Maybe not in your lifetime, but I can see EVs being the dominant type of vehicle sold within the next 20 years. And autonimous vehicles are inevitable also... It is odd they went with 2dr wagons only in '49-51, considering the wagons in the previous generation were 4drs. A '49 Ford Custom Six 4dr sedan was my parents' first new car, bought shortly after they got married. I've seen a B&W photo of it, think it was dark blue. Was 21 years before I was born...

Cadillac News: Don't Call It XT3, Call It XT4
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Interesting..would have thought they would have used the name XT3 as the compact CUV and leave XT4 for a future compact coupe CUV, and XT6 for a midsize coupe CUV (if they want to match MB, BMW, etc).- 58 replies

Rumorpile: Next-Generation Camaro To Head Down Under
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Heritage Marques
I wonder how much demand there is in Oz has for such a car, though...hasn't the Australian market moved on to be dominated by appliances like Civics and Camrys and CUVs like other markets? -
GM ‘100 percent’ Commited To Holden Following Sale of Opel
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Heritage Marques
Seems like Holden is just going to be badge engineered from other brands with no distinct models of their own. Without the Commodore, Caprice and Ute, they have a mix of Chevy and Opel rebadges currently.. -
Toyota News: Rumorpile: The MR2 Might Make A Return to Toyota's Lineup

More coupes would be nice to see instead of more CUVs.... -
Saw a worn 90s 4th gen Camaro Z28 today with a chain connecting an oversized chrome tailpipe tip to a hole in the right rear taillight...weird. Also saw a very clean two tone blue '90s GMC Sierra--what I noticed was a detail I forgot from the 90s--it said 'GMCtruck' on the rear badging, w/ 'truck' spelled out beside GMC....I forgot they did that, anyone remember what range of years GMC used badging like that?

The pizza delivery guy tonight had an unusual car...a Geo Storm Wagonback...haven't seen one of those in ages, looked to be in good condition...kind of a purplish blue color..

I am trying the same...I was here very little the last couple of years but am trying to visit more often these days.

Fewer parts, cheaper to manufacture? Looks like the Fiesta line is going to be all 3 cyl except for the diesel, at least in Europe.. Engine 1.0 L Ecoboost I3 (turbochargedgasoline) 1.1 L I3 (gasoline) 1.5 L Ecoboost I3 (turbocharged gasoline) 1.5 L Duratorq I4 (turbocharged diesel)

Hmm...looks like a '66 Chrysler 300..

If a Cadillac buyer is concerned about a few cents difference in the price of a gallon of gas, they have bigger problems...Cadillacs are supposed to be about luxury and excess, not cheapassing and economy.

Saw a black Savana Denali window van in traffic recently...chrome mesh Denali style grille, Denali badging, chrome wheels...must have been aftermarket or a dealer special.

GM News: More Downtime Comes To GM's Lordstown Plant
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
When did the new Cruze go on sale? I think I've only seen two so far, both on a Chevy dealer's lot. They seem invisible. When did the new Cruze go on sale? I think I've only seen two so far, both on a Chevy dealer's lot. They seem invisible. -

Cadillac News: Spying: 2018 Cadillac XT3 Comes Fully Camouflaged
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Very similar design to the S-class dash that has been around a few years. This style E-class came out for '16. The CLS dash is also very similar.- 110 replies

Chevrolet would be the global brand...just don't know if Europe/UK/Aus would accept it they way they had the familiar Opel/Vauxhall/Holden for decades. Cadillac would be the global premium brand, and Buick and GMC regional fillers.

Anyway, back to the original thread, I wonder what PSA's angle is in this...access to more manufacturing capacity and more product development resources than they have currently?

As I stated, his original post implied the whole product was 'world class'.. wasn't obvious his comment was limited to suspension. And GM has a history of cheap interiors---look at the C6 Corvettes or 5th gen Camaro...very recent history, not 20-30 years ago. The C7 and 6th gen Camaro are better, but still a bit too Fisher-Price to be considered 'world class'.

Having always been a light sleeper and prone to insomnia for at least 25 years, and on strong prescription sleeping pills for over 20 years, I'm never sure if I'm dreaming in a sleep or a semi-awake state...one thing I crave but don't often get are solid, uninterrupted nights of sleep without getting awoken...

If you bothered to read my post, it was obvious I wasn't talking about today's GM interiors...I was responding to hyperv6's original comment about the Cobalt and HHR being 'world class'... (he later qualified that and said he meant only the suspension tuning, his original post implied the whole product was 'world class'). GM does have some excellent interiors today, no argument about that.
