  1. 'Ecoboost' is just marketing fluff, trying to sound green...should just be honest and call it 2.3 Turbo.
  2. Given GM's history with mid-engine Corvettes, I assume the C8 will be cancelled before it gets into production..
  3. This 3rd generation is definitely an improvement in the styling over the first two generations...esp. like the rear. Like the interior.
  4. They need to offer the AMG trim on the Metris and Sprinter...maybe on the Actros also.
  5. Speaking of tequila, my favorite old Mexican restaurant in central Phoenix--Via de Los Santos--has over 200 tequilas available. When walking in, they have a wall of tequila bottles behind the front desk.
  6. IIRC, there was talk recently about M-B adding another sedan below the CLA for the US, an A-class sedan without the 'coupe' styling.
  7. Nothing wrong with making those comparisons, though. All 3 are model year 2017 products. When they first came out is irrelevant.
  8. True for 1971, but the Eldorado in the thread is a '77 coupe. The last S-class convertible was '70 or '71, then it returned a couple years ago.
  9. That was an early 60s design, quite dated by the early 70s. I'd rather have a late 70s 450SL or 450SLC.
  10. Wheelbases, overall length, width, interior volume are all standard measurements used in comparing cars..nothing unusual about that. And what is with the 'U'? That's something kids use when texting...
  11. Friday evening random design observation...went out to pick up some take out..coming out of the restaurant, I happened to look at a variety of late model cars, CUVs and SUVs in the lot and notice how more alike than different they were with respect to how the hood meets the fender.....cars designed in the last 5-10 years seem to have hoods where the seam with the fender starts at the cowl, goes at angle down the vertical or sloped side of the fender, then cutting forward to the nose.. basically, the hoods have a domed center and vertical sloped sides, so in profile the edge of the hood is on the side of the car rather rather than the top of the fender and hood meeting at a straight line on a horizontal surface.. Noticed variations of this design on cars like a current Jetta, Altima, Camry, Equinox, Edge, Fusion, even my Jeep...Result of a combination of aerodynamics and European pedestrian regulations, maybe?
  12. The CLA suffers from the usual FWD styling weakness of the front wheel being too close to the front door (too short dash-to-axle length) and the front being too tall above the front wheels. The C-class has much better RWD proportions with the front wheels further forward and appropriate dash-to-axle length.
  13. If you compare wheelbase the ATS splits them also.. CLA: 106.3 ATS: 109.3 C-class: 111.8 Not sure about interior volume and legroom, etc. though.
  14. The C-class is more the ATS competitor since both are RWD...the CLA is just an entry level FWD appliance.
  15. A long forgotten mistake...BMW did a similar model in the 90s with the 318ti hatchback..also long forgotten.
  16. The front end makes me think of a homage to the mid 60s BMW coupes...I know this is a concept and not production, but there seems to be some chrome trim on the rear and sides that is just there to be there...seems superfluous.
  17. ??? Your facts are uncoordinated. The IS has nothing to do with the Camry...it is a compact RWD model. Maybe you are thinking of the ES, which is related to the Camry and Avalon, but that's no different than GM with the Malibu and Regal being related.
  18. The new Regal seems very nice, esp. in wagon form...I'd take one over a CLA...the only Benzes I like are out of my price range (like the CLS)...and I'd never buy a used Benz except with an extended warranty..
  19. The Terrain is an example of 'bandwagon styling'..they jumped on the styling trend that Nissan, Lexus, and others jumped on a few years ago..(the pointless black 'floating roof' C-pillar trim)....it's going to look pretty dated once the next faddish styling cue comes out. The funny thing is, I think GM generally gets the styling on their full size SUVs right... the Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade all look great to me..clean, with minimal gimmickry (though the tabbed side marker lights on theTahoe still look odd to me).
  20. The styling in profile is so similar one could think they are made by the same company..even the wheels are very similar...just a few detail differences.
  21. Looks better than the first one...no longer frog-faced..;) Greenhouse profile similar to their CUVs.
  22. I don't do public transit currently, but have in the past when in cities where they are viable. I liked and used the light rail often in the Denver area. Never used it in Phoenix, as it was impractical to use relative to where I lived and worked. I like my suburb here in the Cleveland area--very wooded and very quiet, great parks and a National Park 5 min away, but 15-20 min from downtown Cleveland and beaches. I enjoy going into the city for the arts, dining, sports (going to the Browns-Steelers game on Sunday), etc.
  23. My GC has decent side and rear visibility, but I definitely have noticed how much smaller the side and rear windows are compared to my old GC...definitely a noticeable change after 2 generations. The A-pillars are definitely thicker, realized they block the view of traffic coming from the right at intersections when viewed from some angles.
  24. Which are handled differently in each state, I've read some states are pretty lax WRT to such titles.
  25. I've ridden in the front and back of a current Murano many times, found it had plenty of headroom (I'm normal sized at 6'0", though). Side and rear visibility isn't the best, though (the backup camera and side parking sensors seem necessary).
