itself didn't hurt either. Why GM didn't send the 8speed is beyond me.. Either way. It is what it is. The Vette then comes on board and works its perfect 50/50 balance in the handling dept with much better braking.. at $50K less no doubt. As to the demographics. I have seriously considered trading Sasha in for a GS.. or even better a Z06. I love that wide-body. Cost isn't a factor so much as the fact that my Z51 is loaded (with exception to red brakes) and the C8 is just 2 years away. Annnnnnnnnnnnnd of course the 640HP garage mate sitting next to her. Truth is at a certain level of income there are very little prohibiting factors to stop a certain buyer from splurging except simple logic. Yes, if U can afford a $90K Vette , U can certainly afford a $140K Porsche. , or U simply shouldn't be buying the $90K Vette.
  7. The Envision too, is a part of the Platform . Expect more.. as GM has been very vocal about consolidating its platforms. To the Cruze and Volt.. they IMO, look almost identical
  8. To Surreal.. probably an adjustment to Fleet sales. At one time minimum 35% of Mustang sales were Fleet... Ford's fleet dropped 21% overall last month To GM.. great job in retail uptick.. and GMC having almost 30% being sold as Denali is phenom. Cadillac is up too.. 5000 SRX/XT5s moved, and the CT6 is at 1343, with both the CTS and XTS up solid. Awesome job at Buick, but the Enclave and LaX replacements need to start showing up
  9. The hp is pretty much 500 at the crank if that number is correct. They did the same with the LT4 and determined that it was pushing upwards of 700, with cylinder deactivation no less. As far as the Carbon Fiber.. It was a necessity for me as I just had to have it on my CTS. On this car, which looks like a mini version of my car with two less doors, it looks stupendous
  10. First off the Yukon Denali debuted before or simultaneously with the first Escalade. Second Buick is autonomous. There is zero suggesting that they are even trying to be a "lower level Caddy." Again this will legitimately put it on the same level as Lincoln, Acura, and Lexus (to a degree). Soft luxury with Cadillac being whole nother level. Honestly a new Lacrosse with a detuned LF3 would be a waaaaaaay better car than anything the MKZ with 400hp could offer
  11. My optimistic side says that they will add a nice visual to differentiate the cars enough. Seriously.. My SLT is only a $400 grille and a $180 worth of chrome molding to be a Denali in looks. If Avenirs get access to the LF3, even detuned, then I think the effort will be worth it
  12. I thought GMC was supposed to be the near luxury brand of SUV/Trucks, but here we have it with almost 30%of GMCs leaving the dealership with Denali on the side and producing an extra $10K in profit. Nothing is muddled, in fact I would say that the Buick brand's role is even more clear.. To make gobs and gobs of money playing off the back of almost 2 million (Buick/GMC) global sales annually
  13. Clearly it says sub-brand. Not only that.. Anyone who breaths knows that Denali is a Brand and not only a trim. This will be exactly the same..
  14. DETROIT -- Buick is creating a sub-brand called Avenir to take advantage of consumers’ growing appetite for high-end touches. Avenir will be Buick’s equivalent of Denali at the GMC brand. It will include larger wheels, a unique grille and premium trim features, among other upgrades. “Through the first half of 2016, Buick has been the industry’s fastest-growing major international brand, and Avenir is key to future growth and delivering on the high expectations of new customers coming to our showrooms,” Duncan Aldred, Buick’s vice president of global sales, service and marketing, said in a statement today. “Avenir will be Buick’s signature -- the highest expression of the luxury experiences we’re delivering now and in the future.” http://www.autonews.com/article/20160930/RETAIL03/160939988/buick-to-launch-avenir-as-high-end-sub-brand Great move.. and I like that this is essentially the same as what GMC does with "DENALI." Now.. what we have will be a legitimate LINCOLN and Lexus fighter, with Cadillac simply moving higher on the ladder
  15. I agree with ccap... I like the looks of the GC, this.. the Chally.. in some trims the 300 and Charger.. and even the Alfa 4C.. but to spend actual money on one and feel like I'm not getting the shaft in reliability or quality... GET THE EFF OUTTA HERE. That goes for the entire Maserati line up too
  16. Cadillac currently has 3x as many dealers as Benz, for instance, yet sells about a 1/3 as many cars. There is also a measure of desirability viewed from simple things as foot traffic in and out of dealership. Having less dealerships also means U can have the best personal condensed into one dealer as opposed to spread all over the place
  17. Looks like heated and ventilated This is the Cruze/Volt platform.. D2xx. I would say that it is still a possibility for a hybrid after the diesel actually lands a few sales.
