  1. Audi is in there also with the SQ5, and the SQ7 is coming.. the performance SUV market is pretty crowded. GM needs something in the performance SUV space, an Escalade V-series and Tahoe and Suburban ZL1 versions would be interesting...and something from GMC.
  2. Well, they have the Golf Alltrack. Would be interesting to see the Alltrack spec on the 3dr and 5dr versions also.
  3. I really like what Volvo is doing.. love their interiors. Kind of like where Genesis is going also.
  4. I like the direction Lincoln is going...the market is big enough that there is room for comfort-oriented luxury cars as well as performance-oriented luxury cars, IMO...Lexus seems to try and play both directions, and Cadillac does to a degree.
  5. I can't imagine anyone buying a 'hypercar' would care about gas mileage--they are mostly stored, catch on fire, taken to shows, or driven in places like Dubai where fuel costs are negligible.
  6. Follow the leader..standard business practice/product strategy for big, established companies. Original was doing something like the Model S. Too radical of a departure from the norm.
  7. Well, the Amish are resistant to change..still living like it's 1899 w/ their horse and buggies...
  8. Interesting...didn't realize they still had the Frontier in the US..Nissan's small truck has been invisible for years...
  9. 'Ecoboost' is just marketing fluff, trying to sound green...should just be honest and call it 2.3 Turbo.
  10. Given GM's history with mid-engine Corvettes, I assume the C8 will be cancelled before it gets into production..
  11. This 3rd generation is definitely an improvement in the styling over the first two generations...esp. like the rear. Like the interior.
  12. They need to offer the AMG trim on the Metris and Sprinter...maybe on the Actros also.
  13. Speaking of tequila, my favorite old Mexican restaurant in central Phoenix--Via de Los Santos--has over 200 tequilas available. When walking in, they have a wall of tequila bottles behind the front desk.
  14. IIRC, there was talk recently about M-B adding another sedan below the CLA for the US, an A-class sedan without the 'coupe' styling.
  15. Nothing wrong with making those comparisons, though. All 3 are model year 2017 products. When they first came out is irrelevant.
  16. True for 1971, but the Eldorado in the thread is a '77 coupe. The last S-class convertible was '70 or '71, then it returned a couple years ago.
  17. That was an early 60s design, quite dated by the early 70s. I'd rather have a late 70s 450SL or 450SLC.
  18. Wheelbases, overall length, width, interior volume are all standard measurements used in comparing cars..nothing unusual about that. And what is with the 'U'? That's something kids use when texting...
  19. Friday evening random design observation...went out to pick up some take out..coming out of the restaurant, I happened to look at a variety of late model cars, CUVs and SUVs in the lot and notice how more alike than different they were with respect to how the hood meets the fender.....cars designed in the last 5-10 years seem to have hoods where the seam with the fender starts at the cowl, goes at angle down the vertical or sloped side of the fender, then cutting forward to the nose.. basically, the hoods have a domed center and vertical sloped sides, so in profile the edge of the hood is on the side of the car rather rather than the top of the fender and hood meeting at a straight line on a horizontal surface.. Noticed variations of this design on cars like a current Jetta, Altima, Camry, Equinox, Edge, Fusion, even my Jeep...Result of a combination of aerodynamics and European pedestrian regulations, maybe?
  20. The CLA suffers from the usual FWD styling weakness of the front wheel being too close to the front door (too short dash-to-axle length) and the front being too tall above the front wheels. The C-class has much better RWD proportions with the front wheels further forward and appropriate dash-to-axle length.
  21. If you compare wheelbase the ATS splits them also.. CLA: 106.3 ATS: 109.3 C-class: 111.8 Not sure about interior volume and legroom, etc. though.
  22. The C-class is more the ATS competitor since both are RWD...the CLA is just an entry level FWD appliance.
  23. A long forgotten mistake...BMW did a similar model in the 90s with the 318ti hatchback..also long forgotten.
  24. The front end makes me think of a homage to the mid 60s BMW coupes...I know this is a concept and not production, but there seems to be some chrome trim on the rear and sides that is just there to be there...seems superfluous.
  25. ??? Your facts are uncoordinated. The IS has nothing to do with the Camry...it is a compact RWD model. Maybe you are thinking of the ES, which is related to the Camry and Avalon, but that's no different than GM with the Malibu and Regal being related.
