  1. Took a drive along the Lake Erie coastline through various small towns out to the Marblehead Peninsula to see the lighthouse...stormy weather, 60 degrees but looked more like a November storm at sea. Didn't see too many interesting cars, but one that I noticed in particular was a '71 Chevelle--pale yellow w/ a black vinyl top--was going slowly on a street in Sandusky and making horrible grinding sounds like the driver was struggling to get it in gear.
  2. ???? Audi is outselling Cadillac...and Cadillac has GM to 'back itself'..
  3. Good to see the GC still doing well. I notice is says best August since 2000. August 3, 2000 was when I bought my '00 GC in Colorado Springs....
  4. I like the rear and profile more than the front. The hood looks lower and longer than the previous generations, those looked a bit thick and stubby up front. And the uniqueness of being a hardtop is a big plus...
  5. Lol... I once had a German girlfriend and later a Brazilian girlfriend..the German could make discussing distributed database caching algorithms very sexy (she was a computer engineering PhD candidate). The Brazilian was passionate, but bipolar and emotional. Both of them went on to get their PhDs, I dropped out and went Dilbert...good times...
  6. The German supercars/hypercars are less likely to spontaneously combust like the Italians..and usually have better fit and finish.
  7. Definitely evolutionary on the outside from the previous model..I see they have ditched the dual area dash theme inside, going with a more generic approach. I assume it is still a hardtop. Makes me think it would be great to see a big luxury 2dr hardtop from Cadillac again, though it's never going to happen...
  8. To celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Wagoneer, Jeep will be celebrating it with the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Grand Wagoneer. In the spirit of the classic 1984-1991 Grand Wagoneer, the Grand Cherokee Grand Wagoneer will come standard with vinyl wood grain appliqué on the sides and tailgate in a variety of wood styles, with corresponding surround trim. A modern 20-inch version of the classic Grand Wagoneer multi-spoke wheels on 20 inch white wall tires are standard. Interior trim will be based on the Grand Cherokee Summit, but with additional Grand Wagoneer badging, additional woodgrain trim, and retro column gear shift lever and cassette deck in addition to the standard 8.4 UConnect system. Pricing to be announced.
  9. I wonder if it will have wider tires..the regular ones look like they have motorcycle tires.
  10. The FJ definitely seems to have a following...have several friends/colleagues in AZ and CO with them...my coworker in AZ with the two older LCs (FJ40 and FJ60) bought a clean '12 FJ for a daily driver a while back. They are a distinctive vehicle.
  11. 4 Yorkies--2 girls, 2 boys. And 2 terrier mixes. All rescues..love 'em all.
  12. One of the joys of working from home is hanging out with the furkids...
  13. Saw a clean white '60 Thunderbird coupe on Saturday afternoon. Saw a sharp bright red '68 Camaro RS coupe yesterday.
  14. After almost 4 months, the Jeep has been great..really enjoying it...need to work on finishing unpacking from the move so I can use the garage, though. Still parking outside. Since I'm working from home, I've only put about 4000 miles on it.. 2099 of it on the drive back here. Going to get some Weathertech mats and new tires for winter, carpeted mats and the original Goodyear Forteras aren't up to an Ohio winter...
  15. Heh-heh...Turbos were cool in the big 80s when I was teenager...Buick T-Types, Grand Nationals, Saab 900 Turbo, 300ZX Turbo, etc...though Ford 5.0s were my thing then.
  16. Maybe they plan to do a simplified small CUV for the US on the Jetta platform and build it in Chattanooga...
  17. Don't believe the marketing hype, GMC is a GM brand...not a 'truck company'..that's just marketing BS...we all know that GMC products are by and large Chevy products with fancier toppings over the same mechanicals...'professional grade' is just a marketing tagline to justify higher prices over the Chevy trucks and SUVs at the Chevy dealer across the street. As far as Hummer vehicles as GMC vehicles, Hummer is history now, that ship has sunk. GMC's 'fancy Chevy' approach works...
  18. Considering Buick and GMC are usually sold through the same dealer location, it doesn't make a lot of sense unless the GMC version is sufficiently differentiated.
  19. Neat.. Oliver also made tractors..remember seeing Oliver tractors in E. Ohio farming areas as a kid.
  20. That's been the GM model forever, though...GMC has to have models to compete w/ the Chevy dealer across the street....at least GMC gets distinctive styling for some of their models unlike the old days where the only difference was the grille and badging.
  21. The Bolt seems to be more in the size category of the Trax and other subcompact tall wagons/CUVs.
  22. Yes, a Ram Dakota seems like it would do well, pitched against the Colorado/Canyon, Ranger, Tundra, and Frontier...
  23. Inevitable that they would get a Trax variation.....would think a full size CUV would be also coming for GMC, since the Acadia moved down to midsize.
