  1. It's a moot point arguing with some people...some people will never embrace new and different ideas let alone understand them. They fear change.
  2. Seems like the Delta II and Epsilon II cars are too close in size, esp. wheelbase.
  3. Lovin' those cars and mountains pics..
  4. Cool...Maserati hasn't had a mid-engined sports car in over 30 years (Merak was the last one IIRC).
  5. No. BMW/MB are using FWD only for subcompact and compact entry level models...they aren't using them for SUVs or regular sedans (yet).
  6. My brother had a white w/ red interior '59 coupe..interesting car. I prefer the '61-63 and '64-66 generations.
  7. Interestingly, I don't think that sharing Thetas/Epsilons is the way to get there... There might be other alternatives... What Cadillac still needs is a clear focus and then aim for that focal point. I don't think it is either, but that's an approach that has been successful for Lexus--their two highest volume models (RX,ES) are on generic FWD platforms, and they use RWD platforms for their more serious models. So it is an approach that has precident in the market.
  8. Pn the morning commute saw something unusual--a custom Geo Prizm...rolling on large wheels/tires, shaved badges and door handles, well-integrated ground affects and custom fascias, in a bright blue similar to Chrysler B5 Blue, with the personalized plate 'SURFACE'.
  9. It would be nice to see wagons in the US again, a nice alternative to CUVs.
  10. You have this one nailed properly. The Ferrari kicking should come from Cadillac. I know there are people who talk about the Corvette as if it is the god of ultimate cheap but fast performance and it is for what you get in a ZR1, but we are beyond this and only Cadillac could attempt and deliver a true luxury performance auto. Chevy and Cadillac are two different markets. The thing is, the Corvette is the sports car..it's the one beating Ferraris in international competition. Cadillac is a luxury brand, competing with Mercedes, BMW, etc. Different niches.
  11. Sharp car...wasn't the '89 IPC the Firebird w/ the special rear hatch (tunneled rear window, not the usual big glass window like this one)...or was that another year?
  12. Chevy seems to have no interest in coupe versions of the FWD models or even sporty versions...
  13. it competes but has shortcomings.. I suspect the Malibu will be at the bottom of the list when the magazines do comparisons w/ the new Focus..it hasn't done well in the comparison tests so far..
  14. I personally like the Fusion better than the Malibu, but I find them comparable. From what I've read, it sounds like the big negatives of the new Malibu are the limited engine choice (only the Eco version is available so far) and the short wheelbase results in limited rear legroom (they cut the wheelbase by 5 inches, the new Fusion has a wheelbase 6 inches longer than the new Malibu).
  15. I wondered what those looked like...found this:
  16. I like the specs, but think Corvette would be the appropriate place for a supercar. A limited edition high end Corvette model above the ZR-1. Corvette has the international racing heritage and brand recognition. I'd love to see a street version of this mid-engined Corvette built as a Ferrari/Lambo competitor... If Cadillac were going to build a high end sports car or sporty model, the target should be something like the Merc SL or SLS...front engine, RWD coupe/convertible...like the XLR but better executed.
  17. Listened to the latest Autoblog podcast this morning, they gave it a very solid review. Haven't seen one yet in person.
  18. The problem with the recharge cans is that they contain oils and sealer... the R134A (or R12) will escape the system and leave the rest behind... and there is not a lot of volume in modern systems, anyway, so you can only top off a system a couple times before you really need to evacuate the whole system and start new. Thought I'd give it a try before going to the shop..never had any service on the A/C before, this is it's 13th summer..still cold, but not new-car cold..
  19. Sweet...love the surface development on the sides and the new taillight variation. Love the offbeat color...
  20. Well, their only previous distinct front end design cue was a 5-sided trapazoid grille that they used for a long time...this is more distinct and still uses the 5-sided opening...
  21. Doesn't really work that way, though, because other than the Denali, Chevy and GMCs trims overlap each other...and they are sold in different dealers, unlike Fords.
  22. That makes no sense. The Sierra and Silverado look the same (sans grille and badge change), drive the same, ride the same, handle the same, have the same equipment and features and cost the same. Why would a Sierra driver go to Ford for something different? Ford cut Mercury, I didn't see every Mercury driver flee to Chevrolet. And the ones that did leave the brand were probably going to leave even if Mercury had stayed. I'd like to see GM post profit of each brand to see who really makes the money. Really if you put 50% of GMT900 development cost on GMC, they are losing money. I think GMC is one of those cases of the triumph of marketing over substance. They are very much like Mercury in that case.
  23. That's something I've never understood..why would they go for a very different Ford rather than a Chevy that is virtually identical to a GMC...People are weird. I still see no reason for GM to have two truck brands...Ford and Chrysler each have one truck brand and don't need a redundant brand--they offer their trucks in a wide range of trims from stripped to loaded, Chevy could do the same thing.
  24. They need to cut the GMC budget by 90%. GMC existed for decades on a minimal budget doing rebadges of Chevys. GM does not need two full line truck/SUV/CUV brands.
  25. Mazda's 'happy fish' face....as opposed to Ford's 'angry fish' look on some of their cars..