  18. SO basically they are making a less expensive, slightly smaller GC? Makes sense as the GC has been a sales success. Reminds me of what Chevy did with the new Malibu in its similarities with the Impala
  19. To anyone questioning this move as non-effective or illogical.. in terms of gaining more sales..The level of customer experience from one portion of a divisional dealership.. Chevy/Cadillac does not translate into a positive one in relation to proper customer relations. As much as I love GM.. my Chevy dealership experience is no way no how as rich as my experience at the Cadillac dealership I deal with. The dealership is a Cadillac-Only store.. and based on customer treatment.. it benefits greatly from not being associated with the Chevy store. It pretty much boils down to U will not get Ritz Carlton treatment at the Hilton. That carries over in sales.. PERCEPTION of luxury has to start out where U buy and with the people U deal with along the way of purchase. A person used to selling, trained to sell a Chevy Sonic or Silverado pick-up should have nothing to do with a sales of a $95K CT6. Let me make it even crazier in clarity.. A PERSON SELLING A TAHOE DOES NOT HAVE THE TRAINING TO HANDLE A SALE TO SALE OF AN ESCALADE. And yes the Tahoe can hit $70K.. but the mentality of that buyer simply is different. It is the reason why a Chevy buyer will spend $70K on the LOADED Tahoe but not feel up to spending $70K on the base Escalade.. and vise-versa. Luxury is a state of mind.. and JDN seems to have a handle on it. There is a direct correlation as to why Cadillac ATPs are up, and leading the segment... and it is not only because Cadillac sells Escalades. The CTS, XTS, ATS, and XT5 are moving, some slower than others, without massive incentives being lobed at the customers.
  20. Leave it to MT to come up with a "Fun to drive" scenario for an effin CUV. Lost and confused as to what people buy and why. This vehicle could be a game changer in the segment since really the only place a diesel is avail is over at the German three. The Q3 Diesel was rated at 20/29..
  21. Of course U weren't saying anything like this when the Focus EV first showed up.. Dude.. EV is the way of the future.. Its inevitable even if its eventually off the grid and charged up via the Sun. We are dinosaurs in the making... and the kids these days would rather sit in a chair and simulate driving than get out to the real track. Not all.. but a vast majority and growing. Having the ability to drive an emission free, non-gas using vehicle that doesn't require the type of maintenance a combustible engine requires has to be the end all be all. In terms of range... in just 6 years we have gone from 83 all EV miles to 240 in the mainstream... for under $35K. Shit is only gonna continue to improve.. and I'm betting on 400 Miles by 2020, or just 3 years away. At that point... range anxiety is dead.. or at least put on serious hold. Once they have a real EV Charging infrastructure available then we are looking at a true migration over to the tech. The problem exists as long as 168,000 gas stations are available vs 9,758 electric charging stations. The problem further extends when one realized that 5 cars can fill-up with gas by the time one Tesla, for example, can be half charged in 20 minutes. Talk about exacerbation. What that does is essentially reduce the availability of those charging stations down to 1951 at a given time waiting for the charge to get there. It takes a complete infrastructural change to make EVs work for mainstream. It must be available and as easy as twisting the cap, squeezing the handle and hanging it back up in less than 5 minutes. I won't even get into the fact that the oil companies finally have awoken... and gas prices are as low at $2.20
  22. I always wonder this as well. I've been CLOSING for damn near 25 years myself. Everything from the street to the boardroom. Anyway.. I can tell U one selling point the Bolt could market and absolutely take the cake from anyone looking to munch on a Tesla.. The Bolt is good for 255 MILES in City driving. THAT SHIT IS HUGE!!!
