  2. Subtle updates to the current models. I've always liked the Boxster...it's one of the few small 2 seater sports cars I fit comfortably in.
  3. I presume you have heard of the 'Industrial Revolution'.... lots of coal-fired plants polluting in the 19th century..
  4. Interesting..the package I was looking at said specifically the QV. QM2 could be interesting also... I've always wanted to do a transatlantic voyage, instead of the usual 10 1/2 hr BA flight to London. Turns out going by ship is a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. I'd also like to do an Alaska cruise, and I've also thought about doing a Mediterranean cruise. Want to get back to Europe next year, been over 4 years now since I was last there. I need a good 2-3 week vacation, maybe next spring after I finish my current contract. I've also thought about doing a National Park road trip tour sometime next year... the Utah parks, Yellowstone, Glacier, Black Hills/Mt Rushmore, etc. I've lived in the West for over 10 years, but have only seen national parks in Colorado and AZ.
  5. Yes, something is definitely going on. Obviously, all the human-created pollution that has happened in the last 200 or so years has had a negative impact on the environment.
  6. Saw a beautiful black '50-53 Caddy Coupe de Ville in traffic this evening...saw it from behind and the left 3/4 view only, couldn't id the exact year..
  7. Wow..I seem to remember their plant was bombed during the Balkans wars of the '90s...didn't realize they stayed in production..looks like they updated the front end a bit.
  8. That is sad.. I've been on the Queen Mary, never saw the QE2. I'm thinking about taking a cruise next year for a vacation on Cunard's Queen Victoria, from New York to South Hampton. 8 days at sea. Queen Victoria
  9. The new issue of Hemmings Classic Car arrived today..amongst the articles are a buyers guide to the '79-85 Eldorado, with a beautiful yellow '79 Biarritz as the feature car, a black on black 1 of none '69 Olds Delta 88 Royale convertible (incredible), plus lots of other interesting non-GMs (50s Mercurys, '65 Falcon 2dr wagon, a 1920 Dodge speedster, etc.
  10. Yeah, I was talking to my sister in Beavercreek...sounds like the weather is Ohio November blah back there now.. I was driving around with the sunroof open tonight, 82 degrees in Phoenix. Alas, I'm probably heading to Ohio for Christmas..
  11. Speaking of wildlife, what happened to all the honeybees? My Dad did beekeeping as a side hobby in the '70s-80s...most are gone from Ohio from what I've read.
  12. Catchy song..great video. She's hot. Cool band name also... (besides the motorcycle, it's also the name of a great old Richard Thompson song). I'll start with Summer Glau, from the Terminator series..
  13. The convertible actually did get rebuilt eventually... it sat in my folks' barn until '82, when my brother sold it to a Mustang fan from Pittsburgh, who was going to restore it...it may still be out there...dark green w/ a black interior. My brother's IPC is an interesting car..he has a lot of documentation, it's apparently not one of the regular replicas but actually one of a number of cars that were used at Indy at the '79 Indy 500. It's in very clean, original condition.
  14. Two words: Turd Ferguson.
  15. Yeah, both the Mustangs he had at Ohio State got totalled..my folks bought him a new '66 GT convertible for HS graduation, after a couple years at Ohio State a drunk driver hit him head on, totalilng it. Then he took the '66 hi-po coupe, and it got rear ended at a stoplight on Broad Street in 1970. About 10 years later, he had a rusty '65 Mustang coupe, 289...it caught on fire outside Pittsburgh due to a leaky carby. He's had better luck w/ the 3 Fox Mustangs he's had since then ('79 Indy Pace Car, '82 GT, '86 GT). Never had an accident w/ the '69 Mustang (which my Dad bought new) or my '87 GT (which I got for HS graduation), but my '86 LX was rear-ended and totalled the week after I moved to Ann Arbor, Mi in '94. I think my sister always felt slighted--she got a new '76 Pinto Runabout for HS graduation
  16. I like it overall, esp. the interior. Should be a good competitor for the LaCrosse.
  17. Hmmm..I like the front end and interior, but the rear looks too much like the Focus...and the character lines on the decklid seem too contrived, IMHO.
  18. This thread dates back over a year..I wonder if they've popped out another or two by now?
  19. Should be a good competitor for the new LaCrosse.
  20. With all the doom and gloom and articles, I keep getting this nagging feeling that the US auto industry is going the way of the UK auto industry in the '70s-80s...the downward spiral towards oblivion.
  21. Well, we are already helping them when we fill up at the gas pump... strange days, these are.
  22. Wow....Kung Pao Camaro. These are surreal times. Maybe the Indians (Tata and Mahindra) will get in the game also... mmmm...Challenger SRT8 Vindaloo..
  23. My experience w/ FWD has been limited to rental cars and the Escort diesel I had in high school (and it was my folks' tow car for their RV, not something I bought). FWD is fine for vanilla, mainstream cars for the mainstream driver that want a transportation appliance. If I'm buying something for myself--be it a daily driver or a weekend fun car, I want RWD...
  24. I've taught college courses when I was in grad school, to college freshmen and sophomores... I don't think I could handle teaching kids..
  25. Mmm....I like Roscoe's...gone there every time I've been in town. I've gotten acclimated to Phoenix, I'm afraid...mornings in the 50s feel freezing to me, and afternoons in the low 80s are perfect sunroof open, windows down weather....