  23. Yeah well all Chevy dealers aren't allowed to sell Corvettes anyway. They have to have some criteria met. Problem is that with Chevy Dealers.. U have the same salesmen selling Silverado Pick-Ups and Chevy Sparks as U do selling a $100K Z06 already. Every dealer doesn't have a Mike Furman (Criswell) or Rick Conti. This vehicle is PREMIUM.. if not a SUPERCAR. This should be given to both Cadillac and Corvette for the added volume. Cadillac needs two sports cars IMO, altho one of them can certainly be a CTS Coupe type, altho a small Benz AMG GT type pretty much based off the C7, which will still be being sold for a while even when this comes out, would be nice too. This Mid-Engine.. if its already gonna be selling as a Corvette simply has no reason not to be sold in limited quantities as a Cadillac
  24. I'm just coping and pasting this from a thread last year as we have had this discussion so many times it nauseating: Corvette, if this car is a Corvette.. should have its own division.. or the car should be sold thru Cadillac dealers from this point on: I have posed this question before to hard core enthusiasts and most always say no.. because of tradition. My thought is that the Corvette is now essentially in Porsche territory in terms of quality, fit and finish.. and obviously performance and tech. Many non-enthusiasts don;t even kno that the Corvette is a Chevy. I shit U not. Most people I talk to who are not enthusiasts think the Corvette is a.. Corvette. They kno the cost is not cheap.. and in reality Chevy is the "every man" brand of GM. It is on par in terms of perceptional with Ford, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. My thought is screw tradition. It holds the brand back: 1) Porsche is no longer "traditional." The 911 is not the volume car at Porsche.. it is their Flagship. The Corvette is, in many ways, on level with Porsche's Cayman/Boxster to 911s. It should enjoy the autonomy. 2) The fastest car at GM should be the CORVETTE.. the Corvette just shouldn't be a Chevy. The Corvette should be sold thru Cadillac dealers so that its service level will be up to par with its price. As it stands... Chevy dealers do not have the level of service amenities or coddling that is necessary to handle the buyer of a $60-130K sports car. Cadillac does. But as a bone for Traditionalist.. keep the Vette at Chevy, but separate it within the dealership experience. 3) The Camaro almost makes the Corvette redundant as a sports car at Chevy. The Camaro is on level with the Mustang. It could be a viable Flagship for Chevy at this point especially with the Camaro stretching out all the way to $80,000 for a Z28. Its performance is undeniable. It is no longer the go to for tack heads with mullets or guidos with gold chains. The Camaro is down right "Premium" in its own right 4) A revisit to the profitability of a Corvette Brand. The Corvette division is something I've been talking about for years though.. It has occurred to me that Chevy, and possibly GM really are pushing for the Camaro to be the Halo car for Chevy these days. If so... is the Corvette finally gonna get the autonomy it deserves as a separate brand, just sold in Chevy, or better yet.. Cadillac dealers? Quite frankly I believe that GM would make very large profits with a Corvette Specific brand in the same vane as Porsche's 911 and Cayenne: a) Stingray $55K-75K (Base Model 460HP) b) Grand Sport $65K-85K (Upgrade with 550HP) c) Z06 $85-105K (650HP) d) ZR1 $110K-150K Mid-Engined (720HP) e) a yes an ALPHA based Coupe CROSSOVER with a 320HP V6, a 450HP LT1, and a S/C 580HP LT1 as well. All of this would continue to be sold at a CHEVY dealership in a separate (even if by partitioned wall) part of Dealership with specific/exclusive sales reps and technicians, again better yet would be the Cadillac Dealers being able to Cadillac would get the a pick 3 of those vehicles. a) CT7 (based off Stingray) would be a 2seater coupe with a 300HP 2.0LTurbo, optioned with a 440HP TTV6 for the Vseries (vs SLK) b) CT9 (based off Z06 and GS) 2seater with 460HP base, and VSport 580HP with optional "Check the Box" V-series at 650HP c)Cien (CT11) (it along with the Escalade would be the only non Alphanumeric) It would be completely based off mid-engine ZORA and would come out before it. 720HP for coupe and a Roadster at 730HP GM would have a viable competitor in these two divisions to both Porsche and Benz/Audi in almost all categories. Its time and they need to act once the Z06 is in place for the Corvette and the CT9 in place for Cadillac. Properly engineered and leveraged they could use these two brands to usurp the profit reigns from both Toyota and VW.. using the VW strategy as Audi and Porsche are where its actual profits come from (Toyota's profits actually come from, and I'm not BS-ing here, leveraging older platforms under new skins with very little upgrades in terms of engines. (See Camry and Corolla). With Cadillac and a Corvette "semi"division within Chevy, along with GMC and Buick, which are extremely profitable, GM could be what it once was in the pre-90s as far as profits. Cadillac should have a version of the Corvette, perhaps augmented to be a mid-engine car like the ZORA is rumored to be. It is my opinion that Corvette.. as long as it is directly under Chevy's dealership network should not in anyway get a version of the proposed possible ZORA. Chevy dealers and sales people will not be able to deal with the type of clientele that buys at this cost level. Cadillac should have a version of the Corvette, perhaps augmented to be a mid-engine car like the ZORA is rumored to be.
  25. Mainstream??? So no Luxos above Buick, Lincoln, Acura?
